Do we need to pay extra to get the soldering PCB/plate combo or can we just choose that instead of hotswap at the same base price?
Brooooooo wow! Why do you even post IC’s, everything you make looks like it had been bestowed upon us by the gods.
In summary... I’m interested.
Nice! Would you consider adding underglow LEDs to the PCB for the PC version?
It's been nice following along the developments of this, and great to see the IC materialize - it looks great, and I'm definitely in for it. Do we have an idea of when it may go to GB by any chance?
Been waiting for this ;D Will there be color options for the weight? I see black and grey with the protos.
Looks interesting. What will the pricing be?
Nice wallpapers.
Btw, why don't you include a brass plate option like the Polaris? Cut down on number of sku?
Awesome. I am looking into a 65% build for in the future, so this looks like an option.Looks interesting. What will the pricing be?
TBA, but not unnecessarily highNice wallpapers.

Too many QC failed brass parts with Polaris

Really like the looks of this. If you're not completely locked into the hotswap pcb being the default, I would personally prefer the soldering to be the default or better yet, just be given a choice between the two. Prefer not to pay for a hotswap pcb I don't need.
vega vega vega
vega vega vega
vega vega vega
I need that split spacebar.
I missed the Polaris but have been really looking forward to the Andromeda and now the Vega! Love the star themed names, what's next - Antares/Rigel? :)
Amazing board. You a fan of AMD? Naming 2 boards after their GPU architecture, is the next board going to be named Navi? Good luck. I really hope I can get in on this. It literally has every feature I am looking for.

+1. Would really prefer a choice of hs package and a solder package rather than having solder as an add on. i can see myself getting both but i can also see myself saving $70-100 if given the choice.
hopefully this isn't another loooong IC like the tkl, seeing you already have a few rounds of proto.
do appreciate the consistent layout of your ICs.
Apologize for harping on this but do you have an total cost estimate (including shipping?) I understand this will be more than polaris simply because more material. But an estimate would be great.
lol no this board is hardly a tough sell
I am totally in on this, any chance that we will see different colours? I would really like some kind of burgundy.
Still wondering which blue is it gonna be like..can we have more info regarding this blue?
I think the specifications of this keyboard are impeccable.
The only concern is I maybe have to take long time to choose one color from these options!
I hope additional renders or photos will available in future updates. I'm looking forward the GB will open!
Does anyone know if this is Unlimited Group buy or FCFS? Very interested in this and Andromeda.
Yeah... I fell for e-yellow once.

Any possibility of a polycarb case?
Any possibility of a polycarb case?
None without a redesign; the part the screws attach to is small and poly would rip.
ai03 (avoiding the ping for now), the Vega PCB is again flexy, as Polaris, right? And I don’t see a USB daughterboard.
Sorry if you answered this already, if so, please point me at your answer.
Will Vega also have the same behaviour with the USB port flexing against the case, as here: https://www.reddit.com/r/MechanicalKeyboards/comments/h7gofy/polaris_owners_usb_port_stress/
Admittedly, in normal use that won’t be a problem.
And further, just for my own education, I’ve been told the USB daughterboard is more to assist layout of the PCB than to safeguard against flex of the PCB / movement of the USB port.
What is your motivation? I guess you’d be the authority on this, since most other designers use your daughterboard!

It's to keep the cost as low as possible. He had mentioned it in his discord.
Have you considered reversing the split spacebar to 2.75u on the left? I don't understand why so many recent boards woth splits leave that out.
How does hot-swap work with a gasket mount system??
Interested regardless, but I'd prefer something closer to the TADA68 layout, with 2-3 keys next to the arrows; the blocker seems like wasted space.Lol

Would you guys mind sharing why this layout is preferable? I'm new to keyboards, but coming from a laptop keyboard, it's nice to be able to use Ctrl+PgUp/PgDn for scrolling through tabs, and a menu key saves moving your hand to the mouse to right-click. Open to discussing it; there aren't many curated layout comparisons with pros/cons that I could find.

