Thanks for sharing it man!I'll change the wording in the OP though, thanks for bringing that to my attention.
Would you mind explaining a little more what makes it "ultra high end" (apart from price)?
Also, the pics make it look like it has really sharp edges, is that the plan?
Have you used Stripe before to collect GB funds through whatever entity you will use here or have you spoken to others who have (wondering whether they could lock up funds)?
Depends on the price, but I'm interested. Diggin the name too :)Prototype will be made after some small revisions, and some feedback from the community! :D
Will the be a prototype made before the gb goes live? I usually go for more greyscale colors for my boards, but I'm curious how this blue will turn out :thumb:
WK and WKL? Or just WKL?I was planning on WKL only this round.

i will do that, thanks. This is a tenkeyless design, inspired by the desire to create something different.

jokes aside, looks neat -- you should design your desired tolerance in (i see zero on the weight) and specify them in technical documents so nothing is left up to the imagination
This looks like the Sofia, albeit in a TKL form. Also looks almost exactly like the OTD 360 Corsa, sans the bottom bit. Can you elaborate on what is pioneering about this design?the corsa is definitely one of my grail boards, and I think i involuntarily modeled this after it, but i don't think that it has the same design language (what I mean by that are the fillets and the chamfers)
This is a tenkeyless design, inspired by the desire to create something different. I've made several revisions on this exact design, and while I look up to many many creators, I want to pioneer something new and exciting.
Nice boring rectangle, one color. I like it the crisp edges (hopefully not Tofu sharp?) and the thin bezels. I'll be keeping an eye on this for when the prototype arrives.
What is the typing angle?
Will you be releasing the plate file eventually? I'm not a big fan of brass and I know many others aren't either.
Edit: and Stripe? No buyer protection, no thanks.
And I do have to complain about your wording here:QuoteThis is a tenkeyless design, inspired by the desire to create something different. I've made several revisions on this exact design, and while I look up to many many creators, I want to pioneer something new and exciting.
Right now Infinitum looks like "more of the same, but executed well". Which is totally fine by me -- I think we need more well-designed boring rectangles, and that's personally what I want in a keyboard. But I'm just not seeing the "different" or "new and exciting" here.
That said, the Sofia is also explicitly meant to look like the Corsa. And the Mech27 very clearly emulates its side profile. Looking like a Corsa isn't a bad thing. It's just not a new thing.

thanks for all the feedback.
5 degree angle
plate files will be public
i guess all keyboards are boring rectangles, aren't they :))
stripe is something i'm still debating. i should do more research into more payment options, but I am going to explore vendor options as well. I did change the wording of that segment, and I agree with your evaluation.
hopefully it won't be tofu sharp, but i'll make more revisions to the sharpness.
I quite like it

I would highly recommend using Shopify.
In curious what’s supposed to set this board apart from other TKLs? Seems bland. (Sorry)no harm in asking. I think what sets this apart is the aggressive design language and (hopefully) the overall build quality of the board will be superior.

the sharper-than-usual corners and edges, the side and rear profile is something I consider "aggressive".In curious what’s supposed to set this board apart from other TKLs? Seems bland. What do you consider aggressive about the design?
As a math teacher, I feel obligated to buy this. Looking forward to the proto!ad infinitum <3
I understand that the board may not be for me for this reason.. But the infinity symbol I've never been a fan of. Would look into buying otherwise. Infinitum written somehow instead would be really great *to my taste*. The rest of the design (all of it) is exceptionnally clean

the logo is only on the underside, and it's silk screened on. I was originally considering a top logo, but I removed that. I'll consider alternatives for future runs, perhaps, but thanks for your interest!
Will there be any clearance issues with H87ALPS due to the contacts?it should work fine, I'll check it out
That is straight up gorgeous, the infinite symbol looks a little better than I thought it would. Any thoughts on making it thinner & smaller and moving it to the bottom right corner?as it stands, I'm pretty happy with the logo and the plan is to keep it the same unless a significant number of people want it minimized
Great looking proto, is the anodizing already what the final colour will look like?yep it is!

