If I understand correctly, this is all custom GMK colors? I'm asking because I would like to mix and match with other sets that I have like Dolch and classic beige but that doesn't look like it will work.
Only the Hagoromo Alphas have CP from the GMK standard colors as their base color. Everything else is custom, yes.

I'm in. While 85 bucks for the International Kit is a bit on the expensive side its really amazing that there are still keycap-designers thath think of us central european minorities (:
Hope drop keeps us updated on the ordercount so that I can add a few International kits to my card if need be.
It's not so much that we forget about EU, but rather that we don't see a point in carrying a kit that has such a small audience for group buys that already have a small audience themselves. I only added NorDeUK to this round of Oblivion because of the high overall demand, so having it hit 50 units is realistic. But take SA Arcane for example, that sold 3 ISO-UK kits in EU. I wish it was different, that there was a much larger EU crowd that wanted NorDe(UK) kits, but as it currently stands, it only makes sense to offer it in high profile group buys such as this one. I won't be offering that kit for the foreseeable future when I run sets outside of (Mass)Drop.

There are no proxies, sorry. Personally I've never had an issue with a (Mass)drop order. I paid VAT on import and a small handling fee to DHL and it gets dropped off at my door (Germany).

That's not quite right. The Git modifiers will only be bundled in the base kit.

Git and Regular mod base kits are just about 50/50, with monochrome and assembly at just a quarter of those numbers. I'm not surprised at assembly, but I am a little surprised at monochrome being lowish. It makes sense, though, considering similar keysets like modern dolch, dolch, gmk monochrome, honeywell etc.

Considering Serika and Olivia have been all but confirmed for r2, those sets might have already achieved their max flip potential. Quite possibly all downhill from here.

That's what always makes me concerned about using PayPal with massdrop. You order at the current drop points, but what if there's a mismatch between that and the final drop prices by the time the group buy ends? Reading through the warning about PayPal, it looks like it's only an issue if you want to add more to the same order? In any case, I'll check again near the end of the buy and adjust my payment method if necessary.
Probably best not to use Paypal for those reasons, but if that's some folks only option, I can understand.

I am from Belgium and last time I ordered a keycap set from (Mass)Drop I had to pay VAT, import fees and handling fees ending up paying double for the set - whatever passes the 120 euros value is subject to import fees and unless it's coming from Aliexpress nobody is willing to declare a lower value on the package - the state makes and wastes enough money off our backs to also pick on keycap sets!
Would it be possible for you to partner with Candykeys - https://candykeys.com/group-buys. He's also based in Germany, in Munchen I think?
I would definitely buy, I want to buy the kit but not through Mass(Drop). It's a bit sideways - you are based in Germany, GMK is based in Germany, many of us wanting this are based in Europe and we have to order through an American website paying fees, taxes and waiting for the kits to traverse the ocean twice to get them!

This might be the wrong place to ask... but, would you ever consider running a mod kit same color as the alphas? I'm going to end up with a couple orphan sets of the alphas in this colorway between this and space cadet. I think a grey monochrome set would be nice (I know the legends are different colors between the two sets).
Someone could probably ask for permission from Oblotzky to run something like that in the future, as it's obviously too late now. The only question is if there's enough demand for it to hit moq. Given the saturation of gmk group buys and the failure of even popular sets like Carbon to reach moq on all kits, I think the likelihood is slim.

Already 10$ off for Hagoromo Alphas, and the Git and Regular Base Kits are getting 20$ and 15$ shaved off next week when they hit 500 units. Not that bad IMO. Some vendors don't do price breaks at all due to complexity/fees of partial refunds.
Out of curiosity, why aren’t there price drops for kits that hit 750 or 1000?

