As for the kits:
- [Base] R4 1.5u Caps Lock, R3 1u Hack and (to a slightly lesser extent) R3 1.75u stepped Control seem unnecessary. Especially the Caps Lock — I've never seen that anywhere outside of this and the Analog Dreams IC.
- [Base] In place of those unnecessary keys, you could add a barred homing numpad 5 or a numpad 00.
- [Extra Straws] The 2u spacebars that are required for Alice are missing; you have 1.75u spacebars instead, which I don't think are useful for anything. Replace them with 2u.
- [Extra Toppings] Imo, it'd make more sense to put the alpha 6u spacebar in the Extra Straws kit.
- Consider Num instead of Num↲Lock and Caps instead of Caps↲Lock on the stepped Caps for a uniform, one-line look across the whole set. Scroll is already one-line.
- This is down to preference, but I'd suggest using Super instead of Code. There are a few objective benefits to this, which I can list if you'd like.

Awesome. I've been trying to get a Taro set for a reasonable price for a long time. Good to see it coming back as a GB.

The R4 1.5u Caps Lock is a personal inclusion, when I was using a full tsangan bottom row while control-swapping, having 2 left-hand Control keys drove me nuts. The natural thing for me to do was just swap em. Homing numpad 5 should be in there, that's an oversight on my part.
I'll look at the split kit, as far as the 6u goes, you can argue either way where it should go imo.
Good note on the hard returns for caps/num lock, I'll def look at that.

Gonna be a no on icon mods, sorry. For me, doing icon mods with a text bottom row just feels "off", while full icon just leaves something to be desired with the current mods available, and doing a new set of mods is above my knowhow.

Definitely heard on the single line consistency, I'll have to play with the numpad, that's an interesting suggestion for sure!
6 months wait time..
Yeah, it's definitely earlier to announce than is traditional, but with the way the aftermarket has been, I really wanted to make it known that this is in the works, plus this way it gives us plenty of time to get the kits as good as they can be.

That's a super weird layout, but hey, it's your set! ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I do have a suggestion that would make that key a bit more versatile, though: How about replacing the 1.5u Caps Lock with two 1.5u Super keys? That way you'd kill two birds with one stone: you'd cover Tsangan/HHKB for Mac users (where the Alt and Command/Super are swapped) and you'd have a key with a generic legend for your bottom row Caps Lock needs!
To elaborate a bit further on why I think the R3 Hack should be removed: not counting 40%/50%/ortho layouts (which the base kit doesn't cover anyway), it's only directly useful on one single keyboard: the Uniqey C70. Its usefulness on 65% is very limited — not enough to warrant including it in the base kit, imo.

I miss the novelties though. I think it's an element that makes Taro very unique and very recognizable. I hope you'll still consider adding them.

Really hope no R0/R5... I really hate how they look, and R0 is so god damn uncomfortable to type on.
May I know what conditions would necessitate typing on R0? Surely pressing Function keys would likely be one-off typing events, for use during gaming or application specific use-cases.
Aesthetically, I find R0/R5 to be very nice, especially for compact 75% layouts like the Singa, Xeno and [IC] Dawn.

I like the ergo kit with blanks a lot here… this satisfies so many more board scenarios and looks better, at least with GMK.
Couple requests for Ergo/Ortho/40:
• Additional (1) R3 1.25 (2 total) for Dimple, UT47/Gnap!, and another board I'm forgetting the name of…
• Additional (1) R4 1.75 (2 total) for Dimple (and probably others)… seems like too many R4 1.5 keys maybe?

Ah, yes, that is true… that's such a nice layout BTW, might need another Boardwalk for that layout… and it's looking like this is the set that can handle it!
Speaking of the Boardwalk, there are other layouts that use (2) 2u spacebars (which my board uses), right now we only get one of each color, which would look unbalanced. Would it be possible to get 2 that match?, either color is fine.
Still would love the other keys mentioned earlier if possible… these kits are challenging, but really liking where this one is heading.

After seeing the 40s/Ergo renders, I'd like to see legends on the mods except for the Ergo/Boardwalk 1.5u mods. The Sebright esp. looks weird with all the blanks and the staggered profile, but perhaps that's just me.
I know I'm a bit of a homer, but I am such a huge fan of blank mods. I already love Taro, and I think, similar to SA Leviathan, that blank mods are a cool look.
Really, the main factor for me is price. Blank kits like this give a quality option for smaller "underserved" board sizes the opportunity to be covered without us having to sell a kidney. I'm never happy with the legends provided as my layout is just weird in general, so having blanks is the best possible compromise between cost and coverage.

The legends are the non-traditional type, legend agnostic, so you don't have to worry about mis-matched legends. Look at Carbon and Calm Depths assembly. The problem there is, I think this set has a fairly clear theme. One which, personally, I don't think the 'git' legends really cohere with.
Were I able to think of on-theme novelty text legends, I might consider it, but that brings it back to the pricing concern with funding so many new molds.

Just noticed that the Boba Alphas have a 2nd 'B' keycap for Alice-style keyboards, but the Base Set does not. Wouldn't it make sense for the 2nd 'B' keycap to be available in the purple alpha color as well? That what I would be thinking of using this keyset for.Hmm good point, my thinking was Alice users are gonna pick up the split spacebars anyway, but not every Alice user cares about the Boba Alphas.

So it'd just be 1 more 1u alt, and the 2 1.5u Super keys, since I do have the single 1u alt, but similar to the above response, it's just gonna depend on where the pricing stands as it's already a fairly hefty base kit.
My initial thought is that perhaps if we hit an MOQ mark where adding keys is doable, we can add the above keys.

Unsure on alpha spaces outside 40s kit, my observation gave the impression this is how things were going lately.
I think the extra tab makes enough sense in boba alphas, as providing more compatibility seems more likely to be used than someone wanting to use 2 sets of mods.

Kits are final, sorry.
For the pipe, there's already the 2 in base, and 1 in boba alphas.
The main reason for the one in boba is if you want to do boba alphas + milk tea mods and skip base altogether, unfortunately you lose a little flexibility that way.
As far as 1.5u, if I did 1 set of 1.5u caps, I personally don't like the imbalance of just 1 set of novelties, so I would feel compelled to add a second set of 1.5u, so I just opted to skip them altogether for pricing's sake.
