Hey guys, The1THRILLHOUSE/THRILLHOIAF/CODY (whatever) here with an idea I've been brainstorming around as my last design SA By the Sea was getting settled down!

Kits and ideas are still WIP but I wanted to get an IC down to see if its an idea worth pursuing!


Description

SA HYAH! is a uniform R3 SA profile set inspired by Staryu from the classic anime series Pokemon! I feel Staryu has one of the better color palettes of the OG 151, and gels perfectly with the warm/summery vibe that I'm shooting for with the set.

HYAH hopes to be manufactured by Signature Plastics, with the goal of selling through either Massdrop or a collection of known trustworthy proxies (all still TBD)

All kits done in Blender using R/MK users Kdem007 and Jacopods KLE for Blender plugin. seriously such a great tool.

If the kits get enough steam, I'll put in for professional kit renders that more accurately reflect SA's font/legends capabilities

Lovely colors. I would like to have some homing scooped keys for Colervak layouts. And, is there any chance to have the ergodox kit?

Idk, some people prefer it.

I, for one, HIGHLY favor uniform R3 over sculpted.

I think I'd buy this, simply because it IS uniform. 
I have Icecaps, and Nuclear Data. This'd make a good addition :) 
I think it'd look great without the pink accents as a sort of "retro-beige" set.

Idk, some people prefer it.

I think I'd buy this, simply because it IS uniform.

Yeah I've included the beige modifiers for the Esc and return keys on the modifiers and numpad kits for those that want the retro-beige aesthetic :)

I found there was just more sacrifices/exceptions that needed to be made with sculpted kits, wheras with uniform, you can get away with having two 1u alt keys and not need 4 more in different Row profiles to appease everyone...

that and the above means cheaper kits, better coverage while still keeping SA's great shape and form.

Yeah when I get to posting polls and generating interest on Massdrop, I will make a homing/scooped kit and ergodox kit as well to entice people :)

Never thought about it that way, thanks! I guess I'm just unfamiliar with small form factor boards

why r3 only? this makes it incompatible with mixing with my other SA sets. would much prefer sculpted

After spending the last couple months experiencing the pain of Sculpted kit refining with SA By the Sea, I wanted something a bit easier and more accesible...

i.e. a 40s/planck kit that doesnt require 95 keys because people want an R1, R2, R3 AND an R4 1u shift/alt/ctrl etc. etc.

I found there was just more sacrifices/exceptions that needed to be made with sculpted kits, wheras with uniform, you can get away with having two 1u alt keys and not need 4 more in different Row profiles to appease everyone...

that and the above means cheaper kits, better coverage while still keeping SA's great shape and form.
