terminal Model Ms - need advice before buying
« on: Mon, 19 December 2011, 04:37:42 »
Hello,

I found someone who has about 70kg of Ms for terminal to sell, french azerty. I don't need so much ! I don't ever need terminal keyboard, but this is what I've found :

  • DIN connector :
    • enhanced : 1390650
    • 122 keys : 1390586, 1390716, 1390890

    • "RJ45" connector : a 1394316, and another one "not IBM branded but similar"

I'm sure some of you have the knowledge to help me choosing the ones that will best fit my GNU/Linux box after a simple cable swap.

The vendor will give me more informations about the "not IBM" one ; could it be something else than a Lexmark 1397xxx ?

Is it possible to swap IC board of a 1390650 with one from a silent 71G4624 to get a loud enhanced Model M PS/2 keyboard ?

Thanks KillerBee ! Adding a 1390650 to my cart.

After some research, I believe 13906xx 13907xx and 13908xx are all designed for 319x terminals, and so suitable for cable swap.
    I didn't find anything about 1390586 and 1394316.

You're right kishy ! I also have to give a great thanks to JohnElliot, firstly about the break-code thing.

h2gofast : you will have nice readings here :

According to kbdbabel.org/conn/index.html keyboards with DIN45322 connector are all in the good list for me (3179/318x/319x).

The 1394316 with "RJ45" is still a mistery for me.

I only found RJ45 IBM keyboards for 3151 or infowindow (34xx) terminal, that's in the list !

Am I allowed to suppose all these keyboards with DIN or RJ45 are eligible for cable swap ?

    Aww, I want one.

Glad you found your information, though. Also, have you looked into soarer's project on making the XT ones work with a PC?

    One thousand !

If you live in Europe I may give you the contact, she has beetween 25 and 30 122-keys to sell, 10€ each, I'll just take one or two of these.

I had a quick look at teensy mod, but as a GNU/Linux user I'm ok with a simple cable swap. I'll have other keyboards around when needing to press F11 at boottime ;/
