capsunlocked is excited to announce a new, original mechanical keyboard kit to the mechanical keyboard community.

The CU-75, is a 75% mechanical keyboard. The PCB will support both Cherry MX and ALPS switches, and there will be 2 separate plates to accommodate both switches. The CU-75 will support both ISO and ANSI layouts, and will feature underglow RGB lighting and also individual in-switch single colour LEDs. This will be the first 75% to support both Cherry MX and ALPS switches.

LAYOUT:

CHANGE LOG:

UPDATE 1 || 27 / 09 / 2017

- Created the post.

UPDATE 2 || 29 / 09 / 2017

- Added Stepped Caps Lock Information
- Corrected PCB Option Information
- Added Weight Information under Case Render 1, and added weight options.
- Software information updated.

UPDATE 3 || 13 / 10 / 2017

Here is a list of all the planned changes:

- The weight/insert on the front of the case is going to be removed. I am looking to replace this with a design on the underside of the case in either the form of a brass weight, or an engraving into the actual surface of the case.

I am in the process of selecting which renders will be added to this post, and the most recent ones feature the branding on the front. Please ignore this.

- This kit will feature south facing LEDs.
- This kit will support a split space bar. The render of the PCB at the top of this page is currently incorrect.
- The colour options will most likely be as follows: Matte Black Aluminium, Polished Black Aluminium, and Raw Aluminium for those who want to colour their case on their own.
- Unfortunately there will most likely be one option for the PCB (Black with White Silkscreen).
- Each kit will come with a sleeve, cable and cleaning cloth included.

I was actually looking to get somebody to produce something like this but in 65% format: https://ae01.alicdn.com/kf/UTB8aR7skE_4iuJk43Fqq6z.FpXaY.jpg
The difference is that I was going for an underglow design but if you will be going ahead with the CU-75, I might back out.

I just noticed switches are mounted upside down on the PCB. Is this really necessary? Cant you just do the backlight with regular mounted switches, like varmillo does, for example? Upside down switches just dont feel the same.

Glad you'vs swapped to a top mounted plate instead of tray mount

How is the white aluminium going to be achieved? I'm under the impression PEO gives the best results, but have no idea on cost/availability of it

Once the case design has been completed I will be contacting companies that can use the PEO process. If white is too expensive or is not possible, then another colour will be considered. What other colours would you like to see?

It looks very similar to the M65a, but I like how the case is a bit more curved in the renders. Plus, I would love that Matte White.

I might add raw Aluminium as an option, especially if white is not available.

This keyboard will support stepped caps lock! :)

If this keyboard is well received within the community, I will definitely consider a numpad and other layouts!

100% Luxury

Can we get an explanation on what exactly makes this %100 luxurious? Is that more luxurious than other offerings out right now? On paper it seems like it would be very similar to other customs already in circulation.

Maybe this part? But I'd hardly think this would constitute a huge claim of luxury.

This keyboard will support a Stepped Caps Lock Key!

I think this is an assumption for pretty much any custom board these days, if it didn't support stepped caps it just wouldn't make sense.

The image above shows the weight that will be on this keyboard.

Is that a weight or an insert? Does it extend into the board more past the lettering? If not then i doubt it would qualify as a weight.

The lettering will be on a plate that will be on the inside of the case. Admittedly this is purposely not a large weight.

Personally, I'd prefer matte over gloss. If the matte black ends up like apple's version, I'd be very happy.

Several users has questioned the “luxury” aspect of the kit, suggesting that it hardly differs from the quality of current custom kits and that there is nothing that deems this product as luxury.

The CU-75 is being marketed as a luxury product because capsunlocked believe it will be a luxury product. capsunlocked is in early promising talks with manufacturers from within the United Kingdom and United States to get them to produce the components of this kit. Although this may impact the price of the individual components, capsunlocked feels supporting local manufacturers is important and will lead to a higher quality product being produced.

The materials and finishes chosen also qualify the CU-75 to be a luxury product. No other kit designer considers offering gold or silver plated positioning plates. Custom kits are expensive, and capsunlocked believes that all components should be aesthetically pleasing, which is why capsunlocked will be offering customers the chance to purchase a PCB that matches their keyboard.

The packaging is also important to capsunlocked and will be developed and designed to meet the high standards.

capsunlocked does not see this as another keyboard kit, but aims for this to be an experience from the moment you unbox it.

This, and all future original products produced by capsunlocked will be luxury and this has already been proven as capsunlocked is the only retailer to offer 22Carat Solid Gold Keycaps (https://instagram.com/p/BSbx2BPlP4p/).

Thank you for reading.

If you have any feedback or questions, please don’t hesitate to leave a comment or contact capsunlocked directly.

capsunlocked is excited to share this project with the community.

My only criticism is your lack of color options.
At the very least you should offer silver.

oh, maybe just me but i couldnt care less about the packaging....its going straight into the recycle bin.

Materials used are listed as Aluminum for the most part which is the most used material for customs, but I dont blame you for sticking with it. Is it a specific aluminum that is stronger? Maybe some other redeeming quality which will make it more appealing than other customs?

Extremely limited color options makes this kind of lack luster as well. Maybe offer something like Hard ano, or even just a wide array of coloring options.

Choosing between a black or white pcb, with glossy or matte options hardly seems like a truly luxurious option. Why not expand on the PCB design with something that separates you guys from the pack? Split space, USB-C, uncommon colors (gold, silver, clear, copper), etc.

Packaging is not grounds for a claim of luxuriousness. I do not plan on typing on the packaging. Unless of course, this is like a wooden, leather lined, bulky CASE. Or maybe a form fitted carrying case that i could travel with this board in.

And no offense, but that gold cap looks extremely rough.

Like i said in the original question, the only thing currently setting you truly apart from the pack would be the gold/silver plated plates. If those work out, then more power to you, but until you guys prove otherwise, this is still just another 75% that blends in with the rest.

My only criticism is your lack of color options.
At the very least you should offer silver.

oh, maybe just me but i couldnt care less about the packaging....its going straight into the recycle bin.

There will be more renders coming soon. I am open to adding more colours, thank you for the feedback!

Maybe this part? But I'd hardly think this would constitute a huge claim of luxury.

Oh, here comes the Luxury Inspector. Please adjust title to 96.85% luxury only.

Tbh, eat a **** my guy.

Several users has questioned the “luxury” aspect of the kit, suggesting that it hardly differs from the quality of current custom kits and that there is nothing that deems this product as luxury.

The CU-75 is being marketed as a luxury product because capsunlocked believe it will be a luxury product.

Thank you for the feedback, I really appreciate it. Hopefully once images of prototypes/samples emerge, potential customers will be able to see the quality of this kit.

I am open to adding more colours, which other colours would you like to see?

Renders look fantastic but 75% is not for me.   Why not 65%?

Why not 65%?

Because 75% is 10% more luxurious?

Unfortunately, I don't currently use a 65%. However if this is successful I will definitely expand this case design to cover different layouts. :)

There are many IC/GB 75% keyboards, but this one has really piqued my interest. I really like the curvature of the bezels.

Between this keyboard, the xeno 75%, and LZ-CLSm, I'll have to do some thinking... (as well as stopping myself from murdering my bank account)

The PCB shows north facing LEDs and the Renders show South facing LEDS - is this part of the Luxury Experience?

This is a mistake and is already being addressed. There will be new renders coming soon.

That's retarded. You won't be able to find replacement caps.
1.25 + 2.25 + 2.75 is the best way to go for split.
meh.

The way you address me is wrong. Work on your humility and tone towards strangers, it looks bad.
