ENDED!!! 12.2.11 Contest guesses
« on: Fri, 02 December 2011, 16:47:32 »
And the winnah is... Kisakuku
Congratulations!!!

It was not an easy contest to be sure and only a portion of the entrants seemed to find the question (around 20%) and only about half the people who found the question found it because of my hints.

So what was the "and a...???" part of the prize?

It's one free random key from one of my Topre compatible or Cherry compatible Factory 2nds grab bags.
Lets see here-
Topre bag...
Rustle-rustle-rustle, AH HA! A blue Topre Skull!

On to the MX bag...
Fooooosh!!!! Rustle-rustle-rustle, fumble, rustle, AH HA! A blue MX Skull!

Your pick Kisakuku.  =)

Obscure you say! HA! Well so are the prizes-
The winner will receive one red skull on black keycap in your choice of MX, Topre, or BS compatible switch and a...???

I will openly make fun of your guesses
Why? Because they lend themselves easily to it.

I will update this closed thread with the guesses and the eventual winnah...
Start shooting them PMs

The funniest guess so far is-

"Filco Ninja" , not because of the guess, which is way wrong (yet oddly closer than most) but for the reasoning behind it! LoL, it was brilliant.

Another wrong guess is-

"zombie keycap"   on a side note, I sure do get lots of requests for zomie keys for some reason. XD

Here is a self professed worst answer of all-

"red skull on black Keycap"  NOPE! Not even close, and I disagree, I don't think it's the worst guess, for that I would still probably pick the funny "Michael Jackson" one.

"acer 6312" nope!

"Bruce Willis"  Waaaaay wrong, but I get this one a lot. I wish that guess would die HARD! And with a Vengeance!  =P

"EK making a new keyboard, selling new caps?" nope! A guess of a suggestion? lol

"HHK3" NOPE! These are supposed to be guesses, not wishes! XD

LoL!  We have some very prolific guessers out there! I will up date the WRONG guesses when I get home. The more I seem to point out that a particular guess is wrong I get more of that guess.   hmmm... It's  not a trick people. haahaaa.  =P

I would really pay  WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY  more attention to those hints as seemingly oversimplistic as they are.

hmmm... it looks as if I'm a good bit behind with posting some of these! Hold up while a gather a truckload more bad guesses...

BTW, some of you are exceptionally bad at guessing having already known the question and some of you are heroically good at guessing having not known the question.

I'm really impressed either way.  ;)

Lets hit the ground running yet again....

"topre/Hhkb silent"  There are bad guesses and really bad guesses, this is not one of them.

"Miniguru?"  A very wishful but sadly very wrong guess. *wipes tears*  although i did already as a gift

"1.In your dreams?
2.While you're awake?
3.Dead people like, in graves? In coffins?
4.How often do you see them?
5.Walking around like regular people.
They don't see each other. They only see
what they want to see. They don't know they're dead.
6.All the time. They're everywhere."

1,2, and 5 are wrong. Three, Four, and Six are also wrong.  I actually love #5, I still can't stop laughing! Forget the blind leading the blind, this should some how be combined into a new saying or perhaps a very deep poem.  LoL

"The Market For The IBM Model M"  ... is small and awkward as well as the wrong answer.

"Cloud of boobs"  Nope! But it gives me happy thoughts.

"Is the answer "Hint #2"?"   Is my answer a "nope"? Yup!

"Backlit Keyboard"?   NoPe!

"Dell XPS" Nope! but the reasoning behind it was mostly good, kinda.

"Apple M0110?"  Nada, but it made me smile

"a christmas tree"   Nope, maybe a different "tree" would be partially helpful.

"Zombie Key"  :rip:

Now that we're on a roll-

"Frankenstein"  Frankenwrong!

"Filco Zero"  Zero chance of this being the right answer.

Compaq rubber dome keyboard  Nope, but it makes the above two guesses look bad.

"Qsenn SEM-DT35 ?"  putting effort into it are we?  I can tell!  =)

"You hooked up with Mischa Barton?"   Who?

"Logitech G15 or G19"    eww, and no.

"IBM Beam Spring - Webwit paid you thousands to do a custom key!!!!!"   sniffle-sniffle, nope!

"HHKB Lite II"  hmmm...

"A devil key cap."   Not a chance in hell of being close.

"compaq rubber dome keyboard"  not an altogether horrible guess I suppose.

"Is it God?
 Dirt? Coffin? Vampire? Hades? Worms?"
  They can't help you.

"Skeletor"   greyskull is definitely not yours

"contest guess you haven't heard yet -
What quote scored #44 on AFI's 100 years... 100 movie quotes?
that guess is in response to hint number 10. hint one answers my question."
You're right, I've not heard that before.

Move 'em on, head 'em up,
Head 'em up, move 'em out,
Move 'em on, head 'em out Rawhide!

"Dell D630"  not a bad guess, I do believe someone beat you to the punch though. Or punched you to the beat (violent disco anyone?).

"Not sure what I'm guessing at but...
Plastic dog ****. "
                             Clearly

"Ok, I get it now...it's obviously...
...I Leopold TKL 2.0 with PBT key caps."
obviously not, but much better than your previous guess ^

"steve jobs?"   your guess is like so five minutes ago

"cough.. forget i said steve jobs >_________________>"
      Absolutely classic! LoL

"esc"        I would like to, but the  bad guesses keep coming.  XD

more productive guesses-

"Colored Markers caps from SixthSense Technology http://www.pranavmistry.com/projects/sixthsense/"   Nope! But these are fascinating guesses!

"let me try
and a Christmas stocking???"
 do I have to?  =P

"another shot
If not the Christmas stocking. maybe a plastic bag or an usps envelope.... "
  stop shooting things!

"and a keycap puller
clickclark special edition puller?"
  ='(

"Some version of IBM Thinkpad scissor switch?"   you mean the version that's nothing like that guess?

"is the question about an old (not modern) keyboard regarding weight ?
also, is this the proper format to ask / guess the question from you ?"
Proper? Sure. Correct? No. Considerate? Yes

"-Geekhack
 -Realforce
 -Crystal Keycap"
With our powers combined.... UBER NOPE!

"-Click Clack Keycap
 -Skull Keycap
 -A 87
 -Mx-Mini
 -ZPK "
so is this like your shoping list?

Ahhh, yes, post #33 has the correct guess in it.

So for those who did not find the question, it was-
"Name the first non-mechanical keyboard that I made a keycap for."

And the answer was-
"HHKB Lite II"

Other really good guesses were-
Dell Quiet Key
Dell Latitude D630 Laptop Keyboard
HP rubber dome
Apple aluminum keyboard

So who is this winnnah?...

Dont forget to pick the switch type for your initial main prize.