Make a WK version as well, and I'll buy one. There are literally no available boring rectangle TKLs available anywhere right now, much less in a nice color.planning on keeping this WKL only, but thanks for your interest!
ISO layout avail?
What plate materials will be offered?
Good job on the design, looks very clean :thumb:
The prototype looks great, I'm really liking the color. :thumb:
omg excite
This is HOT.
Usually not a fan of blue but really digging the muted/greyish tone of this board. Not sure if I'll join but great execution on the prototype!
The color is drawing me in.. Looks great.thanks guys <3
Looking forward to the WK version. Hope this is super successful to speed that long :).
Daaaaaang. This is awesome!
Looks p good, nice clean design :thumb: I like the thin bezels you went with and the side profile is really nice.
I like the minimalistic design approach!
+1 for ISO
And do you plan on making any alps plates (or just plate files, so we can order our own plates)?
This would be perfect since it is WKL and supports h87alps and alps tkl offers are very scarce.
Another thing: I love the colour in the renders, the prototype seems (at least on the pictures) less blue-ish, could that be the lighting?
Great design, definitely in for one because I like boring rectangles. How's the finger grip vs. the weight? The finger grip was mostly designed for aesthetics, but it does work pretty well to lift up the keyboard. I will say that if you have large fingers, then it may be more difficult, as the grip is pretty shallow. The weight is amazing as always
This is exactly what I've been looking for. What you thinking on a timeline?I want to make sure the new USB port is functional, so I will prototype just that small portion containing the USB port to ensure fit, unfinished. Once that is done, expect the GB to start soon. Most likely early-mid February.
a small little update, the one and only mistake I could find on the proto was the USB port, which is far too small. I redid the USB port to accomodate for the larger size, and it changes the rear profile slightly, but I honestly like it.
i will remachine just that little part locally, unfinished.

It will be first come, first serve. You will order a spot for the group buy, so you will have to wait for production to complete before recieving the product. Cool! I have never been on here before and this is a new endeavor, so how do we get the opportunity to purchase one? Is it fcfs on an announcement or can we "pre-purchase" it?
Thank you!

Not to put you off on this board, but just be aware that this board will be very expensive. Don't be surprised if it will cost somewhere north of $400. You seem like you're fairly new to the hobby so I want to give you a bit of a heads up.
Yes, I should've told you that as well haha. This will NOT be a cheap board, considering the mirror polished stainless steel. But enjoy the hobby anyways, very soon I'm sure you'll end up in our shoes, where you'll have no problem dropping that much money on a board haha. That's what happens with this hobbySo there will be an announcement for the group buy then? Sorry for all the questions, I'm new. I definitely hope I get the chance to buy one!

Nope, I completely understand! I actually saw someone say $600 so I am quite aware that these are very expensive. I have been looking for some time but realized it's not as easy as stepping in and saying "Take my money". I was looking a lot of places and finally stumbled across this forum thanks to Reddit. I have been working on my set up for years and needed to take the next step!
Thanks for the warning though bud!
I’m confused! The first pics (renders?) showed a definite blue color. All the latest shown more grey with blue visible on the vertical angles. Any “color” board will usually kill a GB for me as I don’t want to get locked into a certain design (until endgame of course!!). Please, when you take final pics, make absolutely positive the color matches what the keeb looks like in sunlight? It could be your indoor lighting or the pics could be 100% color accurate. But at this type of grey/blue color point a little bit goes a loooong way. Same with red/greys. Thanks and good luck!!!The renders were colored to a Pantone color I had selected. The prototype turned out to be more muted than the Pantone itself, but I liked it regardless, so that is what the color will be for production.
DSC_7441, rear shot is the color accurate picture?yep!
New here also. Found this place trying to find an aluminum TKL but everywhere is sold out! So crazy! Anyway, I don't have time to check discord servers, websites, forums, etc. every day for a super-secret keyboard sale date. I just want to drop $500-$600 on a nice aluminum keyboard that will last for years to come. Any advice on where I can purchase such an item? I'd love this one but it seems like it is already sold out before its even a reality. Are any of these group buys run by business-minded adults or just enthusiasts playing around in order to learn design and manufacturing?

So maybe if you don’t want to do the work and put in the effort then you’ll find yourself wasting 600 dollars on something that you don’t even like. Imho the fun is in seeing how everything comes together in the end.

Looks great but I need a WK version before I jump in. Hopefully on R2 ;)Since a bunch of people have asked, I'll look into adding another SKU. No guarantees but I'll try
Great looking board, are there any plans to have an EU proxy?I was planning on handling the GB myself as opposed to using a proxy, since this is a smaller run.

Shipping shouldn't be ridiculously expensive though.

Thanks for the info. My main concern were VAT/import taxes but I’ve come accustomed to just mentally adding 19% to every GB price by now lol
Still interested though, the color and weight design are beautiful!

