Love that top photo. Setups with terminals like that are the best.

I find the Japanese characters on the pads visually pleasing.

Looks like they're ~$20 :-\

Artisan Zero and Hien. Fancy mousepads from Japan. Supposedly they're about to revamp their product line.

Cost a premium but they're all I use anymore.

Decided to get rid of the tv above my monitors and bring them up higher. That 4th "monitor" thing was so impractical and I never used it for watching tv either.

Also got this huge mousepad.

1. What size screens are those? And what did you use to mount them to the wall?

2. Just got that pad myself. It's absolutely glorious.

Very nice clean setup :)

But for some reason it always reminds me of a dentist's consulting room
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

I like those old Steelcase desks too. I saw one cheap awhile back at the local Salvation Army, the larger version with drawers on both sides that are about 2-3ft. longer. I was thinking about getting it but it's finish was in terrible shape. I considered for a moment having it powdercoated or something but then the cost of that and... well I didn't get it. I kind of regret it now as my current desktop has started getting saggy in the middle. Damn Ikea.

If you have the space and a little extra to spend over Ikea tops.
Ikea has a countertop like this but it's larger and thicker. Seemed to be overkill when I was researching desktops.

Yeah, mine is a similar size same length but less depth. I think I only paid $30 for it at Ikea so am not all that surprised it hasn't held up well with the weight of my PC (especially since my old set up was on water and pretty heavy) and 27" display. I like the design aesthetic of Ikea stuff, but honestly most of their products are made like ****. That's how they can sell it for cheap I suppose.
I think the 60x25" would be about perfect for me really... I might have to think about that. I was thinking about ordering a countertop at the hardware store or something but they aren't really that much cheaper for non mdf junk.

I have two of the tops I linked, one for me and one for the wife. They are beautifully made. The description says if they are being used for kitchen countertops additional sanding would be required but the two I have are perfect. The Durakryl finish is exceptionally durable and I haven't left any marks in it yet, and you don’t have to oil it which is one thing I wanted to avoid. Some cheaper tops you have to sand, finish, and oil. A greasy feeling desk doesn’t sound appealing.

I live close enough that I just drove up to PA to pick them up instead of paying the shipping costs, so that helped. I spent a good amount of time researching these tops and trying to find the best bang for the buck and I couldn’t find anything better than Grizzly. If you do search around find tops with Durakryl finish.

I posted some photos in this thread a while back, the link is in my signature.

Nice, this is exactly what I was looking for to use as a replacement top for my sit/stand desk. It was built for a corner and is kind of an awkward shape so this would be perfect (and a lot easier than finding something and planing/ staining it myself)

Hey guys, I need to tap into your infinite wisdom. I've got some new speakers here and I'm unsure of how to fit them into my desk setup in a visually appealing way. Having them out front seems a bit strange. I thought about getting floor standing mounts but that might put them out too far. Thoughts?

(Attachment Link)

Genelec enthusiast over here!

get some stands for them, search in the manual what's the dynamic point of your speakers, it's usually in the middle,  between the tweeter and the main speaker. Thats where your ears should be, and then keep em as close to the wall as possible, since those have a rear bass port, they shouldn't be any farther than 20 cm from the wall.

Is it weird that I am more into your desk, lamp, mirror etc than your computer parts?  :blank:

this is the desk:

as for the mirror and "sexy lamp" as we call it, I have no clue where they came from. Both were gifts.

Got a 'new' desk :) Nice vintage All Steel Equipment brand, same as my chair... how cool is that?

Still need to do some work on figuring out how to better arrange the area though... have no idea where to put my printer currently as I lost the space of being able to put it under the desk since there are now drawers on this one.

That's a cool looking desk :). Chair doesn't look very comfortable though.

I like my chair. It's back section has a huge spring pivot thing with adjustable tension and height. I've got it set just how I like it so it lines up with my lower back. Though I could probably use redoing the seat cushion again as the foam has degraded.
I'm thinking I may look into having the both of them powedercoated in some loud colors when I have some extra money.
