I had the opportunity to play around with some Gateron blank PBT key caps in Cherry Profile!

Each set is a single color and includes the following:

These are finished products.  I know Shadovved will run a GB soon^tm.

I've never tried BSP so I don't have a basis for comparison.

+1 curious to know the texture, and I don't have a SP set so I can't take anything from that comparison. I will definitely buy a set when Shadovved runs a GB, but curious if they are rough or smooth.

ISO enter may be coming soon... or at least I was told they were thinking about it. I really hope they get the tooling for it made as it's really all they are missing for 'standard' key sizes per row in their current line up.
Pricing is something like $27-35 a set depending on some things. Custom colors are possible. I'll likely be using them for all PBT and POM that I deal with in the future.

It could be the angle. If you look at the shadow from the keycap on the lower right side, the light hits the HHKB keycap from a different angle than the other keycaps.

The HHKB key cap really does have more of a matte finish.  However, the angle of the light played a part since I may not have placed the key caps in the same spot for each shot.

Before I came across this thread, I was looking at BSP and Vortex PBT Blanks. I'm excited to hear how these compare when people get their hands on them.

I asked about two-tone sets but they prefer to sell single color sets. Things might change but we have to wait for Shadovved to get things moving.

Okay so apparently Gateron/LCC=Plum which is what Ivan used for his last round of Pitch Black sets, and he had issues with Plum who was acting as a middle party distributor for Gateron. He is going through Gateron directly for the next round of Pitch Black.

Ivan is using a different manufacturer for the new round (Gateron) and he said he expects the turnaround time to be much shorter.

So apparently I already have a Gateron set as does everyone else who has a Pitch black, granted only in dark grey. I received my set of Pitch Black today so I will be able to measure the thickness soon. I did a little earlier and got ~1.4mm-1.45mm but didn't really go and measure that many (just 2 keycaps). Initial impressions was that they are nice and thick(seems equal to Vortex off memory) and smooth. The tightness of the keycap on the switch could be a minor problem though(nothing some grease can't fix).

I will go more into depth with my measurements and comparison soon, and I should be getting the keycaps infiniti sent me soon.

I hope Gateron is willing to make two-tone sets. I'm also hoping for a surprise, maybe an addon that spices things up, but I'm not sure what that would be. Do you usually mark international packages with a lower value so that people can avoid customs? I'd be able to buy more than one set if you do.

Two-tone sets cost more, and with 4 base colours the combinations might get messy and people dont get what they want.

At first glance these have a significantly rougher texture than Cherry PBT,  it's maybe a little rougher than Imsto PBT, the color of the milky white one is a tad more yellow than Cherry PBT, which is in turn warmer than the white Imsto PBT . The grey one seems to match grey Cherry PBTs quite well, it is a tiny bit colder, though. Compared to slighty yellowed Cherry ABS keycaps, the milky white seems to be spot on to mine, but that depends on the yellowing grade. The thickness seems to be the same, accurate measurements will follow.

I'll post a more thorough comparison soon!

Gateron molds in sets of 117, they'll have to take apart another set to add the keys. Not willing.

Maybe you can find someone willing to split up their set and give you a leftover. But, why don't you just buy two single-colored sets for a two-tone?

Wouldn't be an issue with Costar stabs, but I think all 660Ms come with Cherry stabs. I'm pretty sure it will work after some careful trimming of these unnecessary stems...

Hi, would you be able to throw in few extra left shift for FC660M user like me? I know my post count is like non existence but I have  been following GB through VNMK admins few times. From the pictures i think gateron produce the stem to fit as many keyboard as it can and it looks like it will fit fc660m too. therefore the only thing missing is an extra left shift.

I've been looking on confirmation on this as well.

Some people said the spacebar works with the fc660m. Some said the spacebar doesn't work.

One guy told me the spacebar from this kit will only work with the korean version of the fc660m.

I'm still looking for a solid answer.

First of all, I am sorry for using cell phone pictures and not being able to get my hands on a straightedge. I am choosing to provide timely information rather than waiting until I can spend more time the kids are asleep.

On to the question of the space bar fit on the 660M, I may I have bad news. In my particular case the spacebar does not seem to fit, even after trimming the green areas in Infinity's picture. I trimmed these off and it still sticks. I couldn't figure out why at first, because it really looked like the *inside* stems were the problem. After I compared it more carefully with the stock key, I finally noticed the *middle* stab stems are set the tiniest bit too wide.



In this admittedly bad picture, you can see based on the seam in my table (a busy dad's ruler) that the stems are a tiny bit off. This minor mismatch could be a manufacturing defect or it could be that the US version is slightly different than the Korean version. For all I know, it's only that my keyboard is newer or older than the molds used to make these keys (I got mine from Massdrop in September 2014).

Hopefully some of the other testers Infinity sent keys to will add their experiences, too.

Sorry for the late reply! Here is a comparison of my various Cherry Profile keycaps.

I think, the closest match of the off-white/beige Gateron keycaps is to the lasered Cherry PBT, the beige matches quite well with the Cherry Doubleshot and PBT, but the off-white is much more yellow. Gateron beige is also a tad colder than the Cherry Dyesub and Lasered PBT. The light grey of the TA keycaps combines nicely with the Gateron white. The texture of the Gateron keycaps is much rougher than Cherry PBT, but not as rough as the IMSTO PBT. The sides of the Gateron and IMSTO PBT keycaps is also textured, the Cherry Keycaps are all smooth on the sides which I prefer. The Gateron keycaps as well as the TA keycaps are a little bit smaller than the others around the bottom. The typing surface appears to be the same.

Make sure to also take a look at the imgur album, there are a few photos with different perspective and lighting. If you need more pictures, e.g. a direct comparison between two keycaps, just shout!

The gateron F and J keys look identical to Ivan's set so I figured they were all coming from the same place. The spacebar was so tight that it would actually bring up my stabilizers with it!

Yea these are the same thing, Ivans is just a custom color for his Pitch Black. I've noticed the stems on some are fine while some are to tight, going to look into this more sometime soon.

infiniti sent me a sample space bar to test with my Chinese FC660M (best packaging ever, free mentos inside!), and sadly it does NOT fit. The stem placement is a bit off (by like 1 mm), making it impossible to fit without removing the two "merged stems" and glueing it back.
