Vintage Unitek K151-L AT/XT Magitronic Keyboard (Goodwill via eBay)

109514-0

These have turned up here with Cherry MX blues and blacks, and DT says Unitek also used Alps and Alps clones on their boards. But this one has what appear to be green Mitsumi Miniatures. They're pretty rare in general, and I've found no references at all to Uniteks with them.

Drawbacks:
  • Missing a keycap (Cherry mount, though, so presumably replaceable)
  • AT layout (only one Alt and Ctrl key; Ctrl and CapsLock reversed; F-keys at left instead of top)
  • The not-universally-loved 1u Backspace, big-ass Enter
Advantages:
  • XT/AT switchable
  • Pretty cheap for such an unusual board!
I wrote here in February about a board with yellow Mitsumi Miniatures, which I found quite fast, fun and unusual. Anyone know the difference between yellow and green? DT says they're both tactile, so I'm guessing one's stiffer.

It's been reduced to $19.97 + shipping.

Gotta say, I love these switches! If it weren't an AT board I'd snap it up myself.