This would be my first GB over drop (as the set, especially git is superb :thumb:) - so there is no way to get this sent from GMK instead of shipping it from germany to the us and back ? ... which would be ... just sensless and ridiculous :(
The set would need to be sold through a EU vendor or be shipped from within EU by Drop itself after they collected VAT. GMK couldn't just send it to you as no VAT would have been collected on that item. The shipping from EU part is being developed currently by Drop, they've opened a EU warehouse (or probably contracted a logistics company rather) from which they are starting to ship single SKU products. It remains to be seen if this will be expanded towards more complex drops where sorting orders is required.

I am very well aware of the fact that Europeans prefer their items to be shipped from within Europe, I don't need to see a poll to know that. Drop is the sole vendor for this item and this won't change for this round. There were advantages and disadvantages when chosing them as a vendor. On the upside: they have an incredible reach which allowed me to expand the set into the 13 kits you see for it now, and overall better pricing. Most other vendors don't offer price breaks, they have a fixed price and you'll pay it regardless of the set reaching 250 or 1000 units. So once the drop concludes, it will be cheaper than it would have been on any other platform. The downside: EU buyers have to deal with customs. The sad truth: advantages outweighed disadvantages.

The Regular Base Kit costs 120$ at 500 units on Drop (which is 106 EUR exclusive of VAT), Candykeys charged 132EUR for GMK Mizu base kit after hitting 500+ units which is about 111 EUR exclusive of VAT. Plus Drop has more expenses, having to ship the entire order via air freight to the states and have it processed by customs while Candykeys has the palette dropped off at their doorsteps in 2 days max.
And the "200+ price tag" - well you will get the same at other vendors if you keep adding child kits...

MD makes this things expensive because they add their own expenses (which ofc is absolutely fair, they are no wellfare). A regular Base Kit means nothing if you are going ISO-EU - you have to wait for the few rare GBS with full ISO-EU support (NORDEUK - and boy, do I love you for adding it here, srsly!) and then you have to pay extra for keys you never want. Regular has Code because it feels more modern, and plays with the theme. The Monochrome kit mimics classic/vintage sets with its colorway, hence Super (more common back then). Meta because it's not as specific so more different functionality fits.

Not quite, the legend color of V2 is matched to GAL from Signature Plastics as it was used for SA Oblivion. I can't really say for sure yet how much of a difference that will be visually, but it might be noticeable. Probably one of those 'once you see it' type of things.

Correct, by next round I mean that if Oblivion returns (which it eventually will in like 2 years or so) the Rama cap will most likely return as well.

Correct, the set will be produced with existing Cherry tooling for european layouts, they'll fit perfectly.

Yeah. That appears to be a toss up among Planck and Preonic users - whether to have alpha colored spacebar or mod colored.

Yes ofc, when you initially order, you don't pay right away anyways, you only authorize your payment service to later charge the final (lowest it reached) price. If this wouldn't be the case, nobody would order on day 1.
I was not expecting the surge of orders in these last 24 hours. Wowzers!
zFrontier placed a big proxy order of 200+ Git Base Kits, so that had a big surge on the numbers. It didn't actually sell so many more kits in this short of a time, those are accumulated orders over the past 3 weeks that only now got added. But still, even without that it was an impressive rise. I think my 1/3 rule fits the bill.
Assembly Base Kit hit 250+ orders as well and now down to 115$! Did not expect breaking so many price points on the last day.

Yeah, definitely lower than April Fools suggested as well. I would guess it's due to price difference, in the April Fools GB all kits had the same price, but in the real drop the Git and Regular Base Kits were 15-20$ cheaper.

Yeah, I asked but it was too late for that too. But seeing how affordable all the Base Kits got and even with 500 unit pricing Hagoromo Alphas were good value, I think the 5$ discount we didn't get is not the end of the world.

