Thanks, guys.  I'm still getting used to this 60% deal.  Not sure it's my cup of tea, but I'm trying to adjust!  60% is sure space efficient though (standing next to my Lightsaver, it's tiny).

P.S.: these are the pink LEDs from Nuclear's recent GB.  They are slightly more warm toned vs those photographs.  A pretty neat hot magenta pink.  I have regular purple LEDs, but they are a bit too blue for this keyboard.

I think it was originally from IMSTO, one of his group buys perhaps.  I got it from another member.  There's also an HHKB layout plate available from IMSTO too.  Not sure if he still offers those for sale.  You can try GON though for HHKB layout, his plates are very nice quality.

Here's the HHKB layout plate from IMSTO (no soldering, I was just testing stuff)

In other news, I've swapped to 62g gold MX Blacks already--MX Whites were an interesting experiment, but felt wrong on that board.  Super smooth MX Blacks feel just right! (typing on it now).  Also I've learned that housings matter for clicky switch stems: vintage/old MX Black housings made the click much softer and more inconsistent, but new MX Blue housings I tried as a test had all the MX White stems I've tested perfectly clicky.  Maybe something to do with the shape of the metal leaf, which I always am very careful to not touch.  Also no lubricant used in the bottom housings originally. I know I've used vintage MX Black bottoms for Clears with no issues, but apparently clicky switch types had slightly different leaf shape?  Just a guess so far, based on this experience.

It was just keycaps on top of switches in plates, no soldering.  I was testing different switch feel in a low profile case, so it basically didn't matter what arrangement the caps were in :)

When you put on a lot of keycaps just to take them off an hour later, repeatedly, you can decide if you care about correct arrangements :)

Interesting! Haven't seen hhkb-style poker/universal 60 plates much before I think.
Would be awesome if standard poker PCBs would support Tsangan bottom row layout...

Got my Gasmasks yesterday so today was a good time to make some better pics of them. :)

I wanted to compare the colours to the G1 one and while it's very close on camera at first they are certainly different:

The G2 is quite a bit paler in comparison.

Sweet :)

Some of those look a good match for the Toxic set.
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

They certainly are. I'm kind of jealous at people who have that set now. :P

It was also a good time to reorganize my keycap case:

My MA42 is finally working!! I've been using it for the past few days and other than a few hiccups I don't notice much of a difference between it and 60%.

People in the 1980s, in general, were clearly just better than we are now in every measurable way.

The dumber the reason the more it must be done

Currently using (and getting used to) this tiny set up!  I didn't feel like fixing the white balance, as this shows the actual atmospheric lighting as I see it on my desk, with light from my monitors and some from the windows :)
