Glad the Antiquated Green made it!

The Vandals look great.  :thumb:
People in the 1980s, in general, were clearly just better than we are now in every measurable way.

The dumber the reason the more it must be done

And this, kids, is why you don't use a macro lens to take a photo of an entire keyboard.  :))

I mean it's not necessarily terrible, but I'm not happy with it.  This was taken at f/22, ISO 200, yet looks terribly grainy and has a narrower DOF than I'd like.  :|  I had a bear of a time getting this photo to look half decent.  Maybe my lack of expertise is the cause of this...

Huh, I don't know anything about photography, but this pic and that board looks really good.  The texture for that case looks pretty interesting.  I looked up the Skeldon case which was aluminum, but this looks a bit different?

Beautiful pic, HendyZone. :)  All of your guys' photos of Charred Orange makes me want to get this set again.  I thought about it earlier but didn't want to risk having issues with Originative.

It is a Skeldon!  :)  And it's not necessarily impossible to take a good photo like this with a macro lens, I'm just having harder time.   :-[ :))

Also, this seems like an appropriate time to post this photo as well.  :)  Macro is much better for me it seems.  And naasfu, note the texture on the case - haven't really seen that on anything other than the Skeldon, it's pretty interesting.

So what's the difference between doing this and just shooting at f/22, for example?  Does it not only increase DOF but also just improves the focus somehow?  Nice shot BTW.  :D

Exactly what I asked the other day. :P

Here's a copypaste:
Quote from: tbc
2 problems

actually 4
**** there mught be a lot
Lets start
1.  there is a max fstop.  eventually, you will hit it and cannot increase your DOF period
The limit for focus stacking is simpy how many photos and how much time you want to take
2. There are some times where you simply can't get more light without ruining your picture
2a extra light creates hotspots
2b a higher aperature creates more noticable starbursts
3.  diffraction
4. one must remember that only one point (distance) is ever in focus ever
Everything in front of that point and behind it is in slightly less, but still acceptable focus
if you require maximum detail on multiple points of the subject, you must focus stack
Otherwise, one important point will have 100% focus and others will have 95% etc
5.  lens work best at certain settings
not only will diffraction occur at f22, but it's also likely that the lens was actually optimized for f8.  So you've reduced your image quality in 2 ways
does that all make sense?

Just got a new camera for a really good price but the lens it came with was broken (hence the good price) so I pulled out a really old Fuji 50mm and hand held it reversed on the lens mount. Turned out pretty well.

Damn that's some beautiful shots right here. With all your pretty pictures guys you make me want to get into the photography. I already have a camera but I'm lazy to learn it proper. Too many things to do already. I don't want to add something on that list before lessen it first.

I...wat.  The picture had only loaded halfway (not even showing the board yet) and I already knew I would regret this...

...There's nothing to say here.

While exploring the northiest reaches of Kaplandia part of the Soviet expedition team got lost. While they waited for help to arrive they crafted a small fire.

As the last embers died out they wondered if they would ever see the Motherland again.

In Soviet Russia the key cap you.

Cool picture, and even better story.

Thanks! It's snowing in Texas, which is odd. We generally just get ice. Thought it a good opportunity.

I have more in the same vein.
