How do you like it? Also, how do you like your trackball? It looks awesome and the palm wrest looks comfy, but reaching for the scroll wheel and/or middle button while the palm is rested seems weird.   I just ask because Massdrop is selling a similar model: https://www.massdrop.com/buy/cst-lasertrac-trackball

Feels like a Realforce, but with a sexier-than-standard colorscheme.  I like it. :D

I try to use both the trackball and mouse (not visible in my pic) to help alleviate stress symptoms in my right hand.  I use the trackball where I can for simple movements but still need the mouse for precision stuff.  My left hand is getting more and more adept over time.

Funny that you mentioned resting my palms -- I actively try to avoid that now while typing and mousing.  This particular ergo mistake hit me hard recently and resulted in intense pain in my right wrist.  I was worried that I had seriously injured myself for several days.  Eventually I figured out that I had been planting my palms while reaching for keys which of course produces awkward wrist angles.    Now I plant my elbows on my armrests, hover my hands over the keyboard, and use forearm motion instead of bending my wrists.  I only put my palms on the rest when I'm not typing.  I also use a tiling window manager called i3 which significantly reduces my dependence on mouse/trackball for moving around between windows.  Wrists feel much better. :thumb:

Oh wow.  I should probably start investing in a good chair then.   It's too short for my desk.  My desk is quite tall (about 3') because it's an executive desk made to have client on the other end.  I've been able to avoid carpal tunnel by sliding and sometimes lifting my arms across the desk as I type or mouse.  However, over time this will probably cause problems for my shoulders, elbows, and/or forearms in the future.  I just thought that getting a trackball could reduce future strain on my right arm because I use it for daily for typing, writing, drawing, and gaming.

Mine looks pristine.

Just got it and mine has no nasty scuffs on it.

What was nasty was the insane customs charges of $39 for tax and handling fee.

I guess it really depends on the lighting but I know they are there and the only one that really bugs me is the one under the right alt key.

Yep, it seems I have a small mark on mine under the ALT key as well, after looking at those pics. it wasn't noticeable till I saw it pointed out.

After looking more closely, I seem to have the others too.

Sigh... thanks for pointing them out, I was happy not noticing them at all!

wonder if these were somehow reconditioned if they have the same marks at the same places
especially that part where the cases looks like a screwdriver was used to pop it open

That was my first thought. Massdrop said they would send another if I sent this one back but since others are getting similar condition boards I decided to keep it, they offered a small credit on a future drop for the trouble.

Does anyone have or can you recommend a good keyboard roof for this keyboard? My ducky boards have a plastic cover that they ship with I use it every night as a dust cover. My solution for this board so far is to put it back in the box every day, which sucks because I have to unplug it from the PC and the way my work PC is setup that is just a headache.

Maybe try the EK roof that sits on top of the keyboard?
http://elitekeyboards.com/products.php?sub=access,roofs&pid=rfek
Ir would only cover the keys though.
**EDIT**
Looks like the EK ones are similar to what used to be sold by RF for their keyboards?

Unless the RF model number is just a lie lol.
I dunno, i googled and found an old thread that Tsangan was looking for the roof back in 2011.
I know my Filco roof wouldn't fit because the RF cases are an inch or so too wide

Mine has pretty much the same exact marks as Ray. I am thinking this is some defect in the production line. Perhaps the machines molding the cases have defects, or something.

I'm also curious about the space bar, the models that are advertised on ebay seem to have a spacebar with a darker gray that matches the mods where this board the space bar is closer to the alpha color.

They don't look like pry marks. They look more like a problem along the assembly line. As if they were scraped along something on their way through. Since they are in the exact pattern and areas on both mine and Rays, it would make the most sense.

Yeah, I am thinking these are factory defects - hence the pricepoint they were able to get. Seems logical.

BUT seeing as how so many seem to have the same issue I would bet the replacement would have to. :(

They don't make full-sized cases. Honestly, I don't mind it being some defect if that was explained up front. But the fact that it wasn't, and we all thought this was a great deal
from the regular price makes it disappointing.

I was going to, but I don't really know what good it would do at this point.  I'm pretty disappointed too, obviously doesn't effect the functionality of the board but as Bro Caps mentioned, I feel a little misled.

Yeah I haven't either. I probably wouldn't of noticed them at all, if it wasn't pointed out to me.

Not sure if I should, because of that fact.

I didn't see the recent comments in this thread until now, so I thought I should chime in.  My board was purchased on ebay, so the source is probably different... or not, I don't know.  However, it doesn't really matter.  My case has the same marks as well.  Although, I have seen the same marks on all older 104UBs that had a decent enough pic to clearly show them.  When I got my board back in October I too was curious about them.  All in all, it just seems to be a "defect" in the mold.  In my opinion, it is hardly noticable and nothing worth contacting Massdrop about because all black shelled 104s have them.

Edit:  peter79's pics are a great example.

^^ Thank you for sharing! While definitely an oddity it is clear that this is a common problem on these boards.

Those spots are also visible on the Massdrop pics if you zoom in https://www.massdrop.com/buy/topre-realforce-104ub On the RF TKL's they have a mark above the right arrow key. I think it may be due to the plastic flow during the moulding process possibly?
