Favorite plate material

What are your guys's favorite plate material?

I gather that most retail boards have a steel plate?

However for example Duck's Orion V2 allow for aluminum and plastic.  I have also seen some Kustoms with polycarbonate which i gather is some tough kind of plastic?

So do I have the correct the sturdiness as follows? = Steel > Aluminum > Plastic.

So when you have a plastic plate do you get a similar feeling as with pcb mount but with a little bit more sturdiness?  I've also seen half plates, is the philosophy behind them to provide some sturdiness to the board but not too much, or do people simply want pcb mount with the alphas and plate mount with the mods or something like that? and if yes, why?

So I gather that some people like boards that give in when using tactile switches.  I for one at least know that I disable pcb mount even with tactile switches, does that mean that I won't want to bother with anything less sturdy than steel?
