Am I right in thinking that you can use a plate and PCB mount the switches so you have the added solidness of a plate but easier modification of the PCB mounted switches?

the plate that was offered is mentioned to be phantom style, with that understanding, that plate allows u to open up the switch housing without having to desolder all the switch first.
and yes, with sprit's pcb, u can use pcb mount switch with the plate.

both types of switches are fine.
but i would suggest u to go for pcb mount switches as it have extra 2 legs at the bottom side of the switch which will provide better stability.

Your keyboards look great. I wanted to get one when i saw this thread a few weeks back but didn't because i was confused on how to order. All i was wanting was a 60% with cherry mx clears in a white case or whiteish colors also for the keyboard to be a plate mounted.
