Hi Everyone!
Following feedback and the support received for the CU7 we have decided to design the CU1, a single programmable encoder!
The CU1 will be QMK compatible and will have the same dial as the CU7!
We are working on custom dial colours that can be purchased separately. The only colour that has been decided is black, but we are open to suggestions!
What's in the box?
- Aluminium Dial
- Aluminium Case
- Aluminium Base Plate
- 3 x Silicone Feet
- PCB (with all components pre-soldered)
Price
- £29.99 inc VAT for UK customers
- £24.99 ex VAT for non-UK Customers

Cool idea, but challenging from a cable use standpoint, hard to justify a separate USB cable for one encoder. Any chance of BT modules or something else that would make this less of a resource hog?

How big is the knob and can the knob get bigger?

I'm actually hoping this will be wired. I have a Microsoft Surface Dial that I currently use wireless for various apps and its mostly great. My main complaint is that every so often its a ***** to get it to "wake up" and do its job. It'll go into a power save state and either I have to try commands two or three times initially to get it going again, or I'm forced to alt tab out to the thing I want to do and mess with controls to get it back.
Once its going, its not a problem, but I'd rather not deal with the song and dance at all. Just give me a cable so I can be done with it.
So, again. Hoping for wired connectivity. I'll def buy in.

I'm disappointed, I was expecting a one-key macropad ;)

-
Oh, I'm in!
-
Yeah, I was also expecting a one-key macropad.
-
Can you press ze knob down?
-
Ohhhhh?
-
Oooh, I like it! I'll probably try to grab one, but would especially be interested in a purple one.
-
I do love the knobs.
-
Insert knob joke here
-
Would be fun to have one for volume
-
This looks great going to have to get one of these.
-
Kinda want it to be pressed, like a big button. But very nice.

Here is the lastest status and timeline:
- PCB prototypes were ordered several weeks ago and will be shipping out to us this week.
- Case prototypes are in-production and we still need to confirm the dial colours. Any suggestions? :)
- Group buy will launch on 1st July and CE testing will be ongoing whilst the group buy is live.
Definitely open to dial colour suggestions - let me know! :)

I'm 100% in on this. will the knob have the option to press it down as well?
Also for optional colors besides black, I think brass, copper/rose gold, white, and silver color options for the extra knobs would be amazing, I myself would buy a brass and copper/rose gold colored one.
Excited for the GB!

Please forgive my ignorance, I am new to this scene and still learning everything I can... Is the dial is able to be configured for doing a secondary function while it's depressed AND spun in either direction? For example, let's say in its normal state spinning left and right is volume up and down but spinning while depressed it's functioning as PgUp or PgDn?
Thank you.

v nice. what a lovely knob.

CU1 Prototypes arrived today alongside different colour dials.
Will post pictures as soon as possible.
Group buy will most likely be bought forward to 21st June and will run until 19th July. This isn't confirmed but there is nothing else to wait for / check; will keep you updated. The GB date is still 1st July until further notice.
Kit will start from £29.99 inc VAT and extra dials will cost £9.99 inc VAT.
You wil be able to purchase dials separately (for those that have purchased CU7s and would want a different colour dial).
-
Here are the new dial colours that will be available to order!

Sorry if it's inappropriate to dig up n old thread but... with everything that's going on with CU... I can only presume these will not be produced? I noticed refunds for a bunch of other group-buys but not for the CU1...
-
As far as I'm aware, nobody has been refunded anything not even the GB's he said would or had been refunded.
-
i got refunded the most recent GB.
Probably won't see a CU7 or CU65 though & i'm wondering if any refund is down the road for that.