Great run, surprised to see monochrome sold so few compared to git & regular. (319, 1179 and 1668)
Uuuuuuhhh... humour this ignorant buffoon for a minute. What is the average number of base kits sold in a normal GB nowadays? Would some, any, GB for GMK NAMEGOESHERE be considered a success if it sold 319 base kits (besides the optional stuff)?
A lot of the time, reaching the MOQ of 150 or 250 is considered "good". Sets that sell more than 500 base kits seem to be labelled as "successful". With this taken into account, the monochrome kit did pretty well by itself. It's only when taken relative to the git and regular base kits does it seem lackluster.
Disclaimer: I'm not basing this on any hard data, but rather from what I've seen across a number of keycap gb's.

yeah didnt have the cash for an extra base kit and a hagoromo alpha kit so hopefully wont pay too much of a premium on r/mm in october.Might be able to get it reasonably priced in a Massdrop Recap event. They would be silly not to buy extra sets given how popular of a colourway this has proven to be.
Anyone want to sell me some of your extra Row 4 1.5u mods out of the Git Base Kit? I'm not picky on which ones. Bonus points if you're in Canada already.

Congrats on the drop- this is such a good kit! My first GB cap set and really looking forward to October. I have HPs waiting to be built to go into a new build for these. Now I just need to figure out PCB/kit I'm gonna be able to get before October, which obviously means I'll probably need to go resell. Who wants to sell me a heavily discounted Fjell for absolutely no reason. :D (Grey only plz- it is my birthday present I'm allowed to be picky)

Here's my understanding: Signature Plastics made the first round of Oblivion (SA profile), and GMK made the second and third rounds. The first round was 100% SP's standard colors. GMK V1 switched two colors to GMK standards, matching SP colors for the rest. For GMK V2, one of those was switched back to SP's.

Yep most likely from Drop's warehouse in NJ. Although that don't mean much, I've watched a package Drop shipped to me (I live in PA so you know) go from NJ, to TN, then up through OH (if I'm remembering the states it went through correctly), before it even made it into a PA PO!? Some of the most inefficient & convoluted shipping I've ever seen. >:D

I have tracking for my QC units from GMK, and I was told that the main shipment is also underway to Drop. Someone in their comments said he got a reply from support saying it would start shipping on the 28th. It's done though, that's for sure!

today I am bringing you an update regarding GMK Oblivion V2 that ran on Drop.com this Summer. GMK has finished production and sent me a couple units for quality control. In terms of colors, everything came out great. The set looks as you'd expect from seeing the renders and the previous round of it. However I quickly noticed that on some of the new Git keys, the text legends were not quite in line with the rest as they have a higher margin towards the edge of the key. I took this discovery to GMK, and after some discussion with Drop we are now working on a fix for the affected sets. This means that all kits except the Git Base Kit are currently en route to Drop's warehouse in New Jersey, while the Git Base Kits remain in Germany for about two more weeks. All orders that did not include a Git Base Kit can therefor be fulfilled upon arrival, while the remaining orders will have to wait a bit more. Below you will see the keys that I have requested to be replaced:

I know that this delay is not ideal, and some Christmas gifts will not make it in time, however you paid for a premium product, and we want to make sure that you will receive one in the end.

Oh okay, I was just wondering if there had been an update from the Drop's operations team as to whether the non-git sets would be shipping as planned with the Hello World key being shipped out at a later date, or whether the kits would only be shipped out together with the fixed Hello World keys. I think the most recent update on this was this one below, was just wondering if there had been an update on that front - they previously said it was 'pending a decision from the operations team'.

The regular base kit will include the misaligned "Hello, World!" key. The replacement key for that will be shipped out to everyone when they are completed in January. So yes, technically, all regular base kit purchasers will get a free, misaligned "Hello, World!" key.

The set would need to be sold through a EU vendor or be shipped from within EU by Drop itself after they collected VAT. GMK couldn't just send it to you as no VAT would have been collected on that item. The shipping from EU part is being developed currently by Drop, they've opened a EU warehouse (or probably contracted a logistics company rather) from which they are starting to ship single SKU products. It remains to be seen if this will be expanded towards more complex drops where sorting orders is required.

