Just received a response from Kuang saying the name plate will be done next week. I'm also the 2nd order and it sounds like he's doing this in order, so maybe this update does not apply to everyone, but I would assume all name plates are being done at the same time

i had also just received an email asking for my shipping address and phone number (seems like jhoang didn't transfer these info to kuang, but then i don't really remember what information i did give jhoang). he also says that it will take one week or longer to complete the assembly. no mention about name plates, but i would assume he is prioritizing local orders of which mine is one

I've been trying to keep up with the progress of this group buy. I am sort of on the fence at this point if I want to continue with this buy or if I should back out or maybe sell off the keyboard after I receive it. kuang is responding to emails.  You should email him your shipping address that corresponds to your paypal and order number "E**" b/c all he has is the spreadsheet with order details and paypal address.  It appears that he is shipping the boards in the near future.  He's currently working on engraving.  The biggest issue I see here is that what in the F are we going to do if we have issues?  What if the PCB is screwed up?  What if we aren't happy with the anodization or engraving?  I'm not sure who will be able or willing to help us with our issues since the original group buy leader is MIA.  I'm staying in it.  Probably stupid, but I've done dumber things in my life.

just got another email from kuang, he was inspecting my assembly order and advised me not to go with 55g sprit springs + lubed vintage blacks because this combo is even lighter than stock reds according to him. not only that he even gave me a list of alternatives for my convinience. thanks to his advice i have chosen to go with 65g springs, or 62g if 65g aren't available.

i normally wouldn't detail private interactions in such a public manner, but after what jhoang put us through i think more information can only be a good thing. thumbs up to mr. kuang for such dedication!

another update to keep you guys at ease

i've had a couple more email exchanges with kuang since my last post, the most recent correspondence being an email from him i received about an hour ago. we discussed numerous topics, including information about some fellow members here which i won't share publicly. other than that, we talked about avoiding cheap keyboard sets on Taobao, discussed in detail what soldering kit to buy and where to find other components/accessories for assembly. the general conclusion is that Taobao is great for switches, stickers, leds, etc. and springs/stabs should be sourced from Koreans.

he gave me a one week time line for full assembly (this was more than 3 days ago) and offered to fix any issues that occur during usage free of charge. he also says feel free to come by his place to hang out, some other people used to visit to learn soldering and now just comes over to chat every once in a while

He replied to my email saying he would let me know when my board was ready.  I wasn't getting assembly or anything and as far as I can tell he has all the other pieces (i think mine is the top right one in the picture 'joinhandmade' posted).  Only thing I can think is he is trying to get the engraving done?  I said in my message I was fine not getting the engraving and paying him for shipping, so not sure what the hold up is.

Dont think that helps since the dispute / returned money should show up as a separate entity. At least it does thta from the perspective as a seller.

I don't see a way to verify it unless we each privately message him and provide screenshots of a few things, namely the timeline of transactions on your account going back to the original transaction and transaction details.  I don't know how many will want to provide that in public since people pay for crazy stuff with paypal but I don't see a different option.
