Scored 3136.  Got to like 256.  Won't play it again because winning would take a lot of planning and I have better things to do :P

My second attempt.  It's pretty easy to get over 4000 if you keep your large numbers on one side.  Once it gets cramp on one side, think a few moves ahead of how you can combine your larger numbers together.

edit: Ugh, if only I was more patient...

I decided to do a little experiment ...
I pressed only up-left-down-right in that sequence over and over again. The first time I got a score of 3016, the second time I got a score of 2520.

Whenever I try to think to much ahead I always get a score below 1000 ...

I did something similar. I did up left up left up left, until I couldn't any longer, then switched to down right down right down right. I got 2704 several times, though it was not a consistent method.

ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

Don't know everyone's strategy, but I try to get my big numbers on the top row and gather them together, closer to each other. But at some point, I need to "flip it" and then it gets messy since I "lose" at least 1 square...

New best score, sniff so close sniff...

I prefer to keep the large numbers at the bottom. Having low numbers stuck at the bottom is wasted real estate IMO.

I improve my score from around 3000 to twice as much once I had figured out a strategy that I should keep the highest numbers at the top and avoid pressing down. Then let the numbers trickle upwards.

This game is easy to beat once you solve it. Just keep the big numbers in a corner, and go from there.

I've beaten it 5-6 times now with that method.

Same here. I'm eventually forced to move down and it screws everything up, or I simply fill up all the rows.

I'm with TacticalStache, I beat it almost every time now and have gotten to 4096 twice, my best score being about 50,000. The trick I use is to keep stuff in the bottom right corner, snaking from there. I always keep 4 different numbers in the bottom row so that I can move down, left, right without "dislodging" the bottom row, which can create unfixable gaps in the snake. If my bottom row ever compacts into something less than 4 across, my first goal is to fill it again so that I can get the down, left, right movements back.

Yep. Arrow keys & WASD both work. Just remember that arrow keys will push every block to the farthest edge possible.

but at least this game makes sense, QWOP just seamed really hard for no reason. Then again this game like to screw you over by putting tiles in the most inconvenient places

I wish there were a way to play Threes without a smart phone, because it’s a tactically superior game to 2048.  Alas, I do not.  2048 is fun enough, but it does have a pretty basic strategy—you can do pretty well without even thinking.

This is my second win after about a month. I won once last week while we were on vacation, and I had played quite a few times.

I can't get off it.

These days, I have improved to the point where I can win about 1:15 tries on average. I won twice within 3 hours last Saturday!

The Dr Who versions are more fun with arrow keys, my phone screen has never liked the capacitance of my fingers.

Do you play Solitaire turning over every card?

It's the original version with no undo function.

I got that highscore three months ago btw and I haven't played the game much since then.

In the end.. the keyboard's most grand form of existence is as an ethereal bridge between man and machine..    Each depression of the keys, evanescent.. Our transitory thoughts crashing into the web, carving canyons through the internet wasteland such that life may once again flourish..

It's the original version with no undo function.

I totally apologize, I was an ass. I saw "undo" on the other one and did not compare.

You have my admiration for your skill. My daughter achieved 8192 as well.

Out of curiosity, how long did this single game take?

"The Trump campaign announced in a letter that Republican candidates and committees are now expected to pay “a minimum of 5% of all fundraising solicitations to Trump National Committee JFC” for using his “name, image, and likeness in fundraising solicitations.”
“Any split that is higher than 5%,” the letter states, “will be seen favorably by the RNC and President Trump's campaign and is routinely reported to the highest levels of leadership within both organizations.”"

I got it on my school laptop three months ago. I used to play in between (and sometimes during) classes. I think the game was about two hours of playtime total but I'm not sure. Usually I'd spam left-down in the beginning to save time.

It is for your work! That game is addictive...

But after a week and not being able to make the black tiles (high numbers) I decided to call it quits ;)

There is a game called Threes on both iOS and Android. It is pretty much this game, with some slight differences, and looks a bit prettier.
