I would recommend getting PCB mounted switches because they are more versatile.  If you want to do PCB mounted, you have the option.  If you want to do plate mounted, you just clipping off the plastic bits on the bottom of the switch and they are now plate mounted switches.

I found the answer.  I remembered that I had seen ps2avr, but it was actually ps2avrU.  Here is a link to the firmware: http://winkeyless.kr/entry/ps2avrU-firmware-%EB%B0%8F-utility (use google translate).

It says: "ps2avrU - PS / 2 and USB interface supports both the new firmware."

I'd love to get 10lbs of aluminum case ... but I can't until at least March ... and it might not work out even then. But I'd love to see them made / shipped so I can buy a spare in the classifieds if it turns out I have the dough at that time.

I have a request, regarding the ALPS boards. Since I suspect a fair number of us wanting that series already have, and are satisfied with, our own switch supply ... Spirit, can you consider making the boards available sans newly minted korean switches?

I really appreciate that you're making this GB a one-stop-shop for do it yourselfer's needs. But it's okay too, to provide just the PCBs and say "This is all I have. Get the rest elsewhere."

I bet if you did, you could still move 50 Alps boards easily enough ... one wave down, the third wave for pcb+switch kits.

I've always wondered, why can't you use PCB mounted switches in a plate mounted design without clipping the two tabs? Doesn't this PCB support both types of switches? So, since there are already two extra holes, wouldn't keeping the two tabs on the switch increase the rigidity of the switch when plate mounting? Or am I blatantly ignorant/blind? Haha

Anyone care to enlighten me? :p

Having never done it, I'm pretty sure the holes for PCB-mount are the issue. So you could, so far as I know, use PCB (/NW) switches inside a plate. Making everything line up might be more work but that would be about the only issue.

Hey Sprit,

Just sent you payment for the following invoice:

#1232 - 87% Acryl case: Clear/Frosty/Clear

Could you please verify that this is for a Filco compatible case (it should be!). The colors are correct.

Thanks again for organizing all of this!

I've done this on two keyboards. So long as the PCB has the holes drilled for the stabilizer pins, then you can leave them on. In fact, I prefer to do this because it makes for an even more stable switch with the plate. I can feel the difference on a standard "sheet" plate, but it's really not noticeable on a thick plate, like the MX Mini or like the 4/5mm plates being offered here. Still, it's one less task to do when you're assembling things, so I would leave them on. :)

Havent recieved a reply from you yet Spirit.
I ordered 90 switches but it said 110 on the receipt. I did however pay because I was afraid of missing out.
So would it be too much of a bother if I got 90 clear switches and 20 black switches?
Also I'd like plate switches.

My understanding is that if you are using this PCB, then you can use PCB mounted switches even with a plate.  If you are using most on this pcb and the rest on a different pate mounted pcb which does not have the holes, you can always just clip those switches.

Tack så mycket Spirit! You are 50 shades of awesome! And since the pcb switches fit on this with plate go for pcb.

Really Sorry For that,  If It had been 1 week earler!

Sprit, I sent you an PM, not sure if you got them. I need the PayPal invoice e-mail changed, and it seems like there was an error about on the invoice.

Great! Thanks for all the hard work Sprit!

Another question to be sure: It goes from Bottom to top right? So the first option ( bottom ) on the form, is the part where the case touches the table correct?
