Ripster do you know if they'd be molded like the ones in the first picture? They look like they have a strange inset mountain type thing.  While I love the clear key look, that mold is strange :S.

They look like relegendable keys with the caps off.

Should I ask for a price?

Sure, please ask for a price although I kinda like the idea of just normal caps (the NinjaOtaku) instead of these relegendables.  I would think they would be cheaper too that way.

I did not say we should get the relegendable keys. These would not make sense anyway.

Just sent off a request to SP. Until then, I assume they cost the same as other blank keys. But they might be more expansive because the material might be more expansive.

Great, now I raise the price and send the invoices:

quick response from SP:

CLEARBLANK is @ $32 if 15 are produced
CLEARBLANKMOD is @ $34 if 15 are produced.

did not ask for the J-shape return.

If these prices are too high, maybe we take only single sized keys for the top rows.

$32 is a bit spendy.

How about a 12 key FCN row set?   Or a 3 key Scroll/Num/Caps lock set?

I expect a lot of people to use them for lighted numlock and other keys.  Especially with the upcoming Leopolds.

From left to right: SP double shot, Cherry double shot, SP blank.

They are thick enough. You can't feel or see their thickness when they are on the switches. If you want really thick clears, you should ask ClickClack!

can't be easier ...

Kit......................Qty (Category) (price/min. req. Qty.)
CLEARBLANKALP..............2 (Blank Alpha keys) ($13/15 #37)
CLEARBLANKFUN..............3 (Blank Function keys) ($7/15 #16)

CLEARBLANK and CLEARBLANKMOD look good and the votes for CLEARBLANKALP and CLEARBLANKFUN are helpful to reach the currently given prices!

Just the J-shape Return needs more support!!!

Now they might be thinner than classic Cherry keycaps but they really don't flex that easily.

Oh, and they use the same material as LEGO bricks.

I'm confused as sh!t. All I know for a fact is what the CLEARBLANKMOD includes.

CLEARBLANKALP contains 37 alphabet keys? |\ key isn't single so that's excluded? Then there are four keys that are extra, are those meant for arrow keys?

CLEARBLANKFUN are the top F1~F12 + esc, print, scroll lock, pause?

CLEARBLANK is just 90 singular size key caps? why 90? Aren't there 86 singluar key caps in a full keyboard layout?

Where does the enter, |\, capslock, tab, backspace fit into?

Ok, CLEARBLANK covers the non-single size keys. There's 18 of them, this kit offers 19. Is one key just extra?

37 keys to replace:
QWERTYUIOP{}ASDFGHJKL:"ZXCVBNM<>? plus the 2 keys which are necessary for ISO-layout, plus 2 keys for F and J positions with nubs.

Yep! Again, 2x keys with nubs and 2x keys for ISO-layout.

These fit into the CLEARBLANKMOD kit.

I should be well-known by now, to choose weired names for kits, which not always tell what they contain;-)

There is a stepped and an un-stepped Caps Lock key.

ps: Ripster, what about you? You brought the clears up, but did not yet vote for them. You vote might lower the price a bit!

Even though your drawing shows it, I just want to make it explicit, due to the confusion over some of the other kits.

Does CLEARBLANKMOD include a clear spacebar?

The latest invoice I got contained CAPSLED's which I removed. So I guess I can expect another updated invoice and finally then I'd be able to make payment?

Anyone know if these clear keys will be smooth on the typing surface or will they be textured (like the pic of the 2-piece relegendable key Ripster posted earlier)?  I don't like typing on completely smooth keys.

I'm kind of on the fence about ordering a full set (clearblank+clearblankmod) because it'll bump me past the 250 pieces per box limit so it will double my shipping costs.  Anyone know/guess what the price break/drop will be on the CLEARMOD if it reaches 15 sets?  It's up to 13 sets now so if the price drop will cover most of my 2nd shipping cost I'll probably order a full set.

Fingers crossed that they are rough textured on top.  I was typing on a smooth surfaced chiclet-style keyboard on a new Acer laptop recently.... ewww... no grip whatsoever.  Order added, so now we're up to 14 sets of CLEARBLANKMOD, just 1 more set to go for the 15 unit price break.

I got a statistics e-mail update (from my-mbox.net) this morning at 09:02 (GMT -8), so I'm basing it on those numbers from about 6 hours ago, assuming nobody backed out and reduced their quantities.

It could be crystal clear on the sides and only textured on top, which is what I'm hoping for.  Otherwise, I'll be putting them up on the classifieds.  Too bad they don't have a picture of them to take out all the guess work.

No, but:

I'm off for holly days until Sunday 20th March 2011!

The vote-system will work without me. Just send your order lists to me, 7bit_vote.

You will get some statistics from time to time.

Don't ask 7bit or me any questions during that time. We will not answer!

There will be no update of payment status. Anybody should keep track of that themselves! It is sufficient to pay when I'm back again.

For questions, please read the first post in the main thread.

Have a lot of fun ...

Damn. I was just about to ask 'what's happening with SPACENEWCLEAR?'

It shows that I've voted for it, but it's not in the statistics or my invoice. I doubt I want a clear set without it, so I very much hope it gets added in! (even if it works out relatively expensive for just the 4 that I voted for).

I hope I understand how to vote correctly and don't create any dangling chads.

I'm really glad someone did this and that I didn't yet.  It was on my list of projects from last year but never got time to do it.  Everyone should order these to drive the price down.  Seeing mechanical switches and blue/brown/red/black stems through the keys should be pretty cool.

Wait... so if you want to outfit a full size ANSI Filco for example, would CLEARBLANKMOD do it all for $38 or do you have to get all 4 of these to fill that keyboard?  ($80 for the set?)

CLEARBLANKALP..............3 (Blank Alpha keys) ($12/15 #37)
CLEARBLANKFUN..............6 (Blank Function keys) ($6/15 #16)
CLEARBLANK................14 (Blank keys) ($24/15 #90)
CLEARBLANKMOD.............11 (Blank modifiers including space) ($38/10 #19)

Clear blanks are sold out, except the space bars!

The key puller costs $5.

Could I be on the reservation list?

Might be thinking of picking these up (since I missed last round) to be used as a 'switch-try' keyboard so that people can actually see the colour of the switch being typed on.. of course this is only do-able once I complete my keyboard hoarding collection :D

Don't have serious clue... Hmm Blank Clear keys, then R4: row 4? 100 must be some 7bit's own magic, A for single and B for 10?

So 1 or 10 row 4 clear blank keys?

I caught the tail end of the group buy.  I got almost enough clear blanks to field the a-z cluster, but missing 3 keys, 2 row 2 and 1 row 3.  Does anyone have extra clear blank keys that you could sell to me?  I need the following:

CLEARBLANKR2U100 2
CLEARBLANKR3U100 1

Thanks.
