Is it really worth having a 3rd base kit?
I would like the JP Mods but Hiragana Sub, so I have to purchase 2 basekits
I would think deciding a JP base kit based on the poll results with JP Mods + Hira/kata that won the poll.
And then offering just a Kata or Hira Alphas kit separately makes more sense (unless the poll is totally one sided)
So people can choose if they want the JP mods or regular mods.
Or even just having a JP mods kit, a Kata Alphas Kit and a Hira Alphas Kit depending on pricing could be an option.
The bases make sense. The thread
did say to remove the Katakana and replace it with Hiragana, which would be Hiragana with JP mods… but I think the poll results ended up with overwhelming preference for Hiragana, and I think we can guess most people wanted it for the R1 configuration because
weebs can’t read Kanji they liked R1.
If the R1 combo is the most popular, it doesn’t make sense doing Hiragana as a child kit. JP is always going to be less popular than Latin mods and Katakana seems less popular than Hiragana for this set, so having them as add-on kits people pay extra for is a hard sell too.
I do like the separate alphas entirely idea, but I understand not wanting to increase kits for logistics reasons. Then again, 3 base kits isn’t so different from 3 alphas kits + 2 mods kits and opens up Katakana + Latin and Hiragana + JP (and the sacrilegious Latin + JP). Could increase Katakana and JP sales, though.
