I love the layout and the overall concept. I don't understand why carbon fiber... but still very interesting project.

This.

I think the point of using carbon fiber in products is the weight it can save, but using it with an alu housing, I don't see why

I think there are two good reasons for it.
1-I don't think we've seen a carbon fiber plate
2-I think it looks pretty awesome

Perhaps there is also something to do with the actual hot swapping?

That's exactly my thought. I like it. I doubt it's a huge difference between machining aluminum anyway, and it's worth trying out.

Very, very interested!
Now, given my FC660M with Greens turned up yesterday, need to make the finances work...

For sale: one hardly used Leopold FC660C Topre 45g uniform keyboard, grey on black, AU. Nothing wrong with it, Topre just isn't my thing.
For sale: one barely used Leopold FC660M with MX Clears, white on white, AU. Nothing wrong with it, I just worked out that I'm all about the click and heavy switches, so it's out with the Clears and in with the Greens.
Model M Industrial, SSK, Unicomp 104, Code TKL MX Green, FC660M MX Green + Clear + White + Grey, FC660C Topre 45g, MagicForce 68 USB and Bluetooth, Whitefox, some optical switch 65% Bluetooth split spacebar thing ... wait, I think I need an intervention. Too late, there’s a couple of new Model Fs on the way.
Too much SA is never enough.

I just bought a lightsaver v1 so my wallet is empty  :( but I would consider selling it for this :thumb: but it also depends on how when the gb starts
People in the 1980s, in general, were clearly just better than we are now in every measurable way.

Any ETA on this board?   I'd like two please!!   Also, I'm guessing that this board will require new MX switches?   I love Carbon Fiber.   Any chance of a Carbon Fiber case?   Or titanium??

I am intrigued, but before I bite I would need a better definition of "fully programmable." Are we talking Fn/Pn/macro programming?  Or full firmware flashing (eg, non-qwerty layouts, custom layers, etc)?

I personally assumed the latter but would be good to get a confirmation on that! xD

Thinking about the Fn key location (on a lateral aspect), it makes more sense where it is now, than the supposedly aesthetically balanced position aligned to the spacebar. Alignment vs symmetry to the case.

The left thumb rests within the left side of the spacebar, and the right thumb will require more reach than the , key when reaching the far top right hand corner of the keyboard. Aesthetics aside, the functionality of its location is where its beauty is at.

On another thought, I would still much prefer to have the option to move the fn key to the normal switches. Using a wrist rest would make the current side FN a difficult button to reach!

The video showing the switch insertion, keycap removal and fn key pressing, seems to suggest that the fn key is lighter than a conventional tactile mouse switch, more more like a longer throw microswitch?? If you had pictures of the actual switch used, or its implementation, it would be nice.
Secondly, the video shows a case that has 4 rubber feet, and no extendable legs.

I am waiting for this board to become reality! I want two right now :(  (and I have put off buying any more 60% boards in expectation of this one becoming real)

With being able to hotswap switches and change the layout on the fly I'm only assuming that
you will be able to flash the firmware. If not, it would be fairly pointless.

What are the color options? Would love something more than the typical black, red, grey or silver. Would love some more vibrant options.

We don't know yet what colors wil be available. I hope there're more vibrant options too. Like blue, purple, orange, green? :D

Any of those would be awesome! Very excited for this!

Any idea how long till a GB would be possible to start?

I'm still working on it. I think I'll let Massdrop handle this group buy since the factory requires 100 pcs MOQ and it's hard for me to make it happen on my own. If everything goes well, we might be able to see the group buy starting in 3 weeks.

How accurate is this at the moment? Is it looking likely that a GB of this be released this week on massdrop? Because I can't wait any longer for this  ;D

Also a few questions.
1. Are there any plans to sell the carbon fibre plate separately? (thinking of getting an extra plate depending on price/ shipping cost)
2. What's the situation with the case? Will there be choice of different colored cases?
3. Following question 2, will there be different colored choices for the FN button
