Allow me to introduce you to GMK Minimal, a set with minimal looks and minimal cost!

Inspiration
We have a lot of colourful keysets in this hobby with very feature rich base kits. These can be great, but let's face it: sometimes less really is more. Sometimes you don't want a super "loud" keyboard, and many times people pay for a lot of keys they never end up using. Furthermore, white keyboard finishes have been on the rise but sadly we don't have a lot of sets that match this very well. This is when me and Ryan (/u/quaddepo) came together and decided to bring you this set.
Kit design

This kit features all keys to cover the most popular layouts in this community while cutting out keys that aren't often used. To keep in line with the Minimal theme we decided on all text modifiers with a timeless black on white colourway. This set uses GMK stock colours, WS1 and CR respectively. WS1 is the perfect white for this set, since it's purer than CP while not being as "in your face" as WS2. This also plays along nicely with the fact that most keyboard finishes are a more dull white, compared to the very bright WS2.

Just FYI, from rules perspective, this thread should not have been approved due to concurrent GB limit per member. But since it already happened (seems like as an honest oversight), we'll let it go this time.
Good point, the rules need changing now that it's easy to run a set through vendors. Two options would be: you'll change it to x amount per involved vendor (which would be ****) or you all out remove the threadcap for stuff running through vendors and only apply it to GBs where the money goes directly through the GB runner.
This rule was made to make Ivaning less likely, if the runner doesn't even handle the money this obviously isn't a problem.

So… this has come up a few times by others and hasn't been responded to yet… and I need to know before I make any purchase. The ortho kit has a critical issue that is going to turn away potential buyers if not addressed for a kit that will probably already struggle to hit MOQ. The standard is for a Row 2 TAB and a Row 3 ESC, and that is what a lot of people use. The renders have those keys reversed (Row 2 ESC and Row 3 TAB), and the kit layout also implies the same. Please clarify/update us so we know what the plan is, I'm sure more than a handful of people might overlook this point assuming they are getting the standard offering only to find out later that the profile on 2 keys is wrong. I would be incredibly upset if that were to happen to me. I don't mean to harp on this, but it's kind of frustrating to not know this important detail for what is otherwise a fantastic set. :) Thanks!

Your concern is entirely valid and I mean in no way to discredit it but I think a $20 kit with white convex small space bars won't have any issue hitting MOQ.

We've been splitting kits for ages (40s kits, spacebars kits, ...) even tho it would be cheaper for the people buying both to put it in one kit. We do this to prevent a lot of people paying for keys they don't need.
I personally don't think price per key is the same as value if you don't use half of the keys you bought. Looking at the sales numbers so far about 80% of people only buy/need the base, so while they're paying more per key they're also paying for less keys they don't need and thus paying less in total. So I would say this is a better deal for those 80% of people.

Not sure about profit margins on these, but also consider that Calm depths is at 250 MOQ (likely), while I guess Minimal is listed (probably?) at 150 MOQ which will be more expensive. When working out pricing of GMK Nines, I also felt that Calm Depths was much more well priced despite me having very low margins, until I realised I was comparing 150 to 250 MOQ. At 250 MOQ, my pricing was more justified.
That could be a reason, margins could be another - I won't speculate in that.

At €89 vendors would be selling at a loss.
Also, AFAIK colours don't impact price, Jamon actually was $114.99 at 250 MOQ (so more than Minimal) and only dropped down to 99.99 at 500 (just like Minimal) + I have heard from multiple "reputable sources" now that Massdrop gets better deals from GMK and thus are able to offer lower pricing (or make more profit I guess).

GMK still has a much higher quality than epbt imo, if you dont hate abs.

I'm in for a base set + numpad from the EU proxy but I have a question: does anybody here know what color code is the white in the Massdrop GMK WoB set? I'm thinking of mixing the two sets and having the same white would be a bonus.
Same colors as Minimal - CR base, WS1 legends - so you're good.

Yeah, that'äs what I love about GMK stock colors!
However, be careful with the mix and match. Mixing mods probably isn't the best idea, as minimal is text mods while WoB on MD is text+icon.
I imagine accenting arrows and ESC for example would be nice, but enter would look kinda off to me personally. Good luck!

MOQ has indeed been met!!! Sales are about on par with Modern Dolch when comparing how much that sold after the same amount of time, so 500 MOQ might be possible!!! Also, while MOQ for the - and + kit has not been hit yet it's fair to say that they will be made for sure since we're coming close and the GB still will be live for some time.

4 to 6 months has been the norm for most GMK buys, I don't think August is really that far fetched at all.

Meaning? I assume you are inferring stock colours mean shorter lead times but are stock colour set ETAs really under 4 months? I didn't think that was the case, the Skidata rerun uses stock colours only as well and it's also shipping in or after late August. Maybe I'm missing something though, my latest GMK set I bought was Space Cadet so it's been a couple months since I closely followed timelines and whatnot.

I guess I might be confused. Jamon seems like it didn’t close too long ago and they’re expecting to ship in June.
Jamón ended March 1st (just about a month before Minimal's close) and the current ETA is June 20th according to the MD discussion page, so slightly shorter of a timeline estimate - barely, though. I don't know how much of that has to do with the amount of pull MD has with GMK, being by far their biggest hobby-related customer, but either way it seems relatively close.

It seems to not always be the same though. Carbon took a solid 5.5 months.
Carbon taking longer might have been something to do with all the new tooling that was created.

I did see your post; and how I found is exactly how it ticked me off.
Some key changes were snaked sneaked in in a small kit 1) after the payments have been made 2) without absolutely any announcement or notification 3) not even reflected in the websites where participants paid for them.
That's not how a groupbuy should work. That's not even how any product development should work. I feel scammed.
Edit: to be fair, I'll wait for the final product to arrive to see what is exactly inside the box, but this doesn't look like it bodes well in my book.

The simplest explanation is that the switch is cockeyed. I've gotta take apart my Canoe, but I know my right shift is fine (had this set of Serika installed on another board) but it's a bit crooked on the Canoe. My other Serika right-shift is the same way on this board.
Try another control or caps lock keycap.

I think that's the general consensus but he hasn't responded. Never had a GMK cap actually be crooked, personally. And I've had a ton of them. The WoB set is for multiple layouts. That was my first set and it's great! I can't wait to add R0 and R5 to it. The way they are doing red samurai now is only for their boards. Which is silly.

Literally the only reason I passed on round 1. I wanted too be able to interchange with my WoB set if I so desired and still have consistent legends.

It's become much more expensive aftermarket than what I figured a simple white set would be. If you pay only double the group buy price for GMK minimal, you've now done well.

- The 1.75u Shift has a double-shot problem whereby the black comes through to form a spot on the side of the keycap
- The 1.5 Pipe key has the same problem on the on the periphery of the top the cap; it's faint but it's there
- The 2.75 Shift is very bold compared to the other Shift keys
- Misc font inconsistencies

I personally haven't heard anything, but I'd imagine that even if there was a R2 it wouldn't happen anytime soon. Have you considered GMK Bleached? Uses a cooler white compared to Minimal's warmer white.

Why does it look like the "M" button is in bold font, it kinda sticks out, is it supposed to be or are my eyes finally dying on me.