An extra keystroke is less desirable though; does the software/firmware allow you to map keypresses vs holds differently (i.e. press for menu, hold for Ctrl modifier)?

On a more serious note, I chose the 1.5/7U-based layout for four reasons:
- Historical significance of the WKL-based layouts
- Ability to support 3/1/3U split space and 7U on a single hotswap PCB once 3U becomes more common
- Noticeably better reach on the left ctrl position
- A survey taken before IC revealed roughly equal demand for 1.5 and 1.25 based 65% layouts, and plenty of 1.25 based 65% boards already exist
The downside of 7u space is that RAlt/AltGr becomes noticeably more difficult to reach. This is an issue primarily for non-US users that rely heavily on AltGr to input special characters.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but the hotswap layout with the 7u spacebar has no RAlt/AltGr (only RControl which of course could be re-mapped but you get my point). We ISO users will have to rely on the soldering kit, which allow a 6.25u spacebar along with AltGr.
That's why it would be great if we could get to choose between the hotswap and soldering kits instead of hotswap being the default and having to purchase the soldering kit additionally.
Wait, are you saying this hotswap pcb will support 3/1/3u spacebar? Or are you saying this could be a future possibility?Very likely in the future.
Looks really clean. I would like to see non-hotswap standard for flexibility on layouts.Roughly half of the PCB issues I had to deal with on Polaris were related to soldering errors, and the other half firmware flashing. Vega attempts to resolve these issues for the sake of my sanity when I get flooded by DMs and pings and emails.
The downside of 7u space is that RAlt/AltGr becomes noticeably more difficult to reach. This is an issue primarily for non-US users that rely heavily on AltGr to input special characters.
The key to the right of 7u space would be AltGr. Yes, it would be better to not be forced to purchase the hotswap PCB.
best labor conditions
Just hoping it's an unlimited group buy limited by time only so I can have a decent chance to get one.

Maybe in the future, but definitely not now.
I just spent months optimizing Vega for the least logistics headache and best labor conditions for everyone involved in making the board whether factory worker or vendor, so I will not undo such efforts until I or the vendor is financially stable enough to hire more workers and offload sorting work to be less burden on each person.

God, please make it happen! this board looks quite gorgeous.. now with 3u hotswap spacebar and how easy it is to reach that ctrl key, you have just sold it for both me and my son!

Very nice finishing :) Although its boring, I do like that grey!
Haha isnt that what we all say. Dont worry, gray/black is what most people start with.Very nice finishing :) Although its boring, I do like that grey!
Grey is the most versatile! For someone who doesn't plan on owning a dozen keyboards it is perfect.
Looks great, wish their were some unique colors, seems to always be the same 3-5 anodized colors. These same 3-5 colors sell amazingly well whereas rare colors just end up dead stock and burn rent
Most likely will be buying this because of the butchered Think v2.0 attempt. Would be nice if we could have some cool looking badge option on this. Is that even a possibility at this point? If I liked badges on 65, this would have had one
Im all in for soldering kit! It does feel kinda bad that i need to get 2 PCBs since the hotswap one will be kinda useless for me sicne im an ISO user. Anyway looks cool. Really wish it was soldering default thoAlready explained my reasoning on previous page

for the soldered version, does the plate supports all layouts? The soldering kit will include a plate with universal layout.
Will there be half-plate options available? No, at least for this round. Possibly in the future, but probably faster to just modify the plate files once released and order one from a factory of choice.
Is the hotswap PCB attached to the plate by mounting hardware like in the kbd67mkII? Or it just held by the sockets?

so another 10 pages can be devoted to pitchforking ai03 on why that some cool looking badge doesnt match the name vega. nah just keep it simple and classic.
designer designs. consumer consumes.
one person not buying 1 board in a gb isnt going to kill a gb.

Oh alright! But the PCB has flex cuts right?
Hi,
When we will be able to buy the Vega? Do the GB is already completed?
Thanks in advance
Can you please let us know if this is intended to be unlimited, FCFS, or a raffle before the Think 6.5v2 goes live? I imagine there are a lot of us that are looking at both boards but would prefer the Vega. But without knowing if it's obtainable will push us towards the Think instead. I understand this isn't your problem. You will have no problem selling these boards whether the Think or any or board exist. Just let us know your intentions even if you can't guarantee it so that we can feel better about our purchase.
This board looks incredible. Hits all of the points I am looking for. Hopefully I will have one sitting on my desk one day.

