Not OP here, but there hasn't even been a prototype of the board yet let alone opening orders to us.  I'm sure we'll get updates as they're available.

Beautiful case! Will there be an update KLE-layout including the new changes, i.e. split spacebar?

For the split spacebar, which of the following configurations would be preferred?

 1.25/1,25/1,25/2,75/1,25/2,25/1,5/1,5 or 1.25/1,25/1,25/2,75/1,25/2,25/1/1/1

could you edit that to clean it up a bit? Having a hard time figuring it out with some decimals missing and some commas missing, very confused :P

Wish u can add the deep navy blue as a color option since that go well with a lot of keyset (Yuri, Nautilus, Royal Navy, and so on)...

I'll throw this out just for laughs, cause I doubt it would be done, but I'm planning on doing it on a custom 6 x 16 board for myself...
This is just the spacing to replace the spacebar:
1.25 - 1.25 - 1.5 - 1.5 - 1.25

so the full row would be
1.25 - 1.25 - 1.25 - 1.25 - 1.25 - 1.5 - 1.5 - 1.25  1.25 - 1.25 - 1.25 - 1 - 1 -1

Chosen because they are all widely available bottom row caps.

My home hand position is going to be shifted one key to the right so it may make more sense to do:
1.25 - 1.5 - 1.5 - 1.25 - 1.25
for most people, but you get the drift. :)

Weights are overrated as hell. Go with what's best for the design you guys have in mind.

Do you have a guesstimate of what it would weigh?

How much does it effect the pricing?

I like heavy things, but I'd probably be okay without a weight personally. Klippe has shown me that you don't need a weight to be plenty heavy :P.

TBH I think the weight would be more important for the plastic bottom, since you are losing a lot of metal there. With all aluminum it doesn't REALLY matter a whole lot.

It would also really depend on price. A $200 board with no weight is not big thing, a $400 board with no weight is harder to swallow.

Nice board, my compliments to the cheff's
Trying to find a reason not to want one is hard hahaha REAL hard  :thumb:

Only thing i would want to see on this and more boards i usb-c not that i have anything that works with it.
But having a usb-c connector means longer lifespan / durability.. but guess if you can solder your own board finding a replacement mini-usb port to re-solder itn't much of an issue...
This would be a great project for me to dip my toes in to the higher-end market of building your own.
Yah i'm a noob when it comes to building your own never did..Considering my FC660C cost me $250 adding a controller sum accent key-caps the price shot up to €300 with customs crap.. But going in to custom keyboard parts as far as customs is concerned these are all replacement parts under warranty  :p hahha

Thank you for all of the support!

I can't comment on the price at the moment, sorry.

What do you think about having "CU-75" CNC'd into the back of the case? The lettering will be about 3mm deep, and will be fairly large.

I believe that the weight of the case will be around 1.4kg, however with the letters CNC'd into the the back, the weight will most likely be around 1.2 - 1.3kg.

I'd prefer no logo as well.

The back will most likely have the following engraved into it:

        CU-75

           by

   capsunlocked

with a depth of 2-3mm.

Yes!

The design of case is being re designed to be more consistent with another project that will hopefully be announced soon. The redesigned CU-75 will hopefully be unveiled in the next couple of weeks, before Christmas.

I like the new design. The original caught my eye but I was never a fan of those 'pillars' at the corners. The new design flows much better with the one piece bottom IMO.

I'm eagerly awaiting pricing info. Lack of colour choice is not a problem for me personally, but I can see it limiting sales somewhat. This 'luxury' talk concerns me though, given it's such an overused term nowadays that so often has little real bearing on quality and is far more of a marketing gimmick. Consequently, and contradictory, it can make something sound cheap. Unless the aim is to deliver the Bugatti of keyboards (in which case few are going to be able to afford it), I would drop that term and just focus on delivering a top notch quality product for a good price. It's quite evident from the interest so far that this is all that people ultimately want, and these qualities are not exclusive to a 'luxury' item... they damn well better not be anyway! ;)

Just for the record, I have bought a Varmilo keyboard from Caps Unlocked before and I found them excellent to deal with... very responsive to emails and answered all my (many) queries promptly. I would have no hesitation using them again.

I like the new design with metal bottoms, but it's not even close to as nice looking with the acrylic bottom imo. the original was unique, I'm not actually sure I'd buy the new one (not that I don't like it, more just that it's not unique enough that I've got to have it. There are lots of options for a full metal case, I liked that it was focused on the acrylic bottom first).

I'm kinda sad you didn't go the other direction and figure out how to do the old design with a metal bottom under the acrylic, so it was like a metal case with windows. THAT would be sick.

The keyboard case was redesigned because whilst the original design was nice, it was difficult to apply to different / smaller layouts such as the HHKB layout, split ortholinear keyboard and numpad.

So just to make sure, the first design with "pillars" is now ruled out, right?
