Can I cut this pins in the back of Ergodone PCB?
(1/1)
henriquebach:
I bought the Ergodone kit (an Ergodox clone) with the PCB, stabilizers and acrylic case, but when I was assembling the keyboard, those pins in the back are too long, blocking the bottom plate from closing.
Since I'm new with soldering (this is my first) I preferred to not cut the wires and instead drill holes in the case (not a big deal because I didn't like the transparent case, but it was the only one available, I'm going to put some vinyl stickers or create one with MDF in a near future).
I fixed the problem with holes in the bottom plate, but I'm wondering if I can shorten them without damaging the keyboard?
vvp:
You can can shorten them to about 2 mm length.
Use sharp cutting nippers so that you do not exert bending force on the pins.

Thank you!