Yes, the Git Base Kits and the Git Fix Kits (excludes the "Hello, World!" key) are shipping out from GMK to our warehouse in New Jersey.

You are misunderstanding my stance. I don't think we are entitled to them either, but that it is just good business to do something to apologize to customers for delays. Also this is something Drop would always do in the past in a situation like this, so it's not unprecedented. Anyways they can do as they please, I just think it's a hugely bad look for them to say "eh 2 months late, no big deal, no need to placate customers".

How many other vendors give you a voucher when delays occur? We used to give out vouchers and people would still complain. All it did was create a learned behavior without a notable upside: customers expect vouchers for delays and still criticize (Mass)Drop. It's a group buy. Delays happen. If we add too much buffer for fulfillment, people complain about the ship date being so far off without the consideration that we could fulfill early. This also has the added effect of scaring off potential participants because they don't want to wait X months. If we estimate more realistically, even a small hiccup can sometimes derail the timeline. People then complain about the delay. You're right, it didn't. The initial delay was due to the sheer size of the order. GMK was at capacity and could not fulfill based on the original timeline. Nobody anticipated how well Oblivion would sell. Unfortunate, but not the worst problem to have. GMK is working to increase production capacity, so hopefully this is less of an issue going forward.Got mine! Set looks great. I'm obviously not a fan of Drop & am not gonna pretend I am, but with a lot of keycap sets being ran exclusively through them I do buy certain items from that I won't be able to get elsewhere. So it would definitely make me feel better about making future purchase through them if they made some attempt to apologize for the fact the set was two months late for everyone & still counting for us GIT base buyers.
Really this isn't even about a voucher, cause TBH as little as I buy through Drop mine would expire before I get to use it (I only buy MKB related items that are exclusive to Drop through them). It's more about the lack of communication & lack of care the seem to show for their customers. Do you think it is a coincidence Eksuen is saying no matter what they do customers complain? I mean considering Oblivion sold way more than they ever expected, you'd think they would've said right at the end of the Drop the timeline will most likely be extended due to the overwhelming amounts of orders. Also this is not an isolated incident, Drop has a pretty long history of long delays, shipping issues (look to the SA Godspeed GB for a shining example of this), lost orders, ect.
Anyways all that said, all I really want at this point is my order from this GB without any more headaches from it.

Look at it from the flip side. You're certainly not a fence-sitter, as you've already stated you're not a fan. You buy from us begrudgingly because we have exclusive offerings, which, at the end of the day, you can be certain you will receive or your money back (so there's minimal risk of losing your money). Voucher or no voucher, delay or no delay, is any of that really going to change your mind about us? Do we really have an incentive to appease you?
I would argue yes, because while you are only an individual, what is the community but a multitude of individuals? Other powers that be may argue otherwise. More often than not, I get overruled, and the constant complaints as if we can do no good really don't help my case. That doesn't mean change can't happen, but it'll certainly be a lot slower. Consider this: I've been an employee for a little over a year, but I've been a Massdrop customer since 2014 and a GH user since mid-2015. That they would hire an enthusiast from the community, and an opinionated one at that, says they do care. It just may not be evident to the community. It's easy to focus on the things we do poorly, and I get it. We won't improve all that much if we don't acknowledge our shortcomings, but cut us some slack from time to time, yeah? We really aren't out to screw the community (I have a vested interest not to do so). This one (Oblivion) is hardly our fault, but yes, communication can be better. That part is fair. I hope you stick around to see that we are indeed listening and trying to do better.

They all seem to be seated right too, so I don't think it's that. Also, keys have all different shapes and curvatures... this isn't normal right? My qwerty row is all the same height. That sounds strange. Are you possibly using a hotswap board and the switches aren't all the way in?
The F key is a "deep dish" or "scooped" homing key. It's supposed to be that way. The J should be the same. There is also an F and J key included that match the curvature but have a bar on them so that you can feel them without looking. This is called a "barred" homing key.
I ordered a regular set, a monochrome set, hagoromo alphas, and an oblivion cadet set, so that's 4 sets of alphas. None of mine seem to have the problem you are describing. Wonder what the heck it could be.

