This design appears more of a needless resource consumption than a balanced design that optimizes both the resources it consumes and the design.
What's the point of any luxury mechanical watch, when a Casio G-Shock will outlast about everything and resist drops, water, extreme temperatures, etc., with absolute precision (since they have atomic / GPS sync), while mechanical watches are much less precise, require maintenance, and will break down if dropped or subjected to magnetic fields..
