What you're ordering:
A 16 gauge (0.0625"), grade T304, 2b finished, laser cut, stainless steel 1800 (ANSI or ISO), 185x (ISO), 186x (ANSI), 3700 plate. These are based off design files from KBD and have been modified bt The_Beast to have phantom style cutouts to allow switch tops to be removed without de-soldering everything. A prototype plate design has been made and tested with the only issue being that the 2x stab switches didn't have their cutouts to allow top removal, which will be corrected before these are made

Prototype:
1800 plate on a keyboard. NOTE that you will have to cut out parts of the inside of your case for these or any 1800 plate to fit. I will have instructions on this later

Images:
image graphic of 1800 ANSI plate. This will fit any 101 key (winkeyless) 1800 with ANSI layout such as 1800/1813/1838

image graphic of 1800 ISO plate. This will fit any 102 key (winkeyless) 1800 with ISO layout

image graphic of 185x ISO plate. This will fit any 105 key (winkey) 185x with ISO layout

image graphic of 186x ANSI plate. This will fit any 104 key (winkey) 186x with ANSI layout such as 1863, 1865, & 1867 only

image graphic of 3700 numpad plate

1800/185x/186x Pricing:
still TBD for the larger quanties as the shop is very busy and we don't want to bug him a million times.
Remember these are big plates compared to a poker, so that is why they cost more.
FYI Each plate type has its own price tier, so I expect the 1800 to have many more orders than the 186x
1-2 plates are $33 each
10+ plates are less (TBD still)
20+ plates are even less (TBD still)

3700 Pricing:
still TBD for the larger quanties as the shop is very busy and we don't want to bug him a million times.
I just put the starting price as around a poker plate price as it shouldn't be more than that and to have something there
1-2 plates are $20 each
10+ plates are less (TBD still)
20+ plates are even less (TBD still)

Shipping:
Another TBD item here as I need to actually package up my other prototype plate and see. Again these are big plates and are harder to ship

Time Frame:
Orders are closed and I'm collecting payments now and hopefully enough are paid so that I can submit  the order early next week. The_Beast will pickup the plates in late July or early August when they are done and ship them to me and then i'll ship out to everyone else

Payment:
Payment by Paypal only, +4% Paypal fee.

How to Order:

So will this plate will fit into my Dolch PAC case, too?  I know the PAC keyboards are a little different (lock LEDs are on a tiny daughter board for non-standard placement compared to the other G80-1800's I've seen), but if it will work, I'm in for one.

Edit - okay, so it looks like I'd probably have to mod the case a bit.  Sounds fun.

If we find me a dolch keyboard sans caps, I will get one of these plates!

yea I think it will fit just fine in a dolch with the same spots needing to be cut out. inside of the case is the same except the LED's being horizontal or vertical

master plan for 1800 world domination :
phase1 = 1800 specific keys, put on hold due to lack of interest & high cost: http://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=39731.0
phase2 = 1800 plates in this thread
phase3 = custom 1800 PCB to get rid of stupid jumper requirement with diodes on PCB for NKRO (with controller support of course) and maybe LEDs
phase4 = custom 1800 controller to support NKRO/6KRO, LEDs, & other TBD features.
phase5 = custom case

phase5 though is the only one which isn't a sure thing as the cost there will be through the roof. phase3/4 will likely not be until next winter, but will happen and then anyone can have an 1800 without the difficulty of finding one in the US

flynn, do you think a 1800 case that is made sort of how the LZ cases are made (the top piece is the most intricate, the bottom just being a plate) would be possible and possibly cheaper than one that has two milled pieces, top and bottom?

instead of a BFG you can think of these as a BFP  ;D
only thing larger would be a 3000 plate

it might be. the bottom part on an existing 1800 case is pretty basic to begin with. the top part though with its size and cutouts and angles is what will be so expensive to get made i suspect. i haven't thought about this part much as its the last phase of the master plan

I'd be interested in a 3700 plate if they are offered.

only reason I don't have ISO on here is because we don't have the files made. I see WFD has made ISO phantom plates, so maybe if he can share the file or dimensions with The_Beast, then I can get him to modify one of these into ISO. No promises but I will ask these guys about that

I don't own g80 but I think it's layout is cool.  Do these not come plate mounted?  This buy is pretty rare no?  It would be fun to build a custom g80 no doubt but I really do not need this at all. Not even a little bit. So I will order ASAP.

Flynn, just found this GB plates going, FOR A G80-1800  :p   Placed my order.

Nice to finally see the 1800 series get some more loving here on Geekhack.  And a BIG YES if you ever decide to make PCB's and/or FULL Aluminum Cases for these wonderful creations.

This is were money needs to be spent on.  Filco's, poker's, KMac's and LH-GZ's already get so much attention but the 1800 keeps getting ignored on here, but I was right about you Flynn.  If there is going to be a huge renaissance with the Cherry 1800 series, it'll always start with you.  8)

Thank you so much for this.

If anyone needs a project board - donor G80-1800 - to use this steel plate with, they're currently on Ebay.de for about $13.00.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/120985659205?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649

Shipping to the US will probably triple the price, but you may be able to work a deal with someone to defray the costs/share shipping.  I ordered one of these, waiting to see if I win another auction before getting it shipped to me.

Damn fine price there. Interested in buying a couple to do some mods with.  How much to ship it to a Prison Colony known as Australia, that's if it's available?

If anyone needs a project board - donor G80-1800 - to use this steel plate with, they're currently on Ebay.de for about $13.00.

You'd have to check with the seller.  I'm having a proxy in Germany buy it for me, ship it plus some other board(s) in a DHL package.  Be aware these are "refurbished," that can mean "rather grubby."  I think this link is to the units with USB connections, they're also selling PS/2 cabled units for one Euro less.  Pics at the link from someone who bought one from this seller;

In for one plate since I only have one 1800, but if someone wants to sell me another 1800 I'm interested and I'll get an additional plate.

I don't own g80 but I think it's layout is cool.  Do these not come plate mounted?  This buy is pretty rare no?  It would be fun to build a custom g80 no doubt but I really do not need this at all. Not even a little bit. So I will order ASAP.
pretty much all Cherry branded boards are PCB mounted. there is one super rare terminal board one that has a plate. But anything recent like 1800s or 3000s are PCB mount

I like your logic on deciding to order or not :) sounds a lot like myself

Thank you so much for this.
thanks for the kind words my friend from down under :)

I just added the ISO option to the op, so now there actually is a plate you can use on the ISO boards you linked

I just remembered. On the G80-3700's, since the plate is so short, it cannot go through the large deburring/sanding machine so the don't really have the brushed look like all the other plates I've done. They can be ground by hand (angle grinder) by the laser shop, but the finish isn't nearly as consistent as if it had gone through the sanding machine (even the machine isn't 100% consistent, but it's miles ahead of the hand ground).

Just a word of warning!

Sent in a new order (hoping this replaces my older order...), to get one of each of the 18xx variations.  No idea which board I'm going to use these on, so I'm covering all my bases.   :D

By the way, I installed my G80-3700 plate and there is one thing that needs to be changed so that it will allow you to change the two 2u vertical keys. Also, the case does need a bit of filing/cutting since there is a rib on the top of the case that doesn't allow you to close the case without filing.

Would it be possible for the plate to be adjusted to add a slot/place for that rib?
