[IC] LZ-GH Keyboard
« Reply #150 on: Wed, 16 January 2013, 12:47:28 »
Man you know what would be super cool, but won't happen due to extra cost.

LZ-GH-Username engraved on the board.

This would get expensive quick though

I guess you can send it out to get CNC'd with your name then reanodize...

Can't wait to see a preview of it. I hope it's a bit innovative and not just a Kmac with Geekhack engraved in it.

That was just the plate...

I know I didn't mean the plate, I think the idea with Geekhack in the plate is pretty nice. But I do also hope that there are some other new things.

Is it possible to change an IC? Being the indecisive person I am, I've never used a half plate and this is a good time as any.

Don't think the half plate will make it, you can always mod the full plate to be a half plate :)

About how much are we talking when you say shipping international is going to be "expensive" ?
Would there be a possibility to proxy the board?

Don't proxy's just mean having a way to ship things to you? International shipping still applies regardless unless an actual person is flying with the goods lol

I think from USA $40-50 USPS Priority
Like an Omnikey 102
From Korea with EMS registered something like $60-70

I put toxic green, but black if they powder coat or black anodize. But I think orange anodized wouldn't look bad either if they can get the right shade.

The weight increase is one thing. The LZ-S is 3.3ish lb and LZ-GH is 5lbs

other then that, I don't know.

I think bar feet means that the component that raises the keyboard will be a steel bar design. As you can see in the second picture of this page (taken from DangWang's blog site, hope you don't mind) http://dangwang.wordpress.com/2012/11/16/420-reviews-lz-mx-mini-by-lifezone/

1.5x the size of a regular alpha keys. This means the modifier keys on the bottom row will be wider than the ones on the average Filco (which are known as 1.25 mods). The 1.5 mod bottom row set up will require a 7x space bar.

@boost heavier boards huh? I guessing the weight is coming From the brass? ;)

I realize what they are, I should have been more specific.

Is that correct and if so why?
Who makes key caps for a setup like this? I just came out of a situation where the keyboard used oddball keys, making replacement a hassle.

1.5x mods and 7x spacebar are a throwback to vintage Cherry winkeyless keyboards. You can still use those keysets on modern boards, if they are Korean. :)

Edit: Yes, the "tsangan kit" or 13-key add-on is for compatibility with these keyboards.

Vintage sets are a big hit among hobbyists, specifically genuine Cherry sets. Many people also find no use for their menu key and Windows key and prefer 84 and or 86 layout more
