That would be my custom cap from XX7 Keycaps. It's pretty nice.

Took a little more time for a photo

Using sponges like that is so simple but such a good idea. I'm going to have to steal that. Or maybe wood blocks and some bolts drilled in to hold the plate/PCB in place

There was some guy on OTD who did something like this, but he made them out of aluminum, really nice, but probably really expensive as well

I use some old yogurt plastic boxes that I cleaned. They have 6 slots in them so I can store the screws as well in it. Really practical.

"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

I have them all over my buckling spring keyboards, and it is definitely something you can get used to!  None of mine are stepped AND windowed though.

Testing the layout for my BFace w/ Miami & Skidata. Opting to go w/ a US ISO layout with this one for maximum compatibility

The yellow shifts are there because I don't have the proper sized enters :( and once again the infamous PwnNarwhal knee makes it into the photo ;)

Miami looks best ;)

It does, I built the board originally 5 months ago for Miami Twice, then I ****ed up the Pcb trying to desoldered a faulty LED and I only got around to buying a new pcb now. I completely forgot that my plate doesn't support ISO, which is a shame because being be able to use skidata

Well, they're almost on par with vintage blacks. Tiny bit less smooth, but not really noticeable. Weight-wise they're a little lighter than blacks, heavier than reds. The stem is a really tight fit, imagine clears on DSA but for everything.

Sounds like a switch I'd enjoy, hopefully I'll get to try them at some point. Aren't they pretty rare?

Sort of yeah. By far the most common of all the hiroses though. QX3's (one of 2 boards known to have them) pop up on Ebay once or twice a year but usually go for $120+. I found mine on the Japanese Yahoo auctions for $60 and I'm assuming they'll be a bit cheaper where they originated.