Mr. Aio3 Would you consider fr4 since it is hotswap? There is no correlation between fr4 and hotswap; also my name is not aio3
A request of the bottom row split-spacebar for the solderable PCB:I only added the single 225/275 split option as a temporary split measure; future round PCBs will likely drop 6.25U-based layouts entirely in favor of 3/1/3 split for a fully 7U-based board once 3U bars become further common.
Please make 2.75u + 1.25u + 2.25u also possible for left thumb spacebar pressers (currently only 2.25u + 1.25u + 2.75u)
Can you please let us know if this is intended to be unlimited, FCFS, or a raffle before the Think 6.5v2 goes live?I am not involved in the development, production, or sales of the Think6.5, nor do I have the intent to compete against it.
Clay333 literally said what I was about to say.
I am just wondering if this will be a raffle or unlimited because if it's a raffle, I am just going to buy the Think 6.5 but I think it goes without saying people would rather buy this board than think 6.5.
Someone gave a joke answer but this is a serious consideration for many people.
Sorry if it’s been asked already but is a polycarb unit likely for future rounds? Regardless, I’ll be jumping on this haha
Oof, good to know!Sorry if it’s been asked already but is a polycarb unit likely for future rounds? Regardless, I’ll be jumping on this haha
It would require a redesign of the board; the existing design wouldn't be structurally sound in PC.

From a learning standpoint, what would likely cause the issues for pc?Internal screw points too thin to withstand gasket compression force if done in poly
Since future rounds are, well, in the future, it would be nice to have a 2.75–1.25–2.25 option for this round, if circumstances allow. No

please stop answering "I'm interested, where I send my money", my inbox is spammed with those sort of notification and every time I think there is valuable updates :)) :pI mean, it's an interest check. For faster and more valuable updates, it'd probably be more worthwhile to subscribe to the Discord.
Will it be possible to add aftermarket alps support to this via plate files? Anything in the design preclude this due to placement of screws, etc? If not, anything planned up your sleeve in the future alps related? Thanks

Since I've designed it very specific to MX, I cannot guarantee that Alps will work due to internals conflicts.
I do have a second generation version of Lunar in the works for an Alps-specific design.
Will it come with PC case option?
Nice! Would you consider adding underglow LEDs to the PCB for the PC version?
No PC version this time around; the thin supports for the internal screws would shatter.
The case is aluminum right?Yeah It is
aio3 do you consider adding purple on color option for vega?
Is the Blue the same Blue as the Polaris?
Can someone explain the "foundation series" vs "reference series" vs "signature series" naming scheme to me?

It really depends what price will be. This looks quite nice. However since price is TBA I really hope this will be at the similar price as polaris, which would be really tempting, if more like a think 6.5 (which I skipped), I will better wait for keycult.
Words from the Chinese GB chat ran by Kevinplus is that it'll be between $300 - $360, and likely to be on the higher side. Still well worth it imo. Polaris was just an outrageously good deal that shouldn't be expected to be the norm.

Still quite a nice, competitive price! Nothing outrageous even given the current conditions.

hold up we haven't added shipping yet
Sorry if this has been asked before. Is the combination of colours of case and weight fixed or will we be free to mix & match as we like?It will likely be fixed to minimize ordering/boxing hassle.
Love the clean design!

It's basically a given since (I believe) these will be shipped from China. :( Already have a fudge factor for shipping in mind so it's not completely devastating seeing shipping be 10-15% of the cost on top of the Vega itself.
What an expensive hobby this can be...
Oh I noticed alright... crazy shipping prices and even slower delivery.

