3D mice and track balls
« on: Sat, 19 October 2013, 12:24:04 »
Are they similar? I've always wanted to try one but from my understanding they are specifically for 3D modeling. Could I use one similar to a trackball? Or should I just get a trackball? Lately my hand has been hurting from mousing around.

Or am I just an old man?
No, he’s not around. How that sound to ya? Jot it down.

You're just and old fart.

Seriously though; I haven't tried any of the 3D mice(although I really want to, but they're a bit expensive to pick up just to try), but from what I've seen I don't think they'll be better than a trackball outside of the applications the 3D mice are designed for.

I would say either get a regular trackball and/or a more comfortable mouse, and get used to higher dpi to keep mousing work down.

I had that 3d mouse, I didn't really like it when moving models in 3d space compared with the normal mouse I was used to using.

I've used the slimblade for a few months now. I don't have forearm pain anymore from the constant clicking on a mouse. With the slimblade, I use the thumb to left click and the pinky to right click. Very, very comfortable.

I had that 3d mouse, I didn't really like it when moving models in 3d space compared with the normal mouse I was used to using.

I love using mine in Solidworks, it feels very intuitive to me for moving the model around. Left hand on Spacenavigator, right on mouse.
Buying more keycaps,
it really hacks my wallet,
but I must have them.
