Sweeeet! Gunpla on here too! I have a bit of a backlog of MGs and RGs as well as some HGs. I also have a few Tamiya kits too and other kits. I'll take photos tomorrow of all the kits I have! I need to get back into it, but the keyboard stuff has overtaken everything else right now.

My brother is currently in Japan. I told him to get me a Gunpla kit or two, I'm really excited to see what he brings back.

HG = 1/144 kits, usually for beginners
MG = 1/100 kits, usually for intermediate builders, but also very good for beginners and experienced
PG = 1/60 kits, usually for experienced, the best you're going to get

Nice I'll look for some 1/144 kits, anything you'd recommend?

My first HG (and very first Gunpla, actually) was the HG Quanta: http://blog.livedoor.jp/hacchaka/archives/51574734.html. A solid kit.
I'm a big fan of the Astray models, so any in those HG sizes I recommend as well.

I've never watched a single Gundam episode, so if there are any specific robots you like I'd take a stab to see if they're available in HG size.

Nice one, I'm thinking about starting with a cool looking RG model because apparently they are relatively as simple to build as HG but more detailed. RG is also 1/144, which is a nice size since I'll be displaying it on the corner of my desk.

I shouldn't have found this thread, these models are so cool. I wanna get started and for my first one I'm between these 2 guys, the mastery level to build them is the same from what I've read. The only difference is the size, the 00-Quanta is 1/144 (HG) while the MSF-007 is 1/100 (RE). I have patience to learn and time to spend building them so after preparing this reply I realized that I will most likely end up with both. I'll put the small one on my shelf and display the big one on the corner of my desk, since I have room for it and could use some extra purple decoration.

I would start with the MG. There's just something so satisfying about finishing an MG build, and they look infinitely more impressive on the shelf.

The build lasts longer, and the end product looks better. Win win  :thumb:

I have some experience with models becuase I used to spend quite some time building airplanes in the past. Even though there's a difficulty degree to Gundam at least the paintjob is already done, these two models I linked come ready out of the box. But I'll probably get a black panel lining marker just in case. I don't wanna add anything to 00Q but perhaps the MSF will benefit from some extra detail here and there, let's see how it's gonna look like after assembly and then I'll decide if I'll detail it or not. I like clean builds and don't want to ruin these gorgeous colors and surfaces.

My first Gunpla, the Quanta, took me about a week. And I was super slow. They're really awesome, and amazingly articulated. Bandai has some genius engineers for their products.

I prefer MG only because they're bigger and have more details, etc. The HG will run you just over a GI Joe figure, but they're very good for beginners. I forgot about RG. Those are good too. MG in a smaller size.

Also, the instructions are not a hindrance. Yes, they're all in Japanese, but the labels and instructions are so well documented with images and numbers that you won't ever need to read except for label numbers and letters.

Nice, thanks for the heads up. I'll look into RG later but for now I'll stick to the MSF-007 which is RE (1/100). From what I've read it's as simple to build as HG but has MG level of detail - it's a combination of two very popular grades. I also noticed that you mentioned earlier that you never watched a single episode and I'm in the same boat as you, not a big fan of animes either. But the robots, damn they look cool man.

Oh man, I got a buttload of gunpla while at Korea. Didn't realize that a Gundam Expo was yesterday..... Completely missed it.

Anyways, I got HGUC Unicorn, an MG Sinanju, and an MG Strike Rouge Ver.RM which I didn't realize in store that it was a shade of pink. Thought it was off white. Pictures will be posted when I'm back in the states.

White/Blue/Red/Yellow? I could see that working for sure. In fact it's surprising there hasn't been a GB since there was a Macross key set.

It's hard to get back into it without any new animes to get excited about.

Recent animes:
Thunderbolt
Build Fighters Try
Iron Blooded Orphans
Unicorn (rehash of sorts of the OVA)
The Origin

Upcoming:
Iron Blooded Orphans Season 2
Build Fighters Try: Island Wars.

None of those get you exited?

Anyways, anyone happen to have this compressor? https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00WBT7PTW/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=1X5QBAIAU8629&coliid=I2LKERJCULTL68

Looking into a replacement and like the 5 year warranty aspect, along with the fact that it has a tank.  I really want to do my MG Sinanju justice with a metallic/candy red finish.

