RoastPotatoes Posters: Topre & HHKB Available
« on: Tue, 17 November 2015, 07:09:31 »

RoastPotatoes Posters:
I would like to start my poster selling with this Topre poster. I wanted to keep these semi limited but I don't expect to sell out. So I have 50 and I got a bit of interest all over.  These will be shipped in tubes so they are small parcels according to royal mail. If your poster gets destroyed in the mail I will do my best to send replacement.

If you are looking for a HHKB poster as well, please feel free to wait a little so postage can be combined. I just want to make final touches to the HHKB.

It's 300gsm paper. I wanted something quite hefty.

Price:
  • Single £8.50
  • Both £15
Postage:
  • Europe £3.95
  • US £5.00
  • Tracked:
  • £9.75 International UK £7.25 (probably not worth it)
Order Form
More

So I was really inspired by hydrospell's screen printing. Sadly these are not screen printed. But I would hopefully like to do one of those in the future. I currently have two designs that I have made myself.
I'm good to go with the Topre design but I am still playing around with my HHKB one. The main contention is the angle and orientation of the HHKB. I have also been thinking about an SSK or a kishsaver. I am a huge fan of grey and keyboards that make use of it. But my end goal is to create something that looks nice on your wall. The poster that inspired me was this old hhkb poster. I contacted Topre to see if they still had any copies but they did not :(
Topre:

HHKB:

I bought some tubes so I will post them in those. Postage is the key concern as they are obviously fragile. Using tubes does mean they are parcel territory so they do cost a little more to post.

I'm interested in both! I would prefer a frameable size as well, but I can get pretty crafty if the situation calls for it.

Edit: I could see that if you did a bunch of the keyboard designs you mentioned (SSK, Kishsaver, etc) in similar color patterns - like the grey/black of the HHKB one, it could make for a interesting wall display. Kind of like how people arrange Patent prints or something.

16x20 inches
18x24
24x36

Common frame sizes you can often find for dirt cheap for "posters". Places like Michael's in US often have quality ones (think better than dorm room frame) for 50% off, too.
My wife I a also push her button . But now she have her button push by a different men. So I buy a keyboard a mechanicale, she a reliable like a Fiat.

A3 which I think is closer to  16x20. I was not quite aware of paper size differences throughout the world.

If mounted it is close to 16x20. In inches A3 is 11.69 x 16.53 inches, mounted it is  15.98 x 20 inches. At least that is what Google tells me. inanis is not good at the maths.

Assuming my googling is correct, getting a mat is easy enough and should be pretty cheap. It also makes something look 1000% better in a frame.

One suggestion, the part in HHKB where the H meets the K is wrong in your image.  If you are going for the true logo, it overlaps the K slightly.

On this note, if you do go in and change it, it looks like the right parts of the K in the poster should be angled a bit sharper.

I want a Buckling Spring poster in a similar style to the HHKB poster.  Maybe with a bit more of an old school vibe, but I also think it would be fun in a modern clean line look like what you did with the HHKB.  Its old school and still awesome (and functional).  I bet you would have a market for it.  :P

I will create some variants and see what happens. The overlap was a conscious decision as I didn't really like how it looked.
I will have a look at the k as well it might have got skewed slightly in the alignment and sizing.

One other thing, I would recommend mailing these in the triangle poster tubes. The cylindrical ones have a habit of crushing very easily.

The first is with the HHKB logo more faithful I don't really mind either way.
The second is with the k adjusted to be steeper.
The third is with the B adjusted ontop of all the changes to.
The fourth is where I realised what I was doing and the correct relative widths for the B.

I also think I have 50 good prints of the Topre poster in A3. The main issue is getting a size that is easily frameable. Posting these is also another worry. I have tubes ready to go but I'm not sure if it would be better with the toblerones.

I am in the UK but I will happily ship into CONUS and outside no problem.

Progress has been made on a kishsaver one but I'm not entirely sure which direction I will end up going. Once I become more confident in what I am doing with it, it will be shared. Through creating the kish I was thinking I could possibly incorporate the rest of the 4704 family in some way so this may alter the direction.
