I agree with that opinion of the green spacebars, spacebar kit definitely needs to be updated.

Besides this, removing the R3 ctrl sounds doable to me. A quick question to HHKB users tho, do you really need a R3 ctrl?

tbh, I don't think I wanna sacrifice any individual novelty key, neither does Monkey six.

I guess we need to start a poll...if I figure out how to start one.. ;D

Sorry guys if I don't quote all of your useful suggetions in my reply..
It's just multi-quote is a headache here...especially to someone who doesn't post a lot.

Do.... NOT.... remove R3 control. It's not HHKB specific either. Let the record stand, I'm totally out of this GB is R3 ctrl goes.  >:D

Edit: IDC about stepped R3 control. That can go for all I care. But standard R3 ctrl is a must.

Any chance we can get the red space bars instead of green ones? Wouldn't the idea of the additional space bar kits is to have alternatives color different than the mods? Which in this case is green?

Suggestions:

Keep the LED windowed keys.
Keep the maroon novelty arrows.

Drop the stepped Control key.
Drop the green novelty arrows.

Add 2 x R4 1.5u Meta keys or novelty keys? This would add HHKB-style support with the outer bottom row keys being 1u Alt keys. It's something I found lacking in the original keyset.

Just my two cents.

+1 on this. With the addition of moving the 6U spacebars to the spacebars kits.

…Removing multiples of keys with custom novelties on them won't significantly lower the price of the set.

Both color ways of novelty arrows would be preferred… they are a part of this set that stand out. One of my biggest issues with GMK is the general lack of options in design. I'm more or less done buying GMK unless these kinds of options are available. Many of the default GMK legends are not well designed, a lot of sloppy choices were made way back—the draw and appeal to me is the nostalgia—but I'd like to see more variety and have options long-term. A few bucks more isn't an issue if that's the case. We're already spending a good chunk of change here… I need reasons to choose this over so many other things out there.

I really like this one! Been looking for the SA set for a while but it looks like this color scheme and novelties look great on GMK also!

My only concern is that the muted green ends up being more saturated than in those nice renders. This has happened before e.g. gmk plum and gmk nautilus. I would be all over this set if it would be 100% certain that end product would look exactly like those renders.

Have you tried looking at these through an IPS display* :O. I thought Plum came out perfectly. There's only a handful of photos that perfectly capture the colors. It's probably the most difficult set to photograph (tbf almost all keysets that have non-muted colors are hard to photograph, haha).

Nautilus concerns me though cos the yellow from the renders is brighter than the yellow in Zambumon's pictures. But eh, it could just be the filters he added to his instagram photos.

*It won't be 100% faithful to whatever was rendered but it'll be close enough.
**I didn't buy either of the GMK sets you mentioned and I am very, very sad

Edit: The SA Camping photos here have greens that are more saturated than the renders. I get what you mean :). It suddenly looks a bit tacky if the greens aren't muted

Just pick them up on mechmarket. Plum is cheap and nautilus should be plenty available in a few weeks.

They literally always end up more saturated. It's a symptom of computer monitors. GMK renders are worse than others, but you shouldn't count on them being exact to the renders.

At least in my experience.

I would really like both colors of arrows even if I have to buy the other arrows as a kit lol. But I do think green makes more sense for general use, it fits more readily with 65/75%. I personally do like the maroon though.

The real cost of the arrows is from the molds anyway, it seems like a waste to spend the money for the molds and then only use them once.

I also wouldn't mind 1.5 novelties, could care less about meta keys though.

I’d rather have a watster over a duplicate in a different color. But I’d rather have R2/3 novelties over a watster. But that’s just me.

Hi guys,

I hope you have a great thanksgiving and got some awesome stuff with the black friday sales.

I've made a Google form to collect votes for the keys that I'm considering to remove so that we can bring down the pricing of GMK Camping a little bit.

Please vote, I will be really appreciated!

My take:

- remove R4 pipe (ISO)
- remove either green or maroon novelty arrows (poll people for this)
- change cardinal direction (text) or arrow icon only (it's too cluttered to have both, from my experience with SA Camping)
- keep both regular and stepped R3 Control
- move 6u spacebars to spacebar kit
- reduce number of R1 1u novelties
- add R4 1u End key

My personal opinions on what should be done to the kit:
 - Drop homing scoops and keep the bars
 - ditch the alpha colored F5-F8
 - drop R3 control keys since they don't functionally contribute to the kit, only aesthetically
 - change the R3 iso \| key to have the ~# as main legends since that seems to be what most iso layouts have there
 - keep the R4 \| key since that's crucial for physical iso support, otherwise iso users are missing a key there
 - move 6u spacebars to the spacebar kit
 - maybe add a R4 End, but I don't see that as crucial since there's plenty of R4 1u keys to go there
 - consider slimming down the unique novelty designs, not the campfire though since I dig that

Pleeeeeeeeease keep the green novelty arrows!
The maroon arrows really doesn't look good on 65/75% keyboards.
Or no novelty arrows at all, so that it can be cheaper.
But as you've said, these novelty arrows are part of what make Camping “Camping”.
As much as you don't want to do it, I still think a separate novelty set would be the best option.
And if possible, please consider changing at least 2 novelty keys from R1 to R2 and R3.
Thanks for making GMK Camping happen!

Yes, please get the scooped keys. I have never seen a GMK set without both options and it will only be 1-2 dollar difference.

The novelties in this set is so nice and then a watser is added. Wouldn't it make more sense to add one of excisting novelties in maroon color instead?

With the added scooped i think its excellent.
