ne short backspace change avail?

Probably not, I'd need some fairly major convincing.

In other news, got a few things in the works to make this set even more exciting, hopefully I'll have more news soon.  ;)

I respect this move. Unlike other people who are very secretive about r2’s and letting their sets go for crazy prices. Thanks!

Agreed! Let's all get excited about how awesome Taro R2 is going to be with all of its dope addon kits, and talk about our favorite way to eat jeans.

Base should be a bit cheaper due to removal of some keys, other kits I can't really say yet.

I hope that ortho/ergo/40s kit is cheap enough that I can buy multiple, the compatibility it offers is insane (blank mods gang rise up).

My goal is that it'll be better than the typical base+40s route.

Glad to hear more support for blanks though!

Please leave them blank :) Although I won't say no to an 1.5u novelty. This set will look fresh in a Boardwalk.

Just noticed that the Boba Alphas have a 2nd 'B' keycap for Alice-style keyboards, but the Base Set does not.  Wouldn't it make sense for the 2nd 'B' keycap to be available in the purple alpha color as well?  That what I would be thinking of using this keyset for.

Hmm good point, my thinking was Alice users are gonna pick up the split spacebars anyway, but not every Alice user cares about the Boba Alphas.

But I'll evaluate this for sure, whether to move light b to base or the dark b to split bars as well.

Numpad is missing an R1 equals.

A what? What's the usecase for that one?

More details here:
https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=103686.0

The basic gist is this: if a Numpad replaces its 2u plus key with R3/R2 plus/minus, then that means that the R1 minus key originally in the numpad kit is now redundant.  This is often replaced by a standalone equals key.

It's fairly standard for Mac-oriented numpads, and it's handy to have for PC numpads that have an additional row of keys in the F-row (where an equals sign is often found as well).

Would you consider adding two 1.5u Code and two 1u Alt keys to the base for tsangan compat for mac users. similar to that of GMK minimal?

I've always put Pause there since it's the 1800 standard, but an equals key is nice if you have a fullsize or standalone numpad I guess

While not all of the below examples are mechanicals, they are provided to show that a standalone equals in either Row 1 or Row 0 is commonplace.

Standard Mac Full-Size Keyboard (modern)

Apple Standard Keyboard (1987)

Microsoft Ergonomic Keyboard

Standalone Numpads

Very interesting, I appreciate all the info. I'm not 100% sure if I'll be able to include it out the gate, but I'll keep it in mind when we get around to pricing the kits!

(Attachment Link)

So it'd just be 1 more 1u alt, and the 2 1.5u Super keys, since I do have the single 1u alt, but similar to the above response, it's just gonna depend on where the pricing stands as it's already a fairly hefty base kit.

My initial thought is that perhaps if we hit an MOQ mark where adding keys is doable, we can add the above keys.

I second what Starston3 asked for.  Anybody who lays out their boards with the gui key next the spacebar would benefit from this.  Can't wait for this set, thanks pwade

+1 (although, it's not everyone who puts GUI next to spacebar, it's everyone who does that and has tsangan bottom row - still a lot I would think)

And I agree 100% that git mods would look off on this set.

Yeah, I don't plan to just restrict to just Base kit buyers or anything like that, just because of fine folks like yourself.

Maybe if the pricing isn't as good as I'm hoping for, but my ideal scenario is that the current kit will be more affordable than the traditional base+40s purchase that those users usually have to do.

I'd still prefer to pay more to have a separate 40s kit and buy the regular base, if that 40s kit has legends and not blanks, if it has usual good coverage (i.e. something like Mizu's).

I appreciate keeping costs down, but I am of the same mind. I would be willing to pay more via separate kits if it meant the inclusion of legends on the 40s.

I would also agree on this statement, and would definitely want to pay a bit extra for a separate 40s kit with proper legends on them.

Yep, which is why no subs.

Additionally, with where things are at, there are already a bunch of kits, 2 alpha sets is simply too much in my opinion.

I finally got back my R1 set from my GF, she had "borrowed" it like... forever ago lol.
I think we're a 2-Taro household. Bring on the round 2!

Also: I would definitely buy a dedicated 40's kit with proper legends.
