Thanks - I feel no noticeable groove so I think the locking block should be ok. You were right about the spring - I had put it back incorrectly. Hopefully will get these to the range this weekend!

It could have came backwards. Many people don't know there is a correct alignment for them.
You didn't post picture of the magazine. I assume they have the zigzag tabs on the back and made in Germany?

Have fun at the range.

Yes the magazines have the zig-zag tabs on the back - they don't actually say where they're made but they're the originals (I even have the original box and documents it came with too) so I assume they are made in Germany as well.

I love lucky finds :) I don't have pix of this, but I picked up a high dollar value Anschutz .22LR cheaply. Guy thought it was an el cheapo .22 since he didn't know better, since it isn't an American brand ;)

Nice! Yea they had a brand new P226 there as well (these were the only two they had) and it was much larger, with a picatinny rail, threaded barrel, other bells & whistles, etc...

But that was more than double the price AND would be completely impractical for CCW (which I haven't decided if I will actually do yet, but still). Plus, this one is practically a piece of history. So far I think I've made the right choices...just can't wait to shoot 'em :)

Good stuff in this thread! I'll have to get some pics up of mine eventually:

Sig P229 in .40 with DAK trigger. Was my first purchase but ultimately I'm not really a fan of the trigger. Could convert to da/sa, but its too big for me to ever bother carrying so I'll probably just sell it -_-

H&K P2000sk, also in .40. Bought this lightly used off a friend. Pretty happy with it so far.

Ruger LCP - would love to sell this as well and pick up a Sig P238 for pocket carry, but so damn pricey!

Well, it's always been a franken-gun. Previously I had Essential Arms upper and lower receivers with a Bushmaster Barrel and a Del-ton bcg and lower parts kit. Oh and I was using a surefire drop in rail.

Now I have PSA upper, lower, and lower parts kit and a Core15 MPI bolt with full auto carrier and a Midwest two-piece free float rail. Same Bushy barrel, 14.5" with pinned YHM flash hider. LMT fixed rear sight. Magpul stock and magazines. I also added the VTAC flashlight mount, had VLTOR before but it was not offset and stuck out too far for me. Now I just ened to settle on an optic. I have had an AimPoint on it before but I sold it off and haven't replaced it.

Yeah, PSA has ridiculous deals, you feel like you have to spend money. I need to stop receiving their email specials.

PSA is like crack.. only bad thing is their shipping is slow if you order online..

just got my dissapator upper from them and almost have this project completed:

Just need a BCG, magpul handguards and will probably swap out the stock.

Have you looked at the E2 grips .. one of my favorite grips for the P226/p229's now. Slims the grip down a bit and for me makes it fit like a glove.. also like the rougher grip feel on it.

I actually did buy one of these grips...was about to try to install it tonight but found out I need to order a new hammer spring according to this guide (mine has the old, long hammer spring):
http://files.kensmith.de/Manual_for_installing_the_P226_E2_Grip_Kit_EN.pdf

It's definitely sexy though...anyone know where I can order a new P226 hammer spring?

http://www.gunsprings.com/Semi-Auto%20Pistols/SIG-SAUER%20%28SIGARMS%29/P-226/cID1/mID4/dID254 you want the plastic base springs.
You can pick up a recoil spring there too. I prefer factory stranded springs, but these will work fine.

Honestly, I haven't even shot it yet with the new Core15 BCG. But I am very impressed with it as far as fit and finish are concerned. Plus I was drawn to the fact that it was reasonably priced, MPI tested, and most importantly in stock. I wanted a heavier full auto carrier as well which was another reason for selling my old one. BCGs are hard to find right now it seems. I was gonna hold out for a PSA bcg but I got tired of waiting and they were saying in their arfcom thread that supply was severely back logged.

