Personally, I hate the color scheme, but 1000% support getting permission to run an ortho version of an existing/prior GB. Do this for others down the road (*cries in GMK ThinkCaps*) and I’m in.
Ortho. Always.

Refresh, I just fixed the images.

Also good catch, 1.25u enter will be added.

Some quick changes being made:

  • R3 1.25u enter (for 12.5u staggered boards) is not being added. Remembered it was intentionally excluded since there are a ton of r3 1.25u keys available for that spot.
  • Removing scooped homing due to oddities of DSS scooped homing hitting some switches (and to trim price slightly).
  • Renders currently show minibars as convex, these should be DSA concave and that will be reflected in the renders soon.

I understand the decision to omit R3 1.25 enter due to the other key options, but a second 2.25u space would provide full Whimsy split-space support, and would be appreciated.

I understand the decision to omit R3 1.25 enter due to the other key options, but a second 2.25u space would provide full Whimsy split-space support, and would be appreciated.

I absolutely sympathize with people that want this option, however I won't be adding it for a few reasons:

  • The lack of the second 2.25u does not make the set incompatible with Whimsy, just one layout
  • This set is already running on razor-thin margins and larger keys tend to be pricey to add
  • Excluding some small runs of PCBs by Nasp, it is the only 40% board to my knowledge to use 2x 2.25u spacebars
  • I'm hesitant to kit for a board that not only has not been released, but as far as I'm aware has been stagnant in development for a while
  • New layouts are one of my favorite aspects of 40% keyboards, but I believe there should be a reason for them, a benefit to a new layout. The Whimsy 2x 2.25u layout is unnecessary and could easily be improved for keycap compatibility by making the 1u keys by the spacebars 1.25u and making the spacebars 2u (as 2x 2u is already widely adopted, especially in ortholinear boards). I don't particularly recommend adoption of 2x 2.25u at this time.

Apologies if this sounds like a rant, it's genuinely not; I have just thought deeply about this and want to make sure my reasoning is transparent to everyone.

$200 numpad kit 😄

Maybe you can see if someone will split off their numpad! Sorry, just trying to keep this GB simple and it'd be a pricey numpad. I also don't want to be redundant with the existing set.

It looks like something very interesting, I want to try it out already. I wish I had something like this when I was a student life would have been a lot more interesting, especially when we were writing something. I studied construction engineering and essay topics about construction were not uncommon. My work was extremely good and was even published on https://studymoose.com/free-essays/construction for anyone who doesn't know what to write. But the process of writing was maddeningly boring without such a keyboard, you could say there was a lack of colors in the dull gray life of a student
