I'm not exactly sure you would call what we are doing shotting, we are putting colors in our keycaps using a really old glass technique that we have transferred to resin casting allowing us very careful control over colors and details, but still all done in the mold. We aren't really sure how other folks are doing their colors but this is working for us so far. It is very labor intensive and time consuming, but giving great results! No glass in them... Yet... ;)
Thank you everyone!! We are super excited to get these out and get actual feed back on them, we really hope our different techniques will appeal to everyone.
For the witch questions, she will definitely be more of a collector cap than a functional cap, she will be pretty tall. We will be doing some more like her (collectible and less than functional) and some more towards the functional side of life also.

So the good news, apparently, is there are mostly cupcakes in the giveaway, looks like that may be the popular one! I worked out a form that the winners will receive to help guide which key they might receive... So, emails to the winners will come first after the drawing, then I'll post a winners list as I get responses back (since I forgot to ask for ways to publicly identify people on the entry form & I don't want to be throwing email addys out to the public, OOPS!!)

For sure. If I'm totally honest, I like the solid color ones a bit more than the multi-colored ones. But, the more I looked at those, the more I decided they were pretty rad as well. Definitely excited to get it and find a home for it.

Website with remaining keys is up (some from groups A, B and 1 witch). We will be trying to keep some keys on here as we go too, mostly the less expensive single shot styles so we can preserve room in the sales for the fancier ones. I still have some work to do on the site, but it's functional.
In other news, we are working on some glass orders that came in, then we hope to get started with another batch of keycaps with some new designs for a pre-christmas sale (and some more Jagus too!!). Hopefully we will also be able to get some other stems going as well also.

Yeah the tracking number is there and it's only got details from America which sometimes happens when I get an international tracking number, that company may not track it in the destination country.

Yep, I have the tracking and I'm seeing the same thing. I wouldn't worry about it, clearing customs for a week or more is pretty normal. I expect it'll arrive early this week.

I do really like the quality of your designs but I'm not into the random objects like the candy cane and stuff, I think the creatures are way better.
I'm with you there but I think it's just for this, "Christmas" sale whereas the creatures like Jagu could be year round.

Hey, sorry, missed this last night! My top choice for washing it would be an ultrasonic cleaner with water and a few drops of dish soap. If you aren't familiar with the ultrasonics, they are cheap and amazing for cleaning stuff. Otherwise some rubbing alcohol on a q-tip should be fine as well, I use it on many of our keycaps in the final clean up stages and it does fine on them.

Here are some more pics showing some other views and of them on a keyboard to show size and clearances a bit better (imagur link at end): Some of the critters, like the upper left in the main pic (Haven't named this round yet) won't play nice next to other artisans, he'll have to be a loner, but does fine next to other regular keys. We have lots of Jagu's (the purple one) coming back in this round, single color and multi-colors! Our goal is to get everyone hooked up with the keycaps they want, & not make these super rare, except for possibly a few select designs over time. We are aiming for the middle of the month for the sale, we'll narrow it down and post info as we know better, it will depend on weather and glass orders as to how quickly we can finish up production!

No, these are resin! We just come from a glass background and use a modified ancient glass casting technique in our coloring process, but someday we hope to get some glass ones going!

The form doesn't actually get submitted. It says "Looks like you have a question or two that still needs attention." in red at the top, and some of the unselected caps show asterisks with the message "this is a required question", making it impossible to submit just 4 caps while leaving the rest blank :(

How strange, packages made it across the country faster than just up the coast?? I wonder if these rain storms are affecting the trucking going North, I know Hwy 101 washed out a section in Oregon yesterday, but it should have been past there by then and there was a detour if it didn't, and in fact I think the trucks probably cut over to I-5 before then anyhow... But as hard as all of our roads are getting hit down here, I'm sure there are issues all along up to there. If it doesn't show up tomorrow let me know and I'll get on the phone on this one too and see what I can get figured out!!

Yes, we have a range of colors that vary in all aspects, working on a group shot of them now. There will only be 12 in this first release, but we will be doing more later. These will not be LED compatible but it may be a possibility in future batches.
Trizcut - I never thought of the similarity to Salt's work, though as I have met him, attended one of his classes, and we have seen much of his work there could be a subtle influence from there! Lots of dragony stuff going on in the glass world now too :)

So for your next sale will it also be first-come, first served or a raffle?
The plan is to put up all the monsters (repeats of the last sale, but monsters only - not these new ones) and allow those that missed out in the last sale, due to my screw up on the script, first chance at those as they were promised. Then the Eye of the Dragons will be added in and opened for a first come first serve sale (I have not gotten the whole raffle thing figured out yet). We are planning on moving the sale to our website instead of through google forms as we had been doing so there will be a change there. I'm hoping it will streamline stuff for folks so they can get order and check out all at once instead of having to wait for me to do individual invoices.

I do have 1 more topre tester I need to get sent out, but it is just a super plain solid color, nothing exciting. Was supposed to go to someone but I haven't heard back from him. Think I have 2 alps, same bland story, for testing too, but have tested them on a loose switch and they are so simple I'm pretty sure they are fine.I'd test one of those alps ones if you wanted me to ;)

Yes, the pre-sale will just be the repeat creatures from the last sale, the Dragon eyes will be added in when the main sale goes up (won't be a huge gap in time between openings, at most a day but I'd like to keep it shorter, though want everyone in the pre-sale to have ample time to get their orders in), but yes, I am more than happy to combine shipping and work with you as much as possible however I can!
On topre, we got some tester switches in finally, our test key fit nice and snugly but didn't 'click' on to them (though I think I understand that is not a major issue?), so as long as there shouldn't be any clearance issues for the keycap designs (like are the topre keys closer together on their boards or do they have the same spacing as cherry boards?) we should be able to get some molds going for them in the current designs!