As for optics, I used to have an AimPoint M2. I liked it but decided I wanted to sell it and apply funds toward an AimPoint Micro. Well, the money went elsewhere, you know how it goes. I also had a Primary Arms Aimpoint clone which I was very pleased with, I just decided I wanted the real thing. I really like the AimPoint PRO optic they have out now. Great deal I think. It's bigger than the micro but so much more affordable. I might just run irons for a while and save my pennies.

Oh and nice dissy. I like those a lot.

Oh and I got to play with this toy yesterday. Sig 522 SBR with open bolt full auto conversion and AAC can. It's nice to know a class 3 dealer  ;)

SBR + Suppressor = WINNING....  :p

Thanks for letting me know about the CORE15 maybe I will check back with you when you have funny run some rounds through it... I was kicking myself for not picking some up on cyber monday this week when they were $98  :(

Also sounds like you went through some good choices on optics... I'm really like Aimpoint alot lately but they can get pricey.. I do like the PRO at its price point and picked one up when it was on sale... Good Luck on your search, there defintely is not a shortage of optics choices out there right now.

So, I killed it today at the range mah dudes...

P226:
I LOVE this gun. I don't have a whole lot more to say about it. It is without doubt the best gun I have ever shot. So smooth to shoot...beautiful crisp trigger on the single action. I did NOT shoot it double action...don't plan to. 50 rounds, no misfires, jams or failures of any kind. Cleaned and lubed it last night. Once I started to get used to the gun, adjusted my sights , etc. I was able to get some good groupings in the middle.

8768-0
8770-1

M&P22:
Surprising recoil for a .22LR but still super fun to shoot. Experienced one FTE which was good because my friend taught me how to properly clear it. Kept going after that with two more magazines and experienced no more failures. I think this inevitable because of the nature of the 22lr. I also was less accurate with this gun...although all these targets were shot at a much longer distance than with the P226, since I had done so well with that gun I wanted to give myself much more of a challenge. Not sure on the exact yardage though.

8772-2
8774-3
8776-4

You kinda patterned instead of grouped with the .22 ;p I bet the trigger is horrible (for a .22).

Yea I had a bit of a tough time staying on target with it. The trigger isn't "horrible" (like my friend's S&W Sigma), but it isn't anywhere near as nice as my P226 (the single-action on the P226 feels as crisp and smooth as that on a nice .38 revolver). I will need to practice more with it...in any case, the P226 is by far my favorite of the two. It is SUCH a great gun. I would say to anyone who is mildly interested, if they have any reservations, just get one. A lot of guns some people love, some hate. The P226 is practically impossible to hate...it just works.

Here are a few things that bother me about the M&P22 now that I'm thinking about it:
- The trigger
- The magazine
  (a) Doesn't slide nicely into the gun (can catch on something)
  (b) Doesn't neatly stack the ammo the way a typical single-stack mag should
  (c) Once it's in the gun, it can move around. Feels way too loose to me...doesn't snap in anywhere near as well as my Sig.

Here are a couple more pics taken from my bathroom (better lighting):
8881-0

See what I'm talking about with the M&P22 magazine? My friend said it's supposed to be that way but it looks weird to me:
8883-1

Now granted, the M&P22 is a cheap gun that shoots cheap ammo, so it is what it is. I just hope it will prove to be pretty reliable over time.

What is S&W doing with those mags. The design could be greatly improved... Seems like almost everyone cheaps out with combat style .22s... I guess the market forces isn't enough for them to make higher quality ones.

I see some finger gunk in the P226 slide serrations ;p

/Blasphemy. Is there a 1911 with bigger trigger guard? I hate tiny guards. I don't have sausage fingers, but I find it easier to transition the finger from along the frame to inside the guard when it has a huge opening.

Oh ya. Les Baer. /drool.

The only thing i don't like about it is the orange tip at the end of the muzzle.

I thought orange tips were only on guns that didn't fire real ammunition, like air soft guns etc., no?

It's just an airsoft replica of a Les Baer. I can't afford the real one.  :p
