I would be more than willing to take your place. Sorry it's a new account, but I literally created it just to reply to your message (I have a more established account on reddit under the same name). I've pm'ed you as well

At this stage, can't people just drop out and everyone else move up?

Nooo I'm #73.  Is this absolutely the case that orders beyond #60 won't be fulfilled?  I ordered switches and stabs for this and would like to try and get in on something else asap if that's the case.  Should I email duck about it?

The Duck Feet's are going to be available only in anodized silver.

Orders will be fulfilled by 40+40+...

just so you guys know the orders have been changed to 30 + 30 because duck is unable to produce the requested volume of boards

These seem to conflict.  Can we get an official statement on this from duck?

elton's statement was over a week ago. Duck probably changed his mind since.
But yeah; I guess we'll have to wait 'til we hear from elton regarding the western GB.

Yep, it'll free up cash for other endeavors! Like getting a carbon fiber plate made for my Lightpad so it can Alps it up, buying holtite sockets for the Lightpad and such. All that is going to cost at least $100, I'd say, but it will be so worth it.

I still need a case for my other hotswap Eagle, so there's that.

Not having a $400 keyboard expense on top of that is a good thing.

I see. It's good that He's able to fulfill much more than he has in the past then. I was just under the impression that it wouldn't be sub-100 order. But that's my own fault lol.

Place 40 over here!  :)
Super stoked that it looks like I actually made it in after missing out on Lightsaver V2.

Also btw:
Still trying to decide if I should switch to an aluminum plate since it seems to be the most common choice.

Since there seems to be more then enough room in the case, has anyone tried using tiny o-rings in between the plate and the case? Shouldn't that in theory dampen the harder plate a little and solve any possibility of pinging issues?

Brag much, lol? JK though, congrats

I don't know what you mean by putting o-rings between the plate and case since there will be a PCB there. However if you mean around the sides that wouldn't dampen a plate at all because the material of the plate itself is what gives the hardness of it.

Right now it's only 60, 30+30 like the Orion v2. It was originally said to be two rounds of 40 but that has now since changed.

Thx for the quick reply Steezus, but it doesn't really answer my question.  :)
Sorry if I didn't fully explain what I mean.

To elaborate:
Since this is a two part case design, the plate is directly attached to the top half of the case by screws,
(unlike poker style cases where the pcb is attached to the case directly)

so the plate is in fact in direct contact with the case with no pcb inbetween.
(the pcb is more or less free floating and only attached to the plate itself wich again screws to the case)

I was wondering if putting o-rings on the screws that attach the plate to the case (in between where the plate normally makes contact with the case) would give the plate a more dampened feel, incase anyone has ever tried to do something similar to this?

Sorry if I made that explanation slightly complicated, but I hope the question becomes more clear now.

Edit:
If you take a closer look on the plate you will see the eight attachment points used to screw the plate to the top half of the case.
I meant using o-rings on these attachments points between plate and case.

Yeah I know how Duck's boards work, I have an Orion v2 myself. I was just confused on the question.

The plate material is what matters on the amount of flex for certain types of switches. Putting o-rings on all the screws, if possible, would just have the entire plate be a little squishy around the edges and be able to push it down but still does not give it "flex". It may dampen is around the edges but to not each individual switch.

Sorry Steezus didn't realize until now my idea is probably what you referred to by around the sides.

Really appreciate your feedback especially if you have experience with Duck's board and didn't mean to sound rude or anything, I was just trying to further explain my idea and keep in mind Im not a native speaker.

So thx a lot again!  :)

I might actually give the o-rings a try since I have a bunch of different sizes flying around, but Im still wondering wether to go aluminum or stick with stainless?

Do you have an aluminum Plate on your Orion? What would you recommend to go with?
Im probably just going to pick whatever your suggestion would be...

I do realize stainless would be heavier and aluminum softer, but never really had a direct comparison to go by.
Went with the angled acrylic bottom btw! =D

It's all good, you didn't rude or anything. :thumb:

The plates really depend on which switches you'd like to use. If you're going the linear route then stainless steel is definitely the better option imo.

I personally am using an acrylic plate in my Orion with 65g Tactile Zealios, the tactility is phenomenal but the sound is rather mute.

The aluminum is a good mix of in between where you have more rigidity, better sound, but still some flex for tactile switches and still good for linears.

Honestly I couldn't really tell you which plate to decide on unless I know which switches you're thinking about using.

I am wondering if anyone in SoCal would like to help me build a board for the first time. I'm willing to pay but since I dumped almost all my keyboard budget on this I can only afford a bit. That's why I will forever be in debt to anyone who's going to help me <3.

Very sad news. This was my dream board and it looks like I'll be missing out. :(

Thx for your input again Steezus! :)

I've been using linear switches in all my recent boards, but since the Zealios GB R2 launched I'm heavily considering those for my Octagon.

Im probably going with Tactile Zealios so I'll shoot elton a PM to switch to an aluminum Plate!  :thumb:

I didn't even realize the acrylic plate was actually available for the Orion btw, sounds awesome!
Ive seen some acrylic plates on the octagon pics linked in this thread, but unfortunately it doesn't seem to be available this time around.

I'm just using my Octagon v1 for now, living in the moment, knowing the v2 will never be mine now! Lest I pay crazy aftermarket prices for a potential color, plate, and bottom layout I do not 100% want.

So eh, whatever. I'll live with it.