Here is a write up we did a few days ago about our coloring, I haven't had a chance to post it yet, so this is as good a time as any!
We use urethane, epoxy and polymer resins tinted with urethane liquid colorants, alcohol inks, powdered pigments, metallic powers and whatever else we can think to try. Using an ancient glass casting technique, that we have modified to resin, we have extremely precise control over locations of each color in the molds which allows us to use many colors in a single piece. The shaded, mottled effect in the 'skin' of the dragon eyes is done using alcohol inks between layers of resin. We are continuously experimenting with new methods and materials in the creation of our keycaps. We have some exciting stuff coming up for our next sale with even more new techniques that we are developing (we hope, that is! We are still in testing phases of them so barring catastrophic failures they will be the next sale).

The pictures on the sale form are only looking straight down on them, you cannot see the bottom color on all of the pics there, so if you need to refer to the preview pics they are in the same order in the side pics as they are in the sale pic so you can figure out what bottom colors are on them. Because of order form errors, multiple people selected the same keycap last sale. Gloyz went around messaging people who couldn't get the keycap they selected due to that error, and these people are the ones who are part of the pre-sale group this time around.

It looks like you got E16, C3 was grabbed shortly before.
I think that choices didn't disappear as they were selected, but as each person hit submit, so if you were still filling out the form and someone else hit submit for the same thing it deleted it from your form as well

The script author for the choice eliminator keeps changing it so it seems to work different each time so I can't pre-plan enough for what it is going to do. Unfortunately envisioning how a raffle for us would go entails a ton more work on our end and thus takes away from more production. I'm threatening to only open the form at totally random times, for random lengths of time, during a specified time period to really make it really random for everybody...

I think yours in in the group to ship tomorrow, then most packages seem to get all over the US in 2 days. We are in California, but way up North in the middle of nowhere so they don't seem to get elsewhere in Cali any faster.

So far I have briefly looked into the major countries that we ship to and tend to find that Art is not subject to as many fees in most of the countries so I usually declare the pieces as "Artisan Keycap Sculptures" with the magic code number as one for small sculptural art , I can't remember the number off the top of my head. For the overall designation, sometimes I mark the other box and write "Art" or sometimes I put commercial sample if I'm in a hurry (from when I ship glass I was advised by some to do them that way, that they found it the best path through customs BUT that was usually just to Canada). I also post the actual value, (or average value of the total keycaps so I don't have to list each separately) on the forms for 2 reasons - if the package disappears and I want to make a case for them to make up the value of the lost package (though not sure if they will if it's not insured) and because I print my labels from paypal, they are electronically linked to the paypal receipt. So I'm sure somehow, someway, if they want to come investigating it would be an easy connection for them to put the actual value to the packages and I can't afford huge fines and such!! To mail packages with a hand written customs form somehow jumps the shipping cost up to over $13/ package (I do it now for just under $4), so that isn't a great solution either.
Now, that all being said, I'm more than willing to start a chart that tells me the best way to declare packages for each country, so that they are truthful, but subject to the least amount of fees & taxes for you guys, or what else can you suggest?

We now have successful molds for: Topre & Alps stems, and covers for Buckling spring and Hi-Tek keycaps. Now, the question is - what do you want on them? We now have successful molds for: Topre & Alps stems, and covers for Buckling spring and Hi-Tek keycaps. Now, the question is - what do you want on them? I like the Dragon Eye most, but I can't help get this feeling of phallicism whenever I look at it. Maybe a variation? :))

Mine was the same - M8 Dragon Eye. Luckily for me, Gloyz very kindly agreed to my idea of letting the cap be returned to them after the 21 days, and then making it "customs friendly" and sending it back. Personally, I hate long threads that become a wall of TL;DR and prefer a larger number of shorter, more descriptive threads for distinct topics.

Just a random abstract design... Looks kinda like a face to me though. This is just a small selection of the abstract ones we are working on, most individual patterns will be a very limited number, or 1 of a kind design. We have some other things going as well, keeping in the flat topped functional style key. I'll try and get some pics in the next few days of one of the other styles we are working on.

Good news, I have heard from the number 1 pick in the giveaway and have them ready to ship so winners should be hearing from me tomorrow with shipping info.
Bad news, we are delaying the sale by a few days, we have been working like crazy but got a bit overloaded, so we just need a few more days to put the final touches on these pieces. New sale date will be Friday, 10/23/15 starting at 3:00PM Pacific Time.
Good news - Here is a preview pic of what's to come! These are all colored in the mold, not painted. We use a modified technique taken from a very old glass casting process so we are able to get a wide variety of colors in our caps. Some of the caps (the witches and ghosts) are quite dysfunctional, and aimed to be mostly collector pieces. Hope you all like them!!

No, they are not topped in resin, the glitter is right on top to better reflect the light, so have a rough texture. The glitter is set in well to the underlying layer though so should hold up to reasonable use as long as things aren't drug across the surface of them too much.

We will def. be doing more of this style, but as for each exact image... Depends on if I feel like repeating it when I happen to be working on them, some are from templates so colors and such will vary if I do repeat them. Some are totally freehand so would never be exactly duplicated, even if I tried...