Is this a good time to remind people that the cost of epacket shipping from China to the US went up substantially last month, and you just haven't noticed yet because covid? All those $5 shipping options we used to get are gonna be more expensive when they come back, and rise again ~16% every July through 2025.
i would love to get into this group buy :) how do i sign up?
This is pretty accurate: https://ai03.com/Status =>"PCBs undergoing preparation" on 2020-08-09.
I definitely want this board..... Anyone need a kidney? I'm selling at least one.
Very excited for this. The purple Polaris is so stunning, I'm hoping this colour is an option for Vega.

I don't understand why every keyboard needs to have some type of logo jammed into the design. Half of them look terrible because Product Design skills != Graphic Design skills. Why run the risk of destroying a design that is praised for being clean and minimalistic?
IMO YMMV
I really like how this board refines features from the polaris. The seamless design is beautiful but i find that the board may look a bit bland, especially from the top down view (since it just looks like a typical 67 key 65% keyboard, like a kbd67mkii). Personally i really like the ai03 logo, maybe adding it into the top right might add some characterNo thanks. It's the opposite: instead of making them more "premium", logos cheapen products. Minimalism is what makes this board attractive. I absolutely refuse to buy a keyboard with a logo. Quality design should speak and advertise for itself.

absolutely 100% this.
blocker logos are ugly af and I still don't understand how people could possible like a dumb logo more than an additional key on the top right corner.
Is the hotswap spacebar 7u?yes
As you may have seen on social media, PCB production samples have arrived and are undergoing testing.better take your time and make something nice instead of rushing it :)
Things are moving along, albeit slowly.
Which blue is made to the final color option i.e., Blue? The rendering have two blues.
Will this be an unlimited group buy??
I'm a Mech noob, been rocking a Corsair K70 (pre-rgb, Cherry Brown) for years now, which I fully understand doesn't count. About 3 weeks ago I thought I'd see what all the fuss was all about , down the rabbit hole I fell.
Lost track of the Rabbit a while back, but damn these biscuits are great and do like to the look of Vega. Personally I love the minimalism and agree with the above that it benefits from being brandless, a rare treat in 2020. So I guess I've made my choice, I'm in.
Likely start with Glorious Pandas as I'm team tactile for now. Not sure about caps yet, more digging is required. Suggestions as ever, are welcome...
Is it just me or has a polycarb plate option been added? I thought there was something about polycarb plates not holding out.

Could the hotswap version have an option for standard ansi layout? 'm new to keyboards so the hotswap is attractive, but the non standard bottom row is hmm. But man, what a gorgeous board.I'm not ai03, but the answer is most likely no. I think everything's pretty much finalized at this point.

Is there another plate design to accommodate split backspace ?if you look at the layout images you can see that the soldered pcb supports split backspace...

Says who?
pretty much everyone knows it at this point that it's not going to be unlimited after the disaster that the Polaris GB was.
Unlimited creates way too many problems and it's easier to just run multiple limited rounds of a board because that way you can plan ahead how many units you will have to make.

Still fresh myself, wonder if this scene is attracting bot interest like the GPUs do?They've been there in force for some time already, long before GPUs, more like collector sneakers.

So is it a limited in stock purchase and pre-order? Or limited in stock purchase with a chance of unlimited pre-order?
Either way, really excited for this to go live. :thumb:
Looks like it will be like the previous kbd 8x mk2 and kbd 67 mk2.which will have spot sale of limited stock as well as a group buy that will deliver 2-3 months laterWhile that may be true, don't go around saying stuff that you're not 100% sure of

I'm not being a hardass, your word choice makes it sound like you're fairly certain that what you're saying is true. If you were trying to say that you're purely guessing what the sales format will be, then you should probably rephrase yourself.

Since when does looks like = definitely? Judging by other group buy in the past that created by ai03 i said that it looks like it will be like that.