Looks awesome! Price is steep, but I think it'll be worth it. Please let the start time not be while I'm in class or sleeping haha. Either way, looks fantastic and I can't wait to hopefully get my hands on one of these.I'll try to time this so that there is a way for everyone to get in, without having to wake up in the middle of the night/be inconvenient. I'm not certain about FCFS for all of the units, but we will see.
do you have an idea when'll preorder start ? 1 month, 2,... ?all things considered, likely late February to early March.
New proto looks gorgeous!!This is the old prototype, new one hasn't been ordered yet due to factory shutdown.
Here's a quick update, since I haven't put many of em up here in a while.
The sale is going to be run through my newly launched website, eniigmakeyboards.com. Feel free to check it out.
Also, extra plates will be offered in both POM and aluminium.
The second prototype (bottom piece only, as that was where the issue resides) has been ordered as of yesterday, and the POM plate prototype will be ordered tonight.
I also made some changes to the plate design to further accentuate the leaf spring, and to not cause uneven flex (which is something I experienced on the first plate).
Last change: I rounded some of the edges a bit more on the final version, as I wasn't happy with how sharp some of the intersections of fillets/chamfers were.
At this point, we're looking at about a 15 day production time for the prototype, so if the coronavirus dies down a bit, we should be on track for a late March group buy. Cheers everyone :thumb:
Hi all- quick update here.
This board will now be using a custom PCB along with the unified daughterboard.
The estimated price is low-mid 600s. I can't give any concrete timeline at the moment due to coronavirus, but fingers crossed, early-mid May group buy.
I added some more renders to the OP, but in case you don't want to scroll up, here's some eye candy.

With the custom PCB will it still be ALPS compatible?
Need that wk and I don't mind 6u. :)Likely will be WKL only R1. Sorry!
Not trying to be rude here, just clarifying. What about this board makes its GB price over 600 dollars? Unless there is something I am missing, this is just a traditional 3 part top mount TKL with a plate and PCB. Even with the custom PCB, this could probably be made one-off for less than 600. Again, not trying to be confrontational, I am just confused.Couple of things: the stainless steel weight brings up the cost and a 25% tariff on all imports into the US. One off (proto) was far from 600, close to double your estimate. Keeping it very brief here, but PM me for more info
based on the proto photos this board won't be seamless. Might be worth updating the renders to reflect that.I think the breakdown photos reflect the fact that it isn’t seamless :)

Ah. Ive seen solid stainless boards for much less than this. Also, 25% tariff is on raw material, not product, and port importation, so run that over again. Ill pass.

25% is on product, not just raw material. You would know if you actually did anything but try and **** on everyone, CE.

What is CE?Carbon fiber edition I guess :))
CE is of one of the most prominent scammers in this community. Don’t want to make this thread a mess, so let’s leave it at that. What is CE?Carbon fiber edition I guess :))
What makes this more expensive to make than say TGR Jane V2 CE? Im really curious because the design seems simple enough to machine.See above please, but the large surface area of the stainless steel weight and the 25% import tariff into the United States increase the cost. Also, certain fillets are not as easy as you'd think to manufacture. If you want more info on which ones specifically, I'd be happy to let you know.
Will he be building it as well? Or is it just an unboxing of the built proto?Just an unboxing of the built proto
hey that's on my birthday! GLWGB, my dude! Thanks very much! And happy early birthday :D
Glad to see that this has a release date now. Been following this for a while and I love the board. I had a couple of questionsHey, thanks for your support.
- I know that in your discord, you were saying that the new proto has some color changes. Do you expect it to be a bit different from the renders?
- I may have missed this but are there other pcb/plates that are compatible with this case? Just making sure so that I can prepare to buy a spare if there are none.
Thanks and glwc

The final color will indeed appear a little different. I don't want to make any statements about colors because the only photos I've seen of it is super inconsistent, but once it arrives (Monday), I will update you on that. A
s to your second question, plates are not compatible, but the newer h87a is compatible, if you snap off the USB port and opt to use the JST connector. However, plate files will be made public after the group buy and both PCBs and plates will be continually stocked on my store, as I don't want any board to become a paperweight.
Hope that answers your questions :thumb:
$635. Ouch. No thanks.

