HHKB pro 2 is on the way

hi. everyone, after over a month waiting time, my pro2 is on the way from Elite keyboards.

can anyone tell me about the key layout on the pro 2? I believe couple keys or Fn are set different than regular layout.

or any information links are welcome.

it seems when press Fn you need left hand to press other keys to work, can't use one hand to press Fn and other keys.
by the way, any substitute then press Fn key to get " Enter" work? umm not very convenient.

IMHO, the HHKB is great.  Amazingly, when I am on a "full sized" keyboard, I feel like I'm missing keys due to the great Fn + combinations on the HHKB.

Agreed.  I did have to supplement mine with a Realforce 23UB, because I work in retail and use the numpad a lot.

It works right out of the box.  That diagram is a little confusing.  On the DIP switches, just turn 1 and 3 on, and you'll be golden.  I also turn 4 on which turns the left Meta key into and additional Fn key, but I hardly ever use it.

Enter and Return mean much the same thing nowadays. The Enter key evolved from "Carriage Return" on typewriters.

If anyone owns a Samsung NC10, they will notice that the return key on it's keyboard has an Fn function which is the numpad enter. Mac keyboards emphasize this distinction by giving numpad enter it's own symbol.

This.  I work with some IBM 3270 terminal emulators that depend on this where the numpad Enter is used for the "real" Enter key and the keyboard Enter key acts as just a carriage return. This can be changed in mapping, however.

Of course. The problem is that when the return key has wording on it, more often than not it says "Enter". It annoyed me when they started doing that, but it's been common for over twenty years now.

There are keyboards which indeed have different keys labeled "Enter" and "Return". The IBM 3277 Display Station had such a keyboard.

But the IBM PC does not. Of course, it is true that the main Enter key and the one on the numeric keypad have different scan codes, and so some games might distinguish between them. Also, it appears from your post that you may be discussing the Macintosh keyboard.

Ehr, my model F AT does have "Enter" printed on the return key, right next to the ↵ symbol. The XT has only the symbol on it's long vertical cap.

The Mac is the main example, but I can think of some PC games that have the two keys mapped to different things.
