Cylindrical vs spherical profiles
« on: Mon, 06 December 2021, 09:03:40 »
I'd like to hear your opinion about cylindrical vs spherical profiles.

With cylindrical profiles, fingers have more "space", more "tolerance" in the longitudinal direction, so you can be less precise, and still land exactly on the comfort zone of the keycap.

With spherical profiles SA and DSA for example, you have to be more precise, which means less comfort (you have to press the key exactly at the center or else you "feel" the mistake).

I own a DSA set, not an SA one. Do you agree with this or am I wrong?

I've been touch typing since 7th grade, so precision isn't an issue for me. I prefer the look and feel of spherical over cylindrical and will (probably) never willingly go back to cylindrical ever again.

Do you use SA with different row heights for each row, or just row 3 (or whatever it is called)?

I prefer sculpted profiles for SA and MT3. Flat profile keyboards are okay in a pinch, but I like the curvature provided by the different row heights.
