For 50 sets of keys it will possibly be $200 dollars, but split among 50 orders is $4.

Then ~$5 domestic US shipping via USPS priority. ~$12 for international.

Quite rational, but 56 bucks for something that has even less thickness than filco blank keycaps.. now that gave me some doubt. I'll wait for the technical specification then.

Absolutely in for a set; and those retro colors are awesome. Sold as is.

HOLYCRAP! I just discovered that I live 30 minutes from signature plastics. Sadly, I am also in CANADIA, so I would make a crappy drop-shipping volunteer.

That said, I could be tempted to spend a day sorting keys and drinking beer at my fave pub -> http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/19933/

I don't mind getting some extra international keys; I'm sure I'll find a use for them? Maybe?

As for the large, centered legends, I thought about it for a while yesterday, and... didn't come to any conclusion. It's a tossup for me; I'd like to see what the price difference is.

I haven't heard back from Signature about a price difference for font sizing/positioning. I have a feeling that there won't be one. In that case it's what ever the membership can agree on.

It would seem that the majority like the dolch color scheme. Gray w/ Dark Gray Modifiers.

Are there any huge objections to this?

I noticed that the set that started this doesn't have front printing on the keys (e.g. Print Screen/SysRq, Pause/Break, arrows on the orange WASD keys). Is that a limitation of the double-shot process, or just more expensive?

(I agree with sixty on the colors if nobody likes my indigo idea)

YES !!
If there will be no inverted L and German-style SHIFT it will look weird
on non-US ANSI layouts and even weirder for those of us who have special national characters that we will need to keep .

Black keys with white legends is the way to go IMO, it will look neat on
any colour keyboard ..

I still need to inquire about those international keys.

So if we can't get them, an alternative might be to have black character keys and differently colored modifier keys. However while the colors would look more uniform, the legends would still be an issue.

Yes, I am hoping that we can use those customs keys for something fun like a geekhack key of colored G & H keys.

While I would love to accommodate everyone, it's just not possible. That's why we can talk about it here and I can ask signature for the final say.

OK, when I saw this thread I had to sign up for this.  I want to know what is so good about having double shot keys?  It's all your guys fault for making me buy my cherry blue Filco keyboard! :D  I'm going to get a cherry brown Filco for my house now.  Wouldn't mind having a set of blue keys with white letters.  Can that be done?  I'll get two sets of those!

It was mentioned earlier that the estimated Intl freight charges for 1 set of keycaps is about US$12.

And you can't get to decide if the pricing for two sets will come up to $40.39 ea bro, there's trouble filling up 25 slots as it is :(

I also just registered to grab a set of these.  FWIW I love the font/size/positioning.  And yeah, the color scheme pictured is perfect.  Maybe a dumb question, but will this come with a keycap puller?

1 set please!

And I know it wasn't originally a geekhack order, but has anyone else noticed that it's almost identical to the color scheme of this forum?

Any chance of additional shift/ctrl/alt keys to fit a G80-11900/11800 layout (and perhaps others), similar to what was done with the KBDMania key set sixty posted?

I know this might be pushing it a little, but perhaps more people would be interested?

There exist Cherry boards that have centered and offset switch placements.
This picture isn't a Filco, it's a Das apparently, but it's close.

A Filco is about the same except the spacebar wire is longer (probably as long as it would be, clipped to the other set of holes for clips).

The biggest issue at the moment is deciding whether or not to get:

International Keys

And keys that fit keyboards other than a filco.

I have yet to hear back from signature so I don't have any information on the feasibility yet, but I will let you guys know as soon as I do.

I like the concept, but not having a Filco, I'm worried about compatibility-- would I end up with a G80-3000 with a few off keys mocking me (like I have now, having swapped doubleshots from an 8100 series POS board?

If we're looking at retro look, can we do cup keys?  I seem to recall signature had a line of 'em.

Thoughts on OS-independent meta keys:  A diamond (like a Sun board, I and II (for menu and right-click), or how about a circle with an X over it-- it subliminally echoes the Windows logo, but isn't. ⦻

I love the old-school retro font (learned how to type on a Selectric) and the gray color(s).  Put me down for two sets.

They'll be going on 87-key Filcos, so if this actually happens anybody is welcome to the "extras" for the numpad.

So I did some thinking about custom key ideas.

Alt Orange G & H
Orange GeekHack Key
Alt Orange WASD
Alt Conrol/Capslock
Alt OS Key(meta)

These don't include international or keys to fit other keyboards. I'm just brainstorming.

104 US ANSI layout interested buyers > interested buyers vote for international keys/ extra fun keys like "geekhack" (# might increase if majority wants) > interested buyers vote for keycaps for non-filco

This might help in deciding which keys the majority wants. We should prioritize the vote of current interested buyers (ppl ready to buy 104 US ANSI keys) and put it in stats to prevent things like this from happening.
(non-interested buyers wanting special orders and in the end they won't buy the keycaps, old interested buyers are forced to buy unwanted keycaps that won't fit into their keyboards)

I'd probably get one set if it was G80-3000 compatible (cover all the keys), and personally, I'd prefer all function keys one colour.

Aside: the set shown, did they do ] over 9, or is it just a bad photo?

I think we should also have a the stepped offcenter capslock key that fits the Cherry G80 boards, this way we can instantly use the set on both boards without any adjustment (assuming the spacebar fits both, which I think it does).

G80-3000 are compatible to Filcos including the front row. Keys not compatible are the spacebar and capslock. The spacebar could be done while still keeping it Filco compatible.

I'd actually like to see three flavours of  the  capslock key.
Filco non-stepped
Cherry style stepped
Cherry style, filco mount compatible.

I suspect some people would prefer the stepped key; I certainly do.  It's one of the two big peeves I had with my Solidtek 6600 (the other: small backspace)

Is there actually anyone who wants Windows logo keys? Cause if everyone can agree on some OS-agnostic icon for those keys, they won't need to be "alternate" keys, we just wouldn't need Windows ones at all. What about the context menu key?

I'd rather have alternate G and H keys not be orange, as that would stand out too much from other keys being that color. I'd rather they be the darker shade in the pending two-tone scheme, with white text, or, the same shade as other alpha keys but with either orange or blue text (don't forget geekhack has an alternate stylesheet!)

Saw this on Reddit yesterday.

The Original.  Ernest P. Worrel.
Show Image

I loved Ernest growing up.  The Saturday morning show he had for a year or two was too funny.  I'm still pretty sad that he passed away.  The day after he died, I had an Ernest Marathon at the video store I jockeyed, and I still found myself laughing at his bits, no matter how dumb they were.  He was just always soooo into it, I can't explain it.  He never phoned in the Worrel.

Put me down for two sets.

Regarding the debate on the Windows key, what about making it the GeekHack logo key? Though GH doesn't have a mascot like KBTalking or whatever.... How about a key with a picture of a blank keycap on it, like in the GH banner above? That would be pretty meta ;)
