Both would be very much appreciated. I don't dislike the xbox as much as some people do, I think it's pretty cool, but for a classic set like this I'd personally appreciate the ability to be able to use the "standard" arrow if I want to. Hopefully that won't mess with the price too much, probably wouldn't.

I couldn't find this info anywhere in the OP or the rest of the thread. Please confirm this, as those existing JTK molds are a deal-breaker for myself and other people who care about having correct (= not horribly disfigured) Cyrillic legends.


A few additional things:

• Ё sublegends will need to go in the bottom-right corner instead of top-right. Similarly, / sublegends will need to go in the top-right corner.
• See here for an explanation.
• Examples of sets that get this right: EPBT 6085, IFK Dark Cyrillic, GMK Cyrillic Beige Add-On, this OG Cherry dyesub set (fixes Ё, but still gets / wrong).


• Like in JTK Tripleshot Griseann/RA, the ISO-UK alpha keys are missing the appropriate sublegends. You will effectively end up having (quite noticeable) “holes” in the sublegends by not including these.
• Solution: either add the missing sublegends to the appropriate keys, or replace ISO-UK keys with basic 4-key ISO support.
• The latter approach makes more sense, imo. It means that less tripleshot molds need to be created. Also, people that use ISO-UK keys only make up around 2.58% of users in the community, which is quite a small minority.

This is correct. 1.25u is used for standard split 6.25u space and Alice spaces. 1u is used for Alice spaces and orthos. 1.75u is only used by a few staggered 40% boards.

1) This will be using the JTK Cyrillic molds (love em or hate em, they're there). (Thank you for bringing this up)
2) There are some slight errors in renders that'll be fixed (My fault!)
3) I will look into the whole ISO support thing (I am not from there, nor do I use ISO so I'm kind of a dumby)
4) I will look into improving the spacebar kit

I think I do agree with Wholy on this, the red "Gr" is not my favorite, an all black Alt Gr would be nice to have.

A set like this calls for Alt Gr and I totally understand why some people would prefer to have either regular Alt or an all black Alt Gr. In it's current form it is a bit jarring but I thought I'd offer it since this mold is going to be made with JTK Griseann/RA.

It's a mixed bag. Sorta like the HHKB backspace being an xbox or a regular backspace.

For users of Control in the Caps lock location I would have liked a couple of R4 1.5u Super keys to be added in addition to keeping the R4 Caps lock key. I would use both, depending on layout.

On a WKL I map the leftmost 1.5u key to Windows key (Super), and on a WK layout I map the leftmost 1.5u key to caps lock (and then the normal 1u winkey/super next to it). Without these two options I would just use the normal Caps lock and Control keycaps and map them the other way around, which is fine.

The R4 Caps lock key is only useful to me on a WK layout. On a WKL I would need one or two 1.5u Super keys to have correct legends to my mapping.
I'm looking at other sets and a pair of 1.5u Super/code/meta keys are common with a R3 Control key.

I'm gonna pushback and see if we can get them made because "classic retro" won't be that without some cherry keys.
Same applies for windowed keys, since that's a fundamental part of the "classic retro" feel.

If I can get them made, they'll be a part of a novelties set, separate from the base kit.

Progress is slow since I haven't had a chance to post over on Reddit to garner further feedback. On top of that, since this set is a few months out, it doesn't require too much work.

I do plan on removing that R4 caps lock. Kitting is looking pretty solid.

Also, confirmed zF as Asia vendor. See y'all in a few weeks or whenever i have something constructive to add.

This is by all measures a very non-standard key. Are you asking this because you're a Mac user? Custom keycap sets are seldom based on Mac-specific layouts, and so far I haven't seen any sets include R1 §± and R4 `~.

As for the Ё legend, yes it should be in the bottom right corner, but unfortunately JTK's molds are the way they are. So until another set comes along and fixes the issues, we'll have to live with them.

Yes this is ISO related, specifically 60%/65% ISO.
On 60% &65% keyboard R1:Tilde/GraveAccent/Ё is replaced by ESC - Tilde/GraveAccent/Ё is accessible through FN layer in such case.
Try swapping (remapping) R1:Tilde/GraveAccent with any english letter on 60% or 65% keyboard and then try typing for a week - accessing normal letter through FN layer is annoying.
This is also applicable to other layouts (for example R1:Tilde/GraveAccent/ذ on arabic-PC layout).
ISO provides possible solution by adding space for one more key, specifically R3 next to the ENTER key & R4 next to the 1.25U RIGHT SHIFT key while loosing 1.5U:R2:Pipe/Backslash above ANSI ENTER.
It seems that in my original request I've made a mistake (or something has changed in the keyset since then?), my request should be:
- R3:Tilde/GraveAccent/Ё (R4:Pipe/Backslash is currently present)
OR
- R4:Tilde/GraveAccent/Ё & R3:Pipe/Backslash
Since second case requires adding two keys to your keyset, let's stick to the first one.
In both cases Ё should be in the bottom right corner.
This also brings Tilde & GraveAccents back from exile.
Basically I'm talking about translating US-ANSI into physical ISO.

No it wasn't about MAC layout since it would require Pipe/Backslash/Ё (R3 for ISO & 1.5U:R2 for ANSI) and some further modifications in number row.
R4 was a mistake, it should be R3:Tilde/GraveAccent/Ё.
BTW: You have guessed corretly I'm also MAC user but I'm using russian-PC layout on MAC so let's stick to the simplest case which requires adding only one key.

Reason for doing so are that new molds are kind of expensive, once the cost trickles down to consumers it'll increase base kit prices by too much.

I think non-stepped is more important. I've personally never used stepped control and I think it's more meant for people who already have a stepped caps lock and want to swap it with control.

I agree with the decision to keep Alt Gr triple shot but would like the barred homing keys to be triple shot as well.

New mold, not many people use it.
Extra B means they would have to do an entire run of alphas to get the Bs. (JTK doesn't make 1 key at a time, rather an entire set.)

I need your help.

I want the community input in deciding what molds get made and where this set goes.

When I run sets, I want to offer compatibility that covers a wide variety of boards (including you ISO homies) and use cases. What threw me for a loop was the lack of barred tripleshot F and J, 2 keys I find to be useful and quite integral for many people. I don't want to ramble on, but I will say that I have thought about shelfing this set entirely because it wouldn't feel good running something that is missing certain tripleshot keys that are important for certain users.

For the time being, this set will not launch in March since I want to put greater effort into this. I would hate to just push this out the door with what compatibility is required. I would also hate having to raise the cost of the set because I want all the molds made. We have to find a happy medium.

Kitting looks quite nice i just wish alice spacebars would be in base kit while spacebars kit could have spacebars for very 'unique' layouts such as 6u, forties, maybe accented and so on, since I would say alice is becoming mainstream unlike 40% and 6u. After that you just need some more exposure and this should be very saught after for everybody who wants to try tripleshot.

I like variety, but i also wish that 6u would become old og set kind of thing like xbox backspace is and it would be nice if we look at it more as novelty rather than standart key.

In theory this sounds like a good ideal; however, it would come with some stipulations from JTK (my guess).

Both sets would have to run concurrently and there might be a higher MOQ requirement. Regardless, this would be a step in the right direction as I would love to have these molds made.

I will talk it over with myself and vendors to determine best course of action, but again, this isn't a high priority item for me currently. Also I've been in a bit of a rut so please bare with me.