First off, your numbers are way off. Prototype pictures are in the OP. There is a 25% tariff on the imports and I know this from both firsthand and secondhand experience. The 25% tariff bit has already been clarified by pwner in this very thread.
Okay, so 25% of $200 is $50. Let's say $250 for case (generous at 60 qty). $50 for pcb + plate (also very generous). $300 per case and then charging $635? Nice.
Also how about seeing a working prototype? I don't see a working pcb anywhere. Only renders.
Not that there is a 25% tariff on a completed product. You'll just believe anyone, right? Maybe do some of your own research first to realize that it's only the raw materials and some of their derivatives. Again, if you're paying 25% tariff on a finished product, you are letting yourself get scammed lulz.
Here's an example of something you can find by googling and using your brain: https://www.jdsupra.com/legalnews/president-trump-expands-section-232-36602/
"Muted Blue" looks gorgeous. Thanks for the support! Yeah, the price is mostly due to the weight material, and that isn’t something I was really willing to change as that was one of my original goals for this board
Regarding the price, you running the GB, you set the prices (respect).
:-X
I have no idea about tariffs but I don't see why they would lie to us, this hobby is about superfluous excess. We just buy stuff we like there is no need to justify any price. If its too much then we just don't buy it. :thumb:
To make money of course. You think vendors are your friends? It's a simple transaction. Esp for all the new upcoming vendors trying to charge $$$ for nothing. Take a look at GB prices from a few years ago. Even with inflation it wouldn't cost as much today as some of the highest charging vendors. By all means spend $$$$ on keyboards. Just don't pretend like it's a great deal or that you're not being ripped off.

So, no proof. Got it.
LOL. Wait. You said you trust him? Meaning you can't confirm the tariff actually exists or confirmed on your own at all?
Wow. Huge red flags. From that comment it sounds like you're not actually the one doing the factory order. Man. I feel a bit sorry then. Guess if you haven't actually confirmed tariffs on your own than there's no reason for me to say anything. Good luck with the GB!

I can confirm the 25% is real. I got hit with it for Rukia round 1. It dropped as I was trying to deliver, so I had to pull out of pocket for customs to release the boards. Sucky timing.
I received notification via text from DHL Express that my package was locked up in customs until I pay the 25% import/duty tax.
Not really sure what kind of proof anyone can give without doxing, but here is my confirmation that I paid it, with stuff redacted:

...Also doesn't look like Jaxx charged more and I don't believe Pwner did either so why this one then?
I just realized I didn't post pictures of the PCB here, which may have caused some confusion. Here's a picture of the PCB!That's not even a working pcb...the components haven't even been soldered on.

@AevynThanks for an actual response. I appreciate it. I did take a look at the STR reports and I didn't see anything that would make me assume keyboards would be affected. However, jaxx did post some actual proof so I'll concede the tariff portion.
For what it's worth, I think the confusion lies in that there are multiple 25% tariffs that Trump levied against China.
There is a 25% steel tariff which I believe only applies to raw materials.
There is also a separate 25% tariff that applies to various finished goods based on their HTSUS subheading. You can find a list here:
https://www.ecomcrew.com/trumps-china-tariffs/
Few things I don't believe:
1. There's a working pcb (guess this doesn't matter as the 87a will work. Hopefully)
2. Proto costing $600 lulz. Even the most expensive manus don't charge this much for a basic one off with a ss mirror polished weight.
3. That 25% tariffs would raise the sale price that high. Big difference between 25% tariff on declared value versus sold price. Also doesn't look like Jaxx charged more and I don't believe Pwner did either so why this one then?

You look at all of the 10,000+ categories and determined keyboards were not affected?
Real talk: Why are you even posting on this thread? Are you just looking for a fight? i don't get it.
It doesn't take a genius to CTRL+F for stainless steel. There aren't even that many entries for SS.
This might be a very excessive hobby, but I still believe the people who buy boards should be aware of what's going on instead of being lied to. It's easy to say the price is there to make money instead of all this BS about tariffs (or lying about the proto price). Although if he did end up paying $600 for the proto, then I can't say much if he's being taken advantage of.
Real talk: If you all want to pay $635 for a $300 board, then be my guest. This thread has definitely taught me that y'all are more than willing to pay $$$ for basic stuff. I'll be sure to make my first $250 board at like $600. :)
If you all want to pay $635 for a $300 board, then be my guest.
Cleaned up the thread substantially. If you want to talk about general pricing of boards or tariffs, do it in another thread. If this board doesn't interest you, say your piece and move on. There's absolutely no reason to flood a thread with posts on why this IC doesn't appeal to you.Thank you and good riddance

Sadly, I have to agree. OP has no track record to justify gambling with that kind of money.

I have multiple quotes from various manufacturers for a "basic one off with a ss mirror polished weight" that are in fact in the $600 - $700 range if you'd like to see...As a matter of fact, some of the "expensive manus" quotes were over $1000.
I'm curious, have you ever had a design quoted on your own or are you just making a bunch of assumptions? It's not as cheap as you seem to think to have a quantity of 1 of something manufactured.