None of those have got my heart going, like Gundam 00...

Not saying they're bad..

the Gundam Try , I think was targeted towards a much younger crowd.. Kinda off beat for the older gundam fan..

Unicorn just feels too low tech,   and Origin is well, if you saw the original, then it's a bit weak..  i mean, ,at least give us n jammers..

Gundam DD 00 is pretty good, I just wish we would get a MG Dynames.

Honestly, give Build Fighters a shot.  I thought the same thing, but gave it a fair chance and thought it was pretty good.  Sure, its lighter and not a war-gritty show like 08 MS Team, but it still has some good looking MS designs and fights.

Add a MG Jegan (specifically Stark Jegan) to the list in addition to the Tequila.  Problem is it seems that Bandai has been going downhill on the MG line, or at least in my opinion.  A lot of the 2015 MGs were some form of a variant that Bandai could use preexisting molds.  Hopefully we see some cool stuff in the upcoming months.  Maybe even see some MG 00 models with the 10 year anniversary coming up.  Although considering that we have not even had a MG G-Self, MG Barbatos, or MG Build Burning Gundam I dont really have my hopes up.

Iron blood has too much non-gundam-related story plot.. unnecessary, because it doesn't serve the GUNDAM in any way,  no one really cares about the revolution,  only that the revolution leads to more COOL GUNDAMS.

RE 1/100 Bawoo announced:

Bawoo 1/100:

I would prefer a MG, but this is still pretty nice.  Maybe even seeing a P Bandai 1/100 ReBawoo later?

ReBawoo:

Recently moved to a new apartment, so not much to add in terms of new purchases.  I did manage to buy a Gundam Planet Nipper on Amazon though.  Hopefully get to test it on a MG Freedom V2 this weekend.

What's the US price..

Very early in the announcement, so I don't think the price has been released.

I'd guesstimate around$40 USD based on previous RE models (price taken from amazon):
RE/100 Gundam MK III: $39.99
RE/100: Djijeh: $36.95
RE/100: GP04: $38.69
RE/100: Efreet Kai: $33.02

Price is including Prime-2 Day shipping; so free if you're a prime member. (Technically paying for it w/ your subscription.)

I remember hearing something about a Kshatriya rumor, but have not heard anything since.  If it does come out, I look forward to see some of the custom builders/ pros have a take at it.

Gundam.Wikia is showing Bawoo at 3,500 ~ $35 USD.

Gundam.Wikia is showing Bawoo at 3,500 ~ $35 USD.
Ahh right, pretty sure they said the kshatriya might be out 3rd quarter of this year, hopeing they making that Jegan RE they showed a while back on the planning stage though

Does anyone know where I can find replacement parts for a MG kit? I tried gundamstoreandmore.com but never got a response. I know I could mold and cast it but I really don't want to invest in all that if I can help it. It's a really small part that is probably used in multiple kits but I don't know which and the sellers I've contacted either don't have it, don't respond, or don't carry parts for MG. I'm dying here as I'm mostly done painting but can't really do anything until I get this part

It's from a 1/144 scale MG MS-06S Zaku II. Sprue #F-28. It's a tiny part that connects the shoulder and arm. I'll see if I can upload a picture from the manual in a little bit.

You sure its a MG? MGs come in at 1/100 scale. If it is 1/144 then it might be a HGUC or a RG.

(Assuming you're US) Not sure if they're still doing it, but BlueFinCorp is the main US distributor & has a page about replacement parts: http://www.bluefincorp.com/catalog/replace

It is 1/100 and I didn't order it through a bluefin distributor so Idk if they'd ship the piece without some kind of proof of purchase

Also, based on that link, it says replacement parts are suspended atm

It's this little guy here.  It's part of the body unit where the should attaches. And I said 1/144 scale but it's 1/100.

I've never really had to do any gold plating type kit, but my best guest would be these option:

Buy the plate version & be very careful on nub management. Then use a gold gundam marker to hide any imperfections and cuts.

Airbrush/ spray can gold paint onto it.  The biggest problem is just finding a gold that looks right - I've seen some custom painted gold kits look amazing, and others not so much.  This video may be helpful on finding the gold you like best:
