A friend of mine who is huge into this world had been pushing me for a while to get into mech keyboards, and pushed that I joined this forum to learn and understand why he loves it. In this quarantine, I felt like it was time to start to seriously consider my current keyboard situation as my current keyboard is way more frustrating than I'd care to admit. I worked on a friend's mech for about 10 minutes and was hooked.

I'm excited to learn all about this world has to offer, and hopefully won't break the bank in doing so.

Thank you!

Hi MaddSplatter49. Welcome to Geekhack.

Your friend doesn't sound very ... friendly? It is for the best in the end though, so long as you don't mind having piles of keyboards, switches, cap sets, and no money anyway.

What sort of switches does your friend's board have? What do you think you're interested in so far? I imagine your friend will have you try a tester or 3, and/or have you pick one up.
