Just asked him the same thing, I guess it's a comparison question all noobs ask. He said he preferred the reds, but he also prefers linear over tactile.
I think in general more people prefer reds over browns, but I could be wrong. It's hard to find a Poker with reds these days, so I'm just going to mod mine.

Well, imho, which is really just an opinion, reds on a pcb mounted board don't feel that good. I had a poker with reds, but did not enjoy it all. Now I'm getting a poker with blue :D

I honestly felt that tactile feedback (I own a das keyboard brown, and briefly a cm storm blue) would be the best bet for me, but after reading up on reds, I'm not completely sure. Unfortunately, there really aren't many places to test red switch types, and my google fu has only gotten me so far. Have you tested out reds for yourself? I'm starting to think I might appreciate a very light linear key as opposed to having a tactile bump.

I prefer browns myself. Has a tad bit of resistance. Reds are cool too though I have one board with them. Don't use it much but its waiting for keys.

My apologies for slightly deviating from the post, but between the red and the brown, which do you prefer?

Sorry I missed your post.. between the two I prefer reds over browns.  Like ripster said, reds feel light and refreshing. lol

Do you tend to bottom out with the browns? It just feels like I have a tendency of bottoming out on my browns, which effectively negates the purpose of the tactile bump. I'be been trying not to bottom out but it just seems as if I'm typing slower and less accurately.

Do you tend to bottom out your keys? Like I said in a previous post, I'm just not sure whether or not the tactile feedback is necessary when I often bottom out while typing.

I always bottom out. But imo its easier to bottom out on reds than any other switch. Ergo clears is where its at though.

If you bottom out on a browns then reds might drive you crazy since it's even lighter.  When you learn to touch type then you'll like the reds more.

So I take it even with the reds you hardly ever bottom out?

I never understood why people obsess so much over bottoming out on a mechanical board.

I always thought the point of using mechanical over rubber dome was to lessen the stress you put on your fingers when typing, which is what the switches are for.
Regardless if you bottom out or not, you will still not use as much force to actuate a switch as you would a rubber dome.

How are PCB Mounted Browns? I love my Filco browns. :l

Seriously considering this, although i'm in Australia, so shipping might be poop. But it might work out better than getting the Reds from Mechkeyboards.com

**edit Is this still US only?

For me regardless of switch plate mounted is going to be better. They just feel more crisp to me. That said I love the poker. Its still a fine keyboard. And the fact that it is pcb mounted allows for easy modding.

Just how much of a difference is there? Is it just key wobble that changes the feel?

Damn. It's probably the same reason I prefer withOUT O-ring mods.. removed that crisp snappiness I love.

So maybe I should just order the ABS one with reds from Mechkeyboards. As I'm sure I could probably find a home for it, if I decide I don't like it.

what i find with the poker vs a filco is that when you bottom out the keys on a poker there's a bit of a mushy feel. on the filco it seems like the key runs into a brick wall; on the poker there's some give at the bottom.

Please note that all APAC region orders are as reserved.

If there are no more interested parties when it reaches the MOQ.

APAC will be taken into consideration.

Therefore shipping to US per keyboard might cost slightly more ( very slighly LOL)

Bumping to close as well.

Think about it, it IS a PCB board, so you can mod it to something else later if you don't like the black switches.

Hi Norris,
Instead of asking why more brown etc. There are limitations in every MO.

If you are looking forward for more browns, i will appreciate if you order another 480 pcs of brown poker to have more brown switch keyboards (in order to have more brown switches) for Group Buy.

I have updated the reservation list as requested by Dante.
