/headscratch...

that's a silly question..

Since a gaming mouse loosely defined is -a- mouse that is at least as good if not better than a regular mouse..

There are no restrictions..

i find them to be mice just more optomized for gaming, i'm trying to speak more for mice that have a good sensor but were not advertised as a gaming mouse. only one i know of is the microsoft intellimouse.

If you consider A9800 a decent sensor (I would, as I'm not a part of the anti-"acceleration" circlejerk), there's 3Dconnexion CadMouse and it least one mouse from ¿Fujitsu? I think.

Just turn off the LED(s) and *poof*, it is no longer a gaming mouse.

Or better yet, buy one that doesn't have LEDs to begin with.

That too :) I am a little partial to dpi indicators but I can definitely do without the other stuff.

True, but still a great office mouse with very few leds.  And wired or wireless. The best actual office mouse I had was the MX Revolution but alas not enough res for multi monitors.

I wouldn't get too hung up on whether it is a gaming mouse or not.  Find one that fits your hand and work needs and preferences.  This will depend on what you are doing at work... MS Office tools, CAD or Visio, graphic design, graphical or visual programming.

well if you look at the OP it kinda looks like he's just interested in which mice were not advertised as gaming mice, but are suited for it just fine.
the CAD mouse that davkol mentioned seems like a good example. it's probably one of very few, though.

its a big white one on the palm area, i could understand maybe a smaller one on the lower palm area

yes, well, it is a gaming mouse after all.
even most office mice have a logo or brand name somewhere on the palm area. you really can't expect a gaming mouse not to have one loud and clear

if it's a problem, just put your own favorite sticker over it! or.. sand it off i guess

I've almost convinced myself to order the Zowie ZA13, size wise seems mostly comparable to the savu I use at home, for my office work. I have a random Logitech wireless from Woolworths, M185, but the negative acceleration is maddening as is the set 1000dpi.

ZA13 has a nice common shape and the new Zowie logo seems nice and simple so shouldn't stand out in the office. I used to use the Logitech MMO mouse (G600?) for a whole bunch of cad shortcuts but I was sick of being asked about it, so I fully understand your concern.

I use a Zowie ZA11 and it's really good. No crazy lights. No gaudy logo. It looks sleek and works for right-handed and wrong-handed people.

Jokes? What jokes? I'm here for sharing information in an open format filled with sugar gumdrops and candy rainbows. Horizontal scrolling is fantastic for certain productivity applications (not apps, applied 'artistry' and such). Let's be friends, ok?

I have the MX Master, it's an absolutely fantastic mouse for work related stuff. Great wireless, supports Logitech Unifying receivers as well as BT, and can be synced to 3 different devices (there's a switch on the bottom).

Sensor is absolutely fine for pretty much everything except for pro level super precise twitch FPS gaming. However, if you want the best wireless mouse: get the G602. It's rock solid, feels like there's less lag, and HOLY CRAP THE BATTERY LIFE (I've replaced the battery twice in the 2 years I've had it).

you can always use a "gaming" mouse for normal uses, no?
"gaming" is just a name, in truth they are "high quality mouses", yes?  :p

I guess MX Master is great for office use (good looking, horizontal scroll) (I can't comment about the sensor because I don't own one)
---
I am using a G502 but I want to buy a mouse for office use, MX Master seems to be good choice.
I hope Logitech will release a new "MX Master" with 2 extra buttons for pointer finger like G502.
I'm addicted to those buttons and I'm considering to buy a Steelseries Rival 500. ("considering" becasue I don't have good experience with Steelseries :( )

I have the mx master, it's great. I have no problems with the sensor in anything but fps shooters, and the problem there might be the weight more than the actual sensor. It's easily the best mouse I have used when it comes to productivity and comfort.

On a different note, newer Contour Design RollerMouse models (Free2, Red, Free3) use Philips Twin Eye.

Do you use/have a Rollermouse?

I've had a Red in the past and was thinking of grabbing one again to try once more but then just noticed the new Free3.
I'm very tempted by the Free3 as I'd prefer a newly refreshed model  - who knows all they may have tweaked/solved/refined I figured..

Any idea how/why one would choose a Free3 vs Red?
Thx

I do have an old model, and I'm eying a newer one on sale.

AFAIK Free3 has only a pair of extra buttons and an extra step in sensor resolution. That, and I believe the pamrest shapes are different. Oh, and a wireless version is coming soon.

So you just want to avoid the "gaming" spaceship type designs i take it? I am a big fan of simple and hands down the Zowie EC1A is just a really well made mouse. Expensive for being so basic but solid.

I can't stand any flashy "gamer" looking stuff for the most part... I previously used a Sensei MLG just turned the stupid lights off.

recently got a Zowie ZA11 it just looks like a mouse the logo is pretty understated.. I like it.. I'd rock one at work no problem..

What's wrong with "gaming" gear at work? I can't get my boss off my keyboard half the time (we share an office -_-), hmm I guess that is a problem since I can't get any work done...

Mrs really likes the current made Microsoft Surface Mouse, see below;

http://www.techradar.com/reviews/microsoft-surface-mouse

Traditional shape and the switches aren't bad for an Office styled mouse.  Really easy to move around on the pad and has an eight month battery usage (actual usage here not what MS claims).

Just surprised an average product such as this could be so fun to use because it sure makes scrolling through multiple documents easy and the drivers install straight away from MS central.

Only ever loved their MLT04 equipped mice range but I am growing to like this latest product, which shouldn't be used in Gaming at all, which is why someone here asked this question.

There are many. Better sensors mouse are use by graphic designers that require precision and accuracy.
For example Logitech performance mouse
It is an all-purpose mouse and used by graphic designers and video editors in my office.

Another is Eco-comfort mobile mouse by HP.

Mod edit: this is your second warning - self-advertising is against the ToS. (https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=39249.0)

Does the performance mx allow disabling  of angle snapping ?

As I recall, all logitech mice are --Precise--

But only the Gaming line is --Accurate--

This is differentiated by anglesnapping on the productivity line mice , where it's an option to disable for  --Accurate-- tracking of hand motion in the gaming line.

So........  the Gaming line would be precise AND accurate,    whereas the productivity line is usually --only precise--
