So I might be the only person that wanted to add backlit LEDs to my keyboard, but in the case that someone else has tried, were you able to get it to work?  The LEDS wouldn't turn on for me (one did briefly, then faded almost immediately).  I've tried on 2 PCBs (the original I received and the replacement due to the split backspace issue), and neither of them turned the lights on.  I tried adjusting the settings with the original files on kbfirmware and the newer files in VIA.

Hopefully I'm not wrong, but I'm ruling out soldering-error since I was able to install LEDs on another keyboard without issue and I tested multiple slots to be sure that the issue is consistent.  It's not the end of the world if it won't work, but it would've been nice to have for my personal build.

7/19/20 Update:  In case anyone else sees this and wonders if there is an update, I'm just a big dum doodoo head and it works fine.

Here's mine.

I finally fixed the split backspace. Since the solder pad is wide (due to alps compatible), I inserted the tip of solder iron and the lead to make sure the pad from top will make contact with the pin.

I've gone ahead and created a PR for the Key 65 PCBs to QMK and VIA. Since I don't own a hotswap PCB, would appreciate someone testing the Hotswap variants and leaving a comment on the PRs with test results.

https://github.com/qmk/qmk_firmware/pull/9116
https://github.com/the-via/keyboards/pull/141

I'm not sure if it was intentional or not but you're lighting the caps lock led when it's off, instead of the usual when it's on.

Not what I had intended :)) Is this the case on both the universal and hotswap?

Yea it is. Fixed it up myself but I wasn't sure if it was intentional. I haven't tested the universal sicne I don't have led's on it, but I noticed it's the same function.

Could you fix the matrix for the universal board? I submitted a issue on github since the backspace is set to the wrong key.

Sure, mind linking your issue? I can't find it on the QMK github.

Here is the issue. https://github.com/the-via/keyboards/issues/186
I don't think it's a QMK issue, I just think ipse just needs to edit the matrix to select the correct backspace. Should be an easy fix.

Here is the picture of the result. Pretty happy. But yeah KB and VIA wasn't allowing me to enable NKEY rollover. So I'll figure that out in the future. Not sure if I really need it enabled or not, and not really sure if I need VIA now that I have ever thing that I need. So well see.

That looks great!  What LED strips did you use for that?   Got a link?  Thanks.

Has anyone else experienced any bowing issues with a polycarb bottom piece, I feel like there shouldn't be gaskets stuck to the bottom of the mid piece. Here's the issue I ran into from my stream building the board. https://clips.twitch.tv/HappyDaintyVanillaCeilingCat

Did you get this worked out? I skimmed thru your stream and looks like you double gasketed the base and mid piece? You don't need gaskets on the bottom of the mid piece which is why you didn't need to cut your own. You should have had 2 extra long pieces. I'm 98% sure anyway lol, based on building my own. I've never seen anything that was meant to be rubber on rubber.

Yea, this sounds right. You put the 6 long gaskets on the bottom piece, and no gaskets on the underside of the middle. That is what I did too and have no issues with the polycarb bottom bowing.

I actually removed the gaskets from the bottom of the middle layer and it resolved the issue the board doesn't bow anymore. Thanks guys for your replies :)

On the hotswap board, the enter key stabs are south facing, which causes an issue with the rubber pad. It makes the rubber pad off center for all the keys below it... has anyone had this issue? I think the holes for the enter key stabs are upside down...

Had same issue with hotswap.  I just used a box cutter and sliced off the notch.

Many people asked me if there will be a round 2 (no) and why not. I guess I need to give a public answer here.
Firstly, Key65 was not a limited GB. The IC was long enough that anyone care about the community would see it. The GB period was long enough that anyone wanted to join can join. It was a long journey to get the 600 kits manufactured and shipped in this special time. I'm deeply grateful for those who patiently waited and who had faith on me. I'm not interested in making their wait a little less meaningful by running a much quicker group buy for the same design.
Secondly, I'm not interested in running the group buys for the same design. I've mentioned it many times. I don't want to run a group buy if there's nothing new.

That being said, I do plan to run a group buy for Time 80% in the near future. The concept is the same but all the details have been improved. It will be a totally different Time. I'll IC it and collect feedbacks soon.

Hooked up 40 LEDs. I never want to open this up again. After all of that my left shift stab wire popped out and I somehow managed to pop it back in without having to desolder.

It's possible that a generic 65% with the same layout might work. But there is no guarantee that it will fit the usb port/cutout.

Don't know what it is exactly, but it's probably sorbothane.
Sorbothane is high density acoustic dampener.

Think KBDFans has module foam you can buy. Not too sure if it fits the Key65 layout so check that first before you pull the trigger.
