IBM F PC AT starting at $75+shipping
« on: Sat, 04 April 2015, 20:04:48 »
Bid smart on this one if you want it.  More than $150 shipped is way overpriced.  $100-150 shipped is the standard range for them.  Their shipping is also ridiculously overpriced, so if you win, try to negotiate a Flat Rate Game Box ($16) with their "handling fee" of $5.  Better and faster shipping with a lower price than the ridiculous rates they want.

Nope.

If the price stays low, though, good deal for someone close to the seller.

The shipping is ridiculous even within the US.  USPS Parcel Select should not be $30 for the board and USPS priority is not $60.

That is ridiculous. I bought a Model F AT from someone else the other day and the shipping to Australia was $35 USD.

That is a good shipping price. I've never got below $50 for a keyboard to Australia.

Really?! That shocks me. I wonder if the seller gave you a deal on the shipping fee. I bet the actual shipping cost was higher than that. USPS int'l shipping is not cheap anymore.

That's most likely the case. It was also a BIN or best offer thing, and I undercut the BIN by $10. Total price was $135 USD shipped.

Based on what I've seen thats a hell of a deal.  I think shipping alone is usually in the 60 to 70 range.

Yeah, it was pretty great. If I could get the one from this thread for $75+35 (won't happen) and miraculously nobody else bids on it (won't happen) I would take it. I don't even need a second Model F AT, but for that price I'd take it.

This one is also a lot cleaner than the one I bought.

Someone should bid on this before it ends unsold. It would have the fortunate side-effect of preventing me from buying it even with $85 international shipping ($160 shipped isn't too bad for a clean Model F AT, right?)

The shipping is $24 to my location, which is overpriced. Based on the calculated shipping rate from USPS(standard shipping), it shouldn't cost more than $17, given my location anyway.

Yeah, it's why I called out their shipping in the OP.  It makes no sense.  And they added $5 to it for "handling," which I thought was against the TOS.

I asked the seller about it a day or two ago. Apparently the measurements are 24x18x10 (I assume inches), and weight is 11lb. Might be something to do with the package size exceeding a certain threshold, idk, but it's definitely more costly than it should be.

Still fits in a flat rate game box.

The price I mentioned is with handling included. According to the specs Ludovician quoted, the price for Standard Post checks out according to the USPS calculator. I was originally assuming the dimensions and weight were smaller and lighter. Assuming the highest bidder can win it for the starting price or thereabouts, it would still be a good deal, in my opinion.

I would bet this one will turn up again, the buyer looks possibly be a reseller.

Unless you're Ellipse or Eclipse or whatever his name is, that seems like a poor price to pay to resell.