You're right, F and J both are as you described, and it turns out I didn't have them all pressed in the same amount. The ones that were taller required quite a hard push to get them to sit as low as the others, strange.

Yes I am concerned how they look to customers, but not for their own sake. I'm obviously not a fan of Drop & am not gonna pretend I am, but with a lot of keycap sets being ran exclusively through them I do buy certain items from that I won't be able to get elsewhere. So it would definitely make me feel better about making future purchase through them if they made some attempt to apologize for the fact the set was two months late for everyone & still counting for us GIT base buyers.

Also this is not an isolated incident, Drop has a pretty long history of long delays, shipping issues (look to the SA Godspeed GB for a shining example of this), lost orders, ect.
Anyways all that said, all I really want at this point is my order from this GB without any more headaches from it.

Honestly no a voucher won't change anything about how I feel about Drop, but it is something better than nothing to say "things didn't work out as planned, we'll try better next time". The delay I do realize is not 100% your fault, but you guys are the GB runners so you do assume some responsibility. To me the easiest way to keep things from getting to a point where people are complaining & looking for a pound of flesh to make themselves feel better over the way the GB went is to give frequent & preemptive updates, neither of which you guys do very well.
You have been a MD customer just about as long as I have so you know their history, why people are so quick to jump the gun when things go south, & why they get upset about it. So there really isn't a need to rehash any of that. Also you are right that there no risk of getting ripped off with Drop, but at the same time you guys can't 100% guarantee that someone will get the product they ordered. So having the issues I have personally had with my drop orders & seeing the issues other have had, IMHO you guys do have an uphill battle to make a decent portion of the community see Drop as more than just a place to grab certain MKB related items.
That said it is not impossible & speaking for myself all it would really take is better communication about what is going on with what GBs. You guys will go weeks without any updates on some GBs, then update that the fulfillment is delayed after the estimated shipping date has already passed, then promise an update on a certain day & don't update on that day. What are we supposed to think as customers? This a pattern that still continues even in this very GB, the last that was said about the GIT bases in the OblivionV2 discussion thread was that fulfillment for the GIT base orders should start on Dec.23rd. Yet it's been radio silence since then. See what I'm saying? Anyways I'm gonna leave off here because we have most likely reached an impasse between our views on Drop, like I said before at this point I just want my kits I ordered from this drop without any more headaches over it. I will say however I do appreciate you talking it out with me, vs arguing about it. The fact that Drop is hiring people like you out of the community is certainly a good thing that I hope improves on some the issues I pointed out.

For what its worth, I think Drop is doing a great job. Delays are part of the hobby and they are the only vendor that does price drops for exceeding MOQ.
For example, look at the price of the base kit for Dracula and Oblivion. There is a $15/$20 difference.

Thanks for pointing it out. The M is also bold on my Space Cadet so it's an earlier issue, not introduced with Oblivion. I'll keep it in mind and see if we can get this one adjusted for future GMK projects.

This is a long shot, but I ordered the Monochrome base kit and am wondering how to get my hands on just the "OBLIVIONV2_MODIFIERS_HHKB_REGULAR" as it wasn't an option on Drop.com.
It wasn't offered as a standalone kit for the actual buy - you have to buy the entire Oblivion base kit if you want those keys.

That's really disappointing to hear. As you guys know, there are GMK GBs (recent example would be Dracula) which have modifier add-on sets; I wonder why this wasn't the case with this one.