The only unlimited groupbuy that ai03 ran so far was the Polaris and that created quite a bit of problems during the production and shipping.
The KBD series boards aren't exactly groupbuys and they weren't run by ai03.
They were just a collaboration / commission design work for KBDfans where ai03 had nothing to do with the groupbuy fulfilment.
All other groupbuys that he ran were limited in-stock or pre-orders (Lunar, Andromea, Orbit-X)
Doesn't mean there won't be a chance for an unlimited GB though, is up to ai03 choices. Messed up one time doesn't mean you can't learn to do it better next time.
I don't know about how big ai03 company or the company that he cooperative is? But there are unlimited GB with large quantities in the past like the Canoe from Percent studio or Space65/Think 6.5 from Gray studio that went (mostly) without any hiccups.
Oh well, we'll just have to see

You do know that ai03 is one single person?
He's not a company. Nobody in this hobby is.
It's all just hobbyists that like to make stuff.
Keycult for example is just two people. :blank:
And Percent groupbuys are not unlimited either. They just have a very high limit.
Well I don't know that but there's a chance that can cooperate with a factory or company that can mass manufacture the Vega and make much less of a mess compare to Polaris right? We'll just have to see

The Polaris was handled by KBDfans which is probably the biggest vendor in this hobby rn with around 20 people.
And they still created a total mess out of it with one delay after another.
Like I said there aren't really any big companies in this hobby that are able to handle mass production of these high end keyboards.
Manufacturing the stuff is not a problem because there are tons of companies in china that do that kinda stuff.
The handling of the quality control and the shipping is the problem. And you just can't handle 1000+ units in a realistic timeframe with just two or three people.
And most hobbyist vendors are just that small. Even Novelkeys which is probably the largest vendor for the US rn is just 4 people.
Is this running on ai03.com?
The board looks Amazing! Waiting for it.Only one vendor and it's not going to be an EU one.
Hopefully it will be available in EU.
Folowing all the news about it.

you will just have to pay for international shipping and might have to pay import taxes.
So I am assuming I am to late for this? Kinda new to this whole deal, but if not I am very interested!
You can't avoid import tax. It will just be the proxy paying for it and it will reflect in the price.

You are not late. Keep an eye on this thread for more info.

But it is always cheaper than to pay taxes. They save money somewhere when ordering a lot
Stop talking nonsense. The price of GBs in EU stores is literally USD price converted in EUR+ VAT (21%). Plus adding vendors adds overall cost to the board across all proxies. I would also like an EU store to proxy it, but I have no issues just ordering it from where ever and then just paying the import tax myself.
Only thing more expensive for us would be shipping.

He's not necessarily talking nonsense really, because to be fair it depends on where you're from and what the shipping method is - VAT is 23% where I live and handling fees are through the roof, with other countries having up to like 27%, so for a hobby like keyboards where purchases + shipping can be upward of $600 2 to 6% more along with fees etc can be a decent amount of money. Especially if vendors go with like DHL Express, which basically makes you pay 40-60€ for purchases outside the EU, buying from "local" stores is way cheaper AND easier than importing.
I have paid 100€ in just import fees and VAT for a wrist rest that cost me $80 before, it's not fun, surprises like that do not happen when buying from EU vendors. People have every right to speak up about stuff like that.

Do you think GB is performed during this month?9th of October ai03 said this on Discord.
Sorry for the silence as of late; I oft forget to check GH
Vega was supposed to drop in at mid-October, but due to delays in manufacturing and preparation I'm not 100% sure when it will drop at the moment. Kevin's stated that end of October might be possible if everything goes perfectly, but we all know what happens with ETAs.
All the remaining info will be released in one set (hopefully) once everything is in line.
Can't wait for this to drop!
Can wait to get my hands on this case (first build btw). One question, what plate should I pick if I want the keyboard to be silence as possible? The aluminum or Polycarbonate?
Thanks in advanced
Really hoping to get my hands on this board! Do we have any idea as to many units there will be? I have been looking around but could not find anything, or is it fair to assume it will be open group buy like his previous Polaris

They never said what quantity is available as in-stock, but if you don't get in on the in-stock, the GB will be unlimited.

I don't think, that after the Polaris unlimited GB that this will be unlimited at all. I'd assume a high run number but not unlimited.
I hope this goes on sale between the period Sat 75 ends and Iron 180 begins; allowing me to continue my one ramen noodle a day diet. I sell the flavor packets as my side hustle.