I am not going to bash the board or anything along those lines, but situations like this are worrisome and can come with unforeseen legal consequences if everything is not done legitimately. I just want to see more proof of Eniigma's ability to work with a vendor before I hand money directly to him. A sole GB runner never bodes well. Along with the pricing drama and previous execution of other concepts, I don't have high hopes for this. Feel free to prove me wrong, that is honestly what I want, but I do not want to see this board become the defacto standard for anyone joining the community and pitching their design. If a mod removes this, so be it, I just think this is dangerous. I can make a long list of previous examples of a situation like this if need be.

Wonderfully put. I do love this board but I do feel a bit sketch giving it to a single person running who doesn't have a history of previous GBs succeeding. I don't mean to **** on the runner at all but I do agree that this conversation is necessary.
Debug ISP is not needed as PCB can run bootloader, ESD protection is only on the USB lines, which is handled by the daughterboard, and decoupling capacitors are present on the board. We are going to be using the ATMEGA32u4 because it's better suited for a PCB of this kind. But thank you for all your suggestions! :D*Sigh*I just realized I didn't post pictures of the PCB here, which may have caused some confusion. I think you should upgrade the pcb a few more things, currently there is no debug debug isp (isp programmer), no antistatic (esd protect) even no noise filter capacitor.
if I were you I would use atmega32a to reduce the cost of making pcb

Let me clarify something about my previous "failed" group buy, the POM Alice: I cancelled that because I wasn't happy with the quality of the prototype, and I realized that what I was selling wasn't up to par with what I consider my quality standard. Hence, I shelved it. Regardless of how much people continue to bring this up, I am still glad that I ended up cancelling that group buy because I'd rather be held accountable for a "failed" GB than for shipping subpar products to customers.
And of course, as I said before, everyone starts somewhere. That's how this group buy system and this entire community works. Hope that answers your questions :thumb:
While those are great first steps, they are not my concern. Not to be rude, but it truly isn't that difficult to contact manufacturers and run a Shopify store. My concern lies with the financial backing and your prototype situation. Do you have enough money to bail out this GB if there are issues? Will your second prototype be delivered before the GB, since the first one had such major issues? Do you have any sort of insurance prepared for the kind of stock you are planning to sell? Are you personally prepared to package, quality check, sort, and ship up to 60 boards to unique addresses?
I really am hopeful that you can do this, but from everything I have heard and seen, you are making some leaps that I fear could cause issues for both you and this community.

convenient how the new jersey department of revenue and enterprise services doesn't have any business registered to youI’m using a DBA so trolls hiding behind alts like yourself don’t doxx me. Seriously man, how many more alts are you gonna make to make your point?
At 635 for the base, could we perhaps get a typing test of the prototype to try and validate the price point?I’ve attached the 2 typing tests that have been done so far. They are both recorded on an aluminum plate. http://cloud.tapatalk.com/s/5ea375a89c87d/Infinitum%20Creams%20sound%20test.mp3 (http://cloud.tapatalk.com/s/5ea375a89c87d/Infinitum%20Creams%20sound%20test.mp3)

I might not be able to afford this one but it looks very clean, love the color too! I'm just curious why you didnt go the gasket route with this one since it is already high end. I see a lot of TKLs sticking with top mount so i just wanted to know if there's any reason to it :)At the time I started designing this, I wasn’t a huge fan of gasket mounted keyboards. The only one I had ever tried didn’t feel great to me. That opinion has since changed, but I still think a consistent feeling board is better than a super flexible board!
Pretty new here, what would the expected delivery date be if the GB starts in May? Q4 2020?Estimated delivery target is late August, early September.
I take it that ISO is not an option? The final colour is superb and the weight makes it very clean. Nice work and good luck with the GB either way.ISO isn’t available in the plate, but it is in the PCB. I will be releasing all those plate files, so if you are an ISO user, you will be able to get plates made for that layout.

That picture doesn't look accurate tbh. Here's a picture with better lighting (outside) of the final color, versus one of the renders. They look pretty similar to me.Show Image(https://i.imgur.com/kzZZeYy.jpg)
It's might be only me, but I feel there is too much green (the original renders has an evidently a nice blue color *the Muted Blue*, which is very different than this one, still nice tho, but very different). :)

Will you be releasing an ISO plate file for it? So Can I just take the file and get one made? If you have the plate file for ISO why not offer it as an extra item. I would order the extra plate in CF just to get ISO in this board.
