Currently using (and getting used to) this tiny set up!  I didn't feel like fixing the white balance, as this shows the actual atmospheric lighting as I see it on my desk, with light from my monitors and some from the windows :)

I really love that board, the lighting on it and the case are so well matched

Thanks, I like it more than I thought I would, initially, as I was never a fan of 60% set ups.  The LEDs on the purple plate basically look a nice raspberry color, pretty unusual.

Got my Gasmasks yesterday so today was a good time to make some better pics of them. :)

I wanted to compare the colours to the G1 one and while it's very close on camera at first they are certainly different:

The G2 is quite a bit paler in comparison.

Sweet :)

Some of those look a good match for the Toxic set.
They certainly are. I'm kind of jealous at people who have that set now. :P

It was also a good time to reorganize my keycap case:

Buy/build that keycap case? That's sweet!

Question:
Those who post amazing pictures in this thread: Do you use a "photography" camera or do some simply use cellphones with good lighting and/or settings?

I can't speak for the others, but for me, lighting plays a pretty huge part in my pictures, with natural light being best.

I use an old Sony Nex-5 with some vintage 50mm and sometimes a 100mm macro.

But in the end it really is all about using a quiet background and some separate lights. Natural lighting works best for most people but where I live that will only work during summer. So I use some separate lights I got off eBay. Look for some of my other posts in this thread, we had this discussion and some very good tips several times before. :)

What you see there is the keyboard on my (giant) mouse mat and some LED lights that are located far to the left to reduce glare.

Thanks for the tips! I think my issue is bad lighting in my room, so I'll work on that. Sorry I have not gone through the other pages in this thread, but I will now.  :D

I use a what you call photography camera, and some nice lenses. Lightning is everything, may it be natural or artificial light. Mostly it is enough to have a serious flash and play with the flash direction. That's the easiest way for me, but the best is natural light - it must not be the sun, could be the monitor or some other light in the room. Then play with the white balance, to get the mood you want. Or get it straight out of the cam! There are so many possibilities, and so many different ways of getting your pic and that's basically the fun of photography :)

Mine aren't amazing, but I took these with an iphone6 in the dark with only my two monitors as light:

It seems like they're bright enough. I'm gonna have to try using them as my primary light source again.  :D

My friend, I'm sure you take splendid photos. It just takes a lot of practice and experimenting in your environment, and you'll eventually hit the sweet spot.

It's very difficult to take a good shot with your phone camera, but if you have a tripod for it, it can be done. You don't need a ridiculous camera to get good looking photos. Most DSLR's these days are very good. It's mainly the lens, and then most importantly, the lighting. I use Micro Four Thirds. I just love the system because of how fast it is.

PRACTICES MAKES PERFECT :)

As I mentioned above, I use an old crappy camera! What I did to improve the picture quality, though, was to make sure I was in a well lit area. I also used the timer on my camera so that the photo isn't blurry from me pressing the shutter button. And I turned down the ISO sensitivity? I'm not really sure what that does, but it made my pictures look better, so...

I modded them to pink, I might put in the 2x3x4 pink LEDs I have though, or just SIP sockets since the other ones are more hot pink

Had a little more fun with my ghetto setup.  Used for this shot:  two clamp lights with 60w or so bulbs, a bigass pipe, sheet of oiled paper as diffuser, second sheet of paper for additional diffusion/color/pattern, a little water, and a tripod along with my slowly dying D70 shot with a 50mm f/1.8 lens at around f/13.

Photos are unretouched.