I finally got the term weeb right - when you eat only ramen after buying a lot of boards. That is why there is so much weebs in this community
I can see that vendor is still TBA, but where do they usually sell? Do they have a European vendor?
I hope that i can get one, what a nice job.

How many units will be available in GB?
I guess the site isn’t up yet. But sure looks clean.
Shipping is not specified, could you add some information on that part?Gotta pay for shipping like when buying anything else from the interwebs.
so if the in-stock units are not sold out, the gb will never begin, right?1k for both international and Asia is nothing, will sell out in minutes and that's being generous.
and there are 1000 in-stock units
He left one thing he didn’t said, China has a higher Priority when comes to in-stock unit. So western may not have enough unit to buy.Shipping is not specified, could you add some information on that part?Gotta pay for shipping like when buying anything else from the interwebs.so if the in-stock units are not sold out, the gb will never begin, right?1k for both international and Asia is nothing, will sell out in minutes and that's being generous.

Shipping is not specified, could you add some information on that part?DHL or similar from CN, so I'd assume somewhere around 40USD to the states as long as currency exchange rates don't crash any further.
So I see you purchase the board as hotswap and add-on the soldering kit. Does the soldering kit include extra foam as well?Yes
very much interested in this board on aesthetic alone, but could anyone explain the advantages of this board? With keyboards, the differences are fairly small and diminishing returns kicks in fast.
so if the in-stock units are not sold out, the gb will never begin, right?Yes
So the November 14th date, what time zone is that?Likely local CN time since typeplus is based there.
So if I'm understanding this correctly, the universal plate and solderable PCBs are only available as extras in the preorder, but will be choosable options in the GB? If so, how much do they cost?
Great question. As I'm reading this, the solderable PCB will only be available in GB, but GB is contingent on 'in-stock' selling out. And the thought of paying another shipping fee for PCB/Plate in GB after ordering the board from stock is a bit painful...the solderable pcb will also be available for the in-stock.So if I'm understanding this correctly, the universal plate and solderable PCBs are only available as extras in the preorder, but will be choosable options in the GB? It's the "solder kit" that ai03 mentioned in his post.

that makes sense. I am guessing there won't be a sound test video put out before the launch, so would it be a somewhat close approximation for the vega if I referred to polaris sound tests?very much interested in this board on aesthetic alone, but could anyone explain the advantages of this board? With keyboards, the differences are fairly small and diminishing returns kicks in fast.
This specific board uses gaskets and dampers for typing comfort over extended use and controlled acoustics, but whether or not the typing differences will be worth the price difference will be entirely based on how much one values it.
Looking forward to try to purchase this board. Will there be a limit to the number of in stock boards you can purchase per user/address?I'd hope 1 per person/address for the in-stock sale. Otherwise it's just gonna be flippers snatching up multiple units. Sat75 sold over 1k units today at a higher price point in minutes.

Supposedly Kevinplus sent a unit to both TaehaTypes and Tae, so there is a chance that a build stream or review may appear online prior to sale.
In general, sound is similar sort of character as Polaris, albeit slightly improved.
forgive my didn't go over the 14 pages, this probably had been asked and answered,no info on that yet.

Any price update? I'm kinda sorta looking at Vega vs. Pizza keeb (https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=109266.0). Wondering if I want to dip my toe in the 65% waters.359 USD for in stock. 329 USD for GB. It's been posted in replies, just do a bit of digging.

Is there a time for the in stock sale? I can't find it anywhere.
AvailabilityNote that there are nearly half of the 1000 in stock units already sold in China exclusive in stock sale event last weekend.
In-stock: 1000 units, available on November 14, shipping out within a few weeks.
GB: The GB period will open a few weeks after the in-stock units sell out (currently working out the details), and will ship a few months after in typical GB fashion.
This is what the update says (in the comments)

I think it's because of intense lighting, if you look at the weight, it's supposed to be matte black, but it's showing grey in the photo, that means the blue is lighter than it should be in the photo.Show Image(https://i.redd.it/01r64f9v7my51.png)
Here is the blue from someone in the Discord who has their hands on a real board. I'm sad it is not as Navy as it looked in the render, but I guess it will have to do.