Oh dear, this is unfortunate. Ordered the Regular Base Kit, as I was starting to install the keycaps I noticed something wrong with the ' " key.
The alpha color on the ' " key is incorrect. Looks like during packaging it got switched with a ' " key from the Assembly Base Kit.
I already contacted drop support. Hopefully I can get a proper ' " key. This looks funny on my board :(

I'm usually not terribly negative, but it looks pretty bad honestly. I haven't recieved my set yet because I ordered Git base, but I'm a bit worried after seeing pics of what has shipped. Not that this is Drop's fault, but for how delayed this is, GMK really seems to have dropped the ball on this set. There has been talks that they were trying to grow to keep up with demand. This was a big order and it's pretty clear they need to do that sooner rather than later. Did they even QC anything before shipping it out? It looks like an expensive JTK set.
Hopefully these are just outliers though and most of the sets are good. If so, I stand corrected.

Received my regular/hagoromo kit yesterday in Australia. Really happy with my first GMK set.

Actually you're right - looking at it again in person the 2.75U shift is noticeably bolder, particularly around the S.
It seems like both of my 1.25u Alt keys also has badly done legends (bolder and fuzzier). I'll have a closer look through the caps later and post pics of all the issues I find. This may just be issues with my particular set though.

Thanks for your feedback. The issues I detected on the new Git legends are exclusive to Oblivion V2, however only those Git legends were newly made and are exclusively used in Oblivion V2. Everything else uses GMK's standard tooling so the issues you listed are not isolated to Oblivion V2 but rather details you will find in any set using those legends (e.g. Space Cadet also showing the bold M on the 1.25u Meta key). I have noted some points in this thread and will provide them as feedback to GMK, especially the Meta I want to get fixed in the future.
As for the first point, GMK does not do legend printing, all keys are doubleshot with two colors of plastic. The blurriness that you are perceiving is probably an effect of having a more faded color for the legends on Oblivion V2 compared to the stronger off-white of Space Cadet. I've compared them IRL myself just now and don't see an issue with the legend's shape.

- 1.25u control keys both have the legends misaligned (indented right)
- 2.75u right shift legend is blurry and bolded
- both 1.25u alt keys have issues with legends
- 1.25u meta key has bolded/ blurry legend - in particular, the initial "M" is bolded
Thanks for your feedback. The issues I detected on the new Git legends are exclusive to Oblivion V2, however only those Git legends were newly made and are exclusively used in Oblivion V2. Everything else uses GMK's standard tooling so the issues you listed are not isolated to Oblivion V2 but rather details you will find in any set using those legends (e.g. Space Cadet also showing the bold M on the 1.25u Meta key). I have noted some points in this thread and will provide them as feedback to GMK, especially the Meta I want to get fixed in the future.
As for the first point, GMK does not do legend printing, all keys are doubleshot with two colors of plastic. The blurriness that you are perceiving is probably an effect of having a more faded color for the legends on Oblivion V2 compared to the stronger off-white of Space Cadet. I've compared them IRL myself just now and don't see an issue with the legend's shape.
Thanks for the response. Yeah I’m not too fussed about it, and I’m pretty sure it’s just a function of the moulds getting older and therefore there being some issues with the legends. I just hope GMK does replace some of the dodgier moulds sooner rather than later, especially with some bigger run sets in the pipeline.

There should be a 2nd tracking number which will let you know the status of the package once its in your country

You are not charged until the GB concludes, so you will pay the price based on the number of signed up participants at the end of the GB window.

I just received my Oblivion set, and earlier I tried the hagoromo kit and noticed a lot of the keycaps look crooked or misaligned (some are too close, some others too far)... but with other GMK sets (or changing the bad keys for others) they look perfectly aligned, so I'm pretty sure my keys from the hagoromo set are defective.

If I swap R and T the distance between the two changes, which means it's not my keyboard, it's the keycaps that are defective. Also if I try with any older GMK set this problem is not present.

Agreed, in terms of quality I'll take Leopold pbt caps anyday. I'm surprised how precise their thinner legends are, though they're not perfect. Their spacebar is also very straight, straighter than my gmk olive spacebar actually.

So I'm guessing the problem is that the 1! mold is too old and needs replacement too.
