As someone that has pretool screw ins... Would it be worth it to try to find clip ins for the spacebar to use the gasket, or just roll top mount?

worth it - I haven't tried top mount yet cuz I am really digging the gasket.

ALSO - Install the gummy before you solder the PCB - I really liked having room to pull the PCB and Plate apart while wedging the o-ring in around the USB port on the PCB.

What switches did you use to use gummy before soldering? I have vints in a mock build and with the h88, the pcb moves around a bit to the point that I think doing it before soldering might be difficult.

By gummy, do you mean the gasket?  You can leave the gasket to the end. Just pinch it and stick it behind the USB port - that’s my technique.

you can do it before or after solder, I didn't like how tight it was in there and didn't want to slice the oring wedging it in

I think its best to start here, it likes to pinch the rubber here either way, then you can stretch it around the rest

note - ur oring is probably clear, ignore my red one

Ran into that issue as well, I was cautious about the USB area as I didn't want to slice the O-ring with my spudging tool.

That said though, I did use GMK screw in stabs and didn't have any issues mounting it.

Si senor. It is a little bit tight, but everything pushes in fine when you sandwich everything in. Maybe it just squishes the rubber gasket against the spacebar stabs but that doesn't seem to have caused any issues

All said and done, I absolutely prefer the sound profile of gasket mount over top mounting (I tried both)

Just to be on the safe side, you might want to disassemble the case after a few days and check to see how the rubber is holding up.  I had it in there with the Zeal screw-in stabs for 2 days.  When I opened the case, the part of the gasket that was pressing against the stabs was deformed with discoloration (different shade of white due to the compression) and it did leave lasting impression marks in the gasket.  I took this as a sign that it was under too much pressure, which prompted me to desolder and order/install some clip ins for the space bar.  Your mileage may vary and you might be alright, but it couldn't hurt to double check after a few days.

I did a complete desolder job with pump and wick - last time I'm doing that btw - and am waiting for an H88 and FR4 plate to arrive later this week to reinstall my zealios.  I'm hoping the sound profile of the FR4 isn't too different from the CF, as I really liked it.   I'm not having any luck on r/mm for some vints, and don't know enough about older boards to take a chance on eBay.  I might hit up the local thrift shops this weekend to see if I can't find anything to harvest from.

For what it's worth, I think most o-ring gasket mount boards will damage their gaskets over time. It's just how it works when you have soft rubber compressed against sharp-edged aluminum for years. But even with that (I basically have chunks taken out of my mini's gasket) it should still hold together. And once sourced, they're not very expensive to replace.

If you're using zeal/durock stabs, you can file the spacebar stab housings a bit to relieve some stress on the gasket

Yuktsi posted the specs a few posts up. 3.5mm thick and 240mm diameter I believe.

I know that part of the novelty of TGR is the wait, but is there any indication of estimated shipping for the remaining orders?

Rebuild went great.  Ended up getting a H88 from Daily Clack, and picked up a FR4 plate from Hiney's store.  Tealios fit well.  Clip in space bar stabs worked well too - the gasket sits properly now and everything is flush.  Very, very happy with how things turned out.

Here is are two quick picks.  I put DSA Galaxy Class on just because.

Hey guys,

I finally got my CE all done up and built.

Sam absolutely nailed this board and it's--by far--my favorite board I have yet to own or use.

Switches and build done by R3msky.

Excuse the crap photos, but I was too excited to resist sharing.

I know that part of the novelty of TGR is the wait, but is there any indication of estimated shipping for the remaining orders?

Second this. Have yet to receive shipping invoice or other communication. I know that it takes longer this time of year with LNY and all, but haven't heard anything yet. So excited for this board!

Same here. Given how late my PayPal invoice was, I suspect I'll be one of the last to receive the board. More time to get switches ready I guess.

Sounds super muted in comparison to mine, not sure how aside from tons of lube or a low-pass filter or something.

I did a mock up of mine with inks and it sounded pretty muted like this video. I ended up actually building it with vints blacks but it's still quite muted sounding with the gasket. I'll eventually get around to doing a typing test with it.

As someone that sort of built both cherry and inks they didn't sound quite as good IMO. They are quite muted, but they just don't sound quite as good as cherry. Normally I feel like inks sound more muted, but in this case for some reason I just think cherry sounds better. Don't get me wrong, they're both great but the vints I have are almost silent but in a good way, where as the inks were muted but had a bit more thock to them. I think it ultimately comes down to preference.

I have inks on my v2 and vints on my CE v2. Inks are still higher pitch so I definitely prefer the vints (both are on poly half plates). I do enjoy having inks though they've a very distinct sound signature to me that is pleasant.

Received and paid shipping invoice on January 6th, haven't received any tracking information yet. Don't worry, I'm sure it'll come soon  :thumb:

hey sam can you send me a link to buy some diodes for the compromised one on my PCB

1N4148 Series SOD-123 Diodes was what you sent me but on the following page below there are three options, which one do I grab for replacement diodes?

https://www.mouser.com/Semiconductors/Discrete-Semiconductors/Diodes-Rectifiers/Diodes-General-Purpose-Power-Switching/1N4148-Series/_/N-ax1mp?P=1z0yr4vZ1yxk9r0&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIoLnotreQ6AIVF4iGCh2mygWvEAAYAiAAEgI50fD_BwE

I'd be interested in another PCB, too, if you're not too busy and have any extras  :thumb:

They're all 1N4148s, which all pretty much work in the same way despite small differences between manufacturers. You can pick up the first one and should be fine.