Been watching this board since the beginning was right there ready to go at 12:01 and STILL wasn't able to get one! Sold off all my other boards and am left with my Practice65 as my daily driver until my Melody65 and D65 come in but I was hoping for a new board before Christmas/New Year!
Been in the hobby for a while but this year is my first year trying to participate in group buys that aren't switches or keycaps. I don't see how you all stand it lol I waited like 9 months for Ghost Linear switches and that wore my patience!
Oh yeah I’m well aware. I’m not surprised per se I know how it goes. One thing I have learned early on in the hobby is to get over FOMO. High demand for everything and little stock, but that's just the way it is now. It was super smooth except for Google Pay was really slow to load which isn't any fault of the guys. Get into the GB mate and wait it out for a while, or pay the reseller price.
Onward.
I was too slow :(

Vega Group Buy Details
Again, let's get straight to the point.
Unit Cap
Yes, one exists. Mainly so that QC and packing doesn't go out of control.
The cap quantity is significantly higher than the quantity we had for in-stock. I'll leave it undisclosed for now, similar to exact quantity not being disclosed for Polaris.
Available Products
- Base kit, 329 USD. Your choice of plate material (Aluminum or Polycarbonate), plate style (Single-layout or Universal), and PCB style (Hotswap or Soldering).
- Extra plates, 29 USD. Your choice of plate material and style.
- Extra PCBs, 39 USD. Your choice of PCB style.
Limits
Up to 2 base kits, 2 extra plates, and 2 extra PCBs per household.
Any purchases for only extra parts without a base kit will be voided, since... well, hard to use keyboard parts without the keyboard itself.
Release Date
11/28 12:01PM US Eastern Time (EST) at typeplus.net.
Note: This time is not for the soldering kit for previous in-stock buyers. Read below for that.
Soldering Kits for In-Stock Buyers
If you were not able to secure a soldering kit during the in-stock phase, we will offer soldering kits during the group buy as well.
To be eligible, you must write your order number for the in-stock base kit when prompted (will be on the product page).
In addition, this is strictly for those who were not able to purchase a soldering kit during the in-stock phase; all who were able to purchase one during the in-stock phase will be ineligible for purchasing additional kits.
Note that these will drop on 11/30 at 12:01PM EST rather than on 11/28 to avoid confusion during the main GB.
And I believe that covers just about everything.
If you'd like to enjoy a build stream prior to the buy, don't forget to tune in to the TaehaTypes channel on Thursday at 10AM US Pacific Time (PST).
Didn't think I'd have to add this, but here we go
- Extra plates, parts, etc.: Definitely want to do it, but not realistic rn when a $5 set of gaskets would carry a $50 shipping cost. Likely after covid clears out, but simply impractical before such.
- ETA is undecided as usual. If I had to take a wild guess which is literally only as good as yours, I'd guess mid 2021.
Regarding in-stock buyer shipping/tracking info
All units without a soldering kit have been shipped out by the crew responsible for handling shipment.
However, we only received the tracking number list today after a massive delay, so we'll get to work entering those numbers into Shopify as soon as possible.
Units with soldering kits will be shipped as soon as the outer box to bundle the two products arrive.

What are the main differences between the Universal and the Single Layout plates for Vega? Just looking for some guidance in making a decision between them & if it'd be helpful to pick up one of each.ai03 has plate files for the Vega available on their website. The reply above is correct: The universal plate has more cutouts in several parts of the plate to accommodate a wider variety of layouts, whereas the single layout plate only supports one.
Does TypePlus do region lock? It says it cannot deliver to the Netherlands :(Getting the same message for a US address.
Does anyone here know where does Ai03 based on?ai03 is from japan and kevinplus is chinese.
will the groupbuy purchase allow one to change the shipping address before packing/shipping occurs? I am almost certain I will be moving early 2021 and wanted to make certain I could receive the package
Sorry if this is a dumb question, but if we order an extra plate does it come with extra gaskets?
